bisbyI have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos, in Ubuntu 15.04, brightness worked no questions asked out of the box. In xubuntu 15.10, I see the slider move and the values in /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/{brightness,max_brightness,actual_brightness} all change. Ive done several grub cmdline tweaks. Nothing seems to work. Is there any issues with laptop brightness in 15.10?01:11

Spass_hi, I have problem with copy&paste (by key shortcuts) in Thunar in 15.10, is this a known issue?04:07
Spass_cut&paste to be exact04:09
JohnnyComeL8lySpass_: does this look like what you're experiencing?04:14
JohnnyComeL8lyhttps://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11450#c10804:14
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 11450 in core "Thunar 1.64, 1.65, & 1.66 crash when moving files" [Critical,Resolved: fixed]04:14
Spass_yes similar, but I get something like this http://pastebin.com/GCUz2dsW04:21
Spass_now I use Thunar 1.6.10, on xubuntu 15.04 I did't have this problem04:23
JohnnyComeL8lyI'm using the same version, let me try to replicate this issue.04:27
JohnnyComeL8lySpass_, I just copied, using ^C and ^V, a 227 byte Minetest debug.txt04:29
JohnnyComeL8lyWhat size of file are you using?04:29
Spass_I think it crashes mostly when Cut04:29
Spass_when using keyboard shortcuts04:30
Spass_file is about 200kB04:30
Spass_it's a PDF with thumbnail04:31
Spass_sometimes it works ok, but it crashes very often04:32
Spass_and although it crashes, the file is moved correctly04:33
JohnnyComeL8lyI just did a cut (GUI) and paste (keyboard)04:38

JohnnyComeL8lyWhat is the shortcut for cut?04:46

JohnnyComeL8lyThx.04:46
JohnnyComeL8lyNo crashes.04:47
JohnnyComeL8lyI have a 226.4 kB png04:47

JohnnyComeL8lyDid you do a fresh install of Xubuntu 15.10 ?04:48
Spass_well, I can live with that :)04:48
Spass_nope, I've upgraded from 15.0404:48
JohnnyComeL8lyVannessaE on #minetest was telling me she had issues when she upgraded.04:48
JohnnyComeL8lyI've not noticed any issues, but it is just a point for consideration.04:49
Spass_I'm thinking about fresh install, because I sterted with Ubuntu, then I installed Xubuntu desktop, then upgraded to 15.10, so...04:49

w30How do you get xrdp (graphic login) working for rdesktop? remote desktop.15:18
w30all the icons are in /usr/share/xrdp but no avail. xrdp is inabled as a service, what else needs to be done?15:20
WalliskiWhat is the problem?15:42
JohnnyComeL8lyw30: ^^15:43
w30Walliski, I don't get the xrdp login gui in rdesktop with xrdp installed15:43
JohnnyComeL8lyI only tried once to do all that stuff... I didn't succeed.15:45
w30a gui box with password and user name places15:45
w30there is a couple of utube videos that shows it working but not how...15:46
JohnnyComeL8lyBut, that's where I failed.... You have to suck and suck and suck until you suck-a-seed (succeed).15:46
JohnnyComeL8lyYeah, those people aren't very helpful.15:47
JohnnyComeL8lyI got that from a farmer (Joel Salatin), who got it from his dad.15:48

w30gotta have a few turds laying around.15:53
JohnnyComeL8lyrofl15:53
w30any way; I hope someone fixes it.15:54
JohnnyComeL8lyIdk what exactly you are experiencing, so theirs an even slimmer chance that a dev (who hasn't time for vague issues) to fix *it*.15:55
JohnnyComeL8ly(You haven't really given much to work with.)15:56
w30xrdp is supposed to launch a window inside the rdesktop window to graphically present a user and password type in box to send rdesktop to the correct computer. rdesktop itself accepts -u <user> and -p <password> flags on the command line invokation.15:59
w30rdesktop works as advertised, it's the xrdp that does not appear in the remote desktop box if you don't put in the flags.16:01
w30http://imgur.com/33pnTAG16:03
w30it's the grey box that needs to appear if xrdp daemon is running. (I think)16:08

knobHey guys.  I want to add an internal hdd to my machine.  I am using full-disk encryption on the main hdd.  Can somebody provide some direction as to how to add a full-disk encrypted hdd?18:15
kozukumihello, i have an issue with wifi not working after resuming from suspend (15.10). a copy of journalctl is here http://pastebin.com/2Ndc3W7018:19
knobHello again... referencing the above question (full disk-encryption for an additional hdd).  Is it possible to enter the key at system startup?18:40
JohnnyComeL8lykozukumi: it looks like you might have turned off your WiFi through a switch on the side of your PC... maybe check  rfkill list wifi  for whether or not it is blocked.  Soft block is software blocking, and hard block is a physical switch you can toggle.18:41
knobLike the current OS' full disk-encryption setup?18:41
JohnnyComeL8lyknob, I haven't done anythink like that.18:41
knobJohnnyComeL8ly, thanks.  I ask because on the inital Xubuntu setup, I did full-disk encrpt.  And all is good.  Yet now I want to add an internal hdd to the machine, yet have it encrypted.  Not sure how to go about it.18:42

pleia2xubuntu10w: yes, that's what this channel is for :) ask away!23:05
xubuntu10wCool! Im having an issue I believe is related to light-dm. On bootup, after being greeted by the login prompt, my screen blinks a few times. Havnt noticed it anywhere else in the OS.23:06
xubuntu10wI've tested on multiple hardware configurations and multiple installs. Issue persists.23:07
knomexubuntu10w, so... does it just blink and then work as expected?23:13
xubuntu10wyeah, the real issue is it usually happens while inputing my password. It seems to inturrupt input so I have to reinput my password. Not a big deal but pretty annoying.23:14
knomeare you using a proprietary driver for your graphics card?23:15
xubuntu10wNope, just whataver xubuntu pulls down for intel hd 4000.23:16
xubuntu10wOther hardware I tried it on all had intel graphics as well.23:17
xubuntu73wsorry , I disconnect there.23:18
xubuntu73w*disconnected23:18
xubuntu73wI looked into downgrading light-dm but it looks like a nightmare.23:19
knomexubuntu10w, does the blinking happen fast after you see the login screen and does it take a lot of time?23:21
knomeor is it like instant23:21
xubuntu73wIt varies. Usually about a second or two after login appears and about 1 second in duration.23:22
knomeweird23:22
xubuntu73wSomtimes the screen simply turns off and back on quickly and somtimes it flashes twice.23:23
knomemaybe you should file a bug23:23
xubuntu73wThats where I was headed next. Im a total newbie though. Where exactly on launchpad does that go?23:24
knomeonce you've registered a launchpad account, the easiest way to start filing the bug is to run "ubuntu-bug lightm" in the terminal23:25
xubuntu73wOk cool, thats what I figured but I wasnt sure if xubuntu had a specific spot or if it all fell under the ubuntu flag. Thats really neat you can open from terminal. Thanks for the help.23:26
