Zeiothbut you mean ubuntu right? not xubuntu00:55
Zeiothi think they said they wanted to wait a bit more to check if it's stable enough00:56
Zeioth(where did you read that by the way?)00:57

olzhasHello. I am on Xubuntu 14.04. I try to reset workspace switch keys to 'Ctrl-Alt-(KJHL)'. It works only for one session. After restart, everything is back to 'Ctrl-Alt-(Up/Down/Left/Right)'. However, the window manager settings wizard shows my original settings with 'HJKL' keys. How can I fix this?02:17
TrelDoes Xubuntu LTS (14.04) not have the startup app manager?03:33
LoganLinux2015@Trel: I see Session and Startup Manager in the Settings panel on 14.04.3 LTS Xubuntu.03:49
olzhasI also reset 'move window to workspace' keys to work with 'HJKL', and these keys are persistent (no problem).04:02
TrelLoganLinux2015, thanks.  It's a separate app in 15.10, I didn't think to look as part of the settings app04:07
Unit193...Nothing's changed in that area for Wily.04:16
pencilandpaper:)05:04
TrelUnit193: It may be in the same place, but it's definitely a separate app too.05:40

aaribaudHi all. Anyone know how to hide the "Other..." option in the xubuntu lightdm session greeter? My google-fu is failing me on this one.16:09
aaribaudI could only find directions to /enable/ it through [SeatDefaults] greeter-show-manual-login=true. I've tried with ...=false, no success.16:11
GridCubeaaribaud: hide that entry commenting the line? using # before the text16:13
aaribaudGridCube: there is actually no entry with greeter-show-manual-login16:14
aaribaudGridCube: at least none that a "sudo grep -ri manual /etc/lightdm/ /var/lib/lightdm* /usr/share/lightdm" shows.16:16
GridCubeaaribaud: /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf is what you want16:21
aaribaudGridCube: not in recent xubuntus, but anyway let me try it too...16:22
aaribaudGridCube: back in  minute with the result.16:23
aaribaudGridCube: just tried, doesnt work.16:24
GridCubemmhm16:27
aaribaudGridCube: OTOH, I had no problem getting rid of the guest login option by creating /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf.d/99-no-guest.conf with [SeatDefaults] allow-guest=false16:30
aaribaudGridCube: so clearly lightdm does read ...conf.d/*.conf16:31
GridCubemmhm16:31
aaribaudGridCube: it just does not take greeter-show-manual-login=false into account.16:31
GridCubetried creating an entry there, like 88-no-other.conf with the line?16:31
aaribaudGridCube: yes, no result. But I may actually have found a way. Testing, back in a min.16:35
aaribaudGridCube: ... I thought maybe the "greeter-" prefixing was optional (seeing as /usr/sbin/lightdm contains a string "greeter-allow-guest", so tried "show-manual-login=false", didn't work.16:38

aaribaudubottu: :)16:46
GridCubethat might just not be a variable though on the xubuntu greeter16:48
aaribaudGridCube: by the look of the patch, it does not seem so.16:50
aaribaudAnyway, subscribed to the bug report. Thanks GridCube and ubottu.16:56
geitdaIf I leave an XFCE session logged in long enough to lock itself, I can't VNC (to the built-in vino server, i.e. the real VGA console, not an X11VNC session) into it anymore; the screen stays black and doesn't appear to take any input. I can probably just disable the locking timeout so that it will never lock itself to get around this, but does anyone know what might be causing this?18:40
geitdaAnd by "screen stays black" I mean the VNC session window. I'm using TightVNC Viewer on WIN10_x86-64, but I don't think it makes a difference, since I can VNC in just fine if I connect to it before the lock screen activates. I have "log in automatically" set so that if I get locked out I can just reboot the whole machine to get back in.18:44
YngveHi all, I just installed Xubuntu 15.10. Everything works perfect, except that I'm not able to set my own wallpaper anymore."Set as Wallpaper" in the filebrowser doesn't seem to work, and I can not left click on the desktop to change the wallpaper. Any idea of what is wrong?18:44
drcYngve: Both work fine in my 15.10. But you do mean right click?18:46
YngveAh, yes, drc, right click :-)18:46
drcOK, both work for me...still looking...18:47
YngveThanks for helping out :-) I had a problem when installing, had to recover the installation. But everything works fine. Except from this little detail with the wallpaper.18:50
drcCan you set it thru Settings->Desktop?18:51
YngveI'll check, drc18:53
YngveI don't have any Settings->Desktop. Searching for desktop in Settings shows "Appearance" and "Session and Startup"18:56
YngveNone of them let my change the wallpaper18:56
drcMouse in upper left panel->Settings in right column or square icon at bottom-> Desktop.  You don't have this?18:58
YngveMmm, I'm not following now, drc19:00
YngveCan it be that I am missing xfdesktop4?19:00
YngveSeems like it it was not installed19:01
drcIMO, I'd just re-format and re-install.19:01
drcEven if you got this fixed, I'd have no trust that something else was bad.19:01
drcs/was/wasn't19:01
YngveOkey, thanks drc19:03
yngve_drc, that did the trick xfdesktop4 was missing. Now changing wallpaper is working :-)19:05
drcGlad you found and fixed the problem.  But, at the least, I'd keep a close eye on this box.19:06
