[05:55] Hello all. [05:55] I am having a weird bug. [05:55] I get stuck on restarts [05:55] after the BIOS boot it just goes into a black screen and then I am forced to hard shutdown. [05:56] has anyone been experiencing something similar? [06:07] Fixed the problem by updating grub, and modifying a line in the grub file. [08:15] Is there a particular reason for gnome-shell having the version 3.14.4 and not the new version 3.16.2? [08:15] Could it be because, 3.16.2 is still not full release? [08:19] (unofficial answer): ubuntu-gnome lags behind one full release because there's not enough time to integrate the new code before the ubuntu feature freeze [08:21] Ah, I see. Oh well, it is rather easy to update to 3.16.2, so no problem. [09:16] Spiderixius, pretty much as mgedmin said, although I would argue we only lag 3/4quarters of a release, since GNOME 3.1x.0 relases are generally pretty buggy [09:30] Ok thanks darkxst [09:33] I just installed 3.16.2 but and have reboot however right before desktop shows up there is a buggy looking view, it lasts for like 5 seconds and goes away, it has a lot of small squares going / [09:34] had the same issue on Fedora 22 but wouldn't consider it a big issue since it goes away in 5 seconds. [09:34] could be a gpu driver bug [09:35] Could very well be. I am using the open source driver, it worked fine for the 3.14.4 version [09:36] intel? [09:36] AMD [09:37] what gen? the older cards should work well [09:37] Under additional drivers it gives me the option to select the opensource one (already selected), AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx and AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx-updates [09:37] what generation gpu? [09:38] I believe i have Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series [09:40] It is not a gaming laptop, so it really doesn't matter. I just don't want it to bite me in the ass later on. [09:42] file an upstream bug if you want [09:43] Well, not sure yet [09:43] had the same exact problem on Fedora 22 with Gnome 3.16 [09:43] so, it could be gnome related [09:43] thats why you should file it upstream ;) [09:43] its clearly not an ubuntu bug [09:44] How would one do that? [09:44] bugzilla.gnome.org [09:44] Thank you. [09:45] file against gnome-shell, although probably its an issue in cogl or clutter [09:45] but the gnome devs will figure that out [09:46] however it worked fine on the previous version of gnome-shell, so I just think it is this version that is having an issue with my graphics card [09:46] but yes, I will file a bug and see what they come up with. [09:52] There we go. [09:54] Thanks for telling me how to file the bug, darkxst. [10:36] Hello. Is it possible to minimize all windows at once in gnome? I am aware of CTRL + ALT + D (show desktop) but was wondering if it is possible to minimize everything. [10:39] minimise doesnt really exist in gnome-shell so probably not [10:39] It does for me, I am able to activate it from within the tweak tool. [10:40] I am using Gnome 3.16 [10:50] Spiderixius, thats not technically officially supported though [10:50] True that. [10:50] and really makes little sense unless you use an extension that shows a task panel or whatever they call it [12:27] hi all [12:51] hi LinDol [12:51] bye Lindol, I need sleep now [12:52] darkxst, Have a good night :) [13:25] Hello, can I use kdeglobals for customizing kde apps on gnome ? === lonix_ is now known as lonix
