[10:19] lol [10:19] clearly doesn't believe in spring cleaning, aka PEBKAS error [10:21] cfhowlett: you need a w10 theme lol? http://linux.softpedia.com/blog/windows-10-accurate-theme-released-for-almost-all-major-linux-desktops-496831.shtml [10:21] read wha ... oh HELL no! [10:21] :p:p [10:21] I saw that and said "meh!" [10:38] he keeps talking and talking and no action [10:39] yeah, I see that. [10:47] lotuspsychje, I've seen his pattern and added to /ignore. He's attention trolling. [10:48] yeah [12:00] Howdy folks [12:01] Hi everyone [12:13] 'Morning pauljw [12:13] hi BluesKaj :) [12:38] Hi cfhowlett [12:38] hidiho BluesKaj [12:38] :-) [12:42] BBL , gotta check something [14:44] brb [16:31] good evening to all [18:36] lotuspsychje: howdy \o [18:36] hey daftykins [18:36] cor, 50mph winds down on the island here D: [18:36] hows you mate [18:36] yeah we got strong storm also [18:36] good thanks :D tad windswept though! yourself? [18:36] fine here tnx [18:36] just been to scrub up my other bike that i took away to Wales, as it'd been at my parents since [18:37] i'm being forced to take it back again so my folks can get their motorbikes in and out :> [18:37] :p [18:38] oooh i can hardly wait for the week to start, to get all my deliveries ^_^ [18:38] the mobile glass front? [18:39] yep, plus the SSD, £200 Lenovo laptop and bluray Battlestar Galactica set i snagged in the sales [18:39] ohhhh [18:39] wich ssd was it? [18:39] lol you buy dvd's? [18:39] 240GB SanDisk Plus, for £33 delivered. Low end, but still MLC [18:40] ah right neat price [18:40] and goes rocketfast also [18:40] i own exactly one bluray set right now, this'll be my second - i tend to splash out if it's a series i'd really like to see again [18:40] daftykins: gonna run w10 on it? [18:40] daftykins: check qbittorrent :p [18:41] oh trust me i have my sources for such things, just didn't fancy it this time [18:41] ;) [18:41] or gonna run linux on it? [18:41] well the cheap Lenovo is going to the guy i got that 27" screen in for, as it's new enough to drive 2560x1440 over HDMI - so he'll run 10 on it probably as he will be using it for architects drawings [18:41] ah kk [18:42] i may be able to sell him that SSD to put in it, depends if he'll be willing to cover my time to do it - the machine comes with a 1TB spinner :> [18:43] 1TB out and in enclosure and ssd in [18:43] or does the laptop handle double hd? [18:43] most likely not... but yeah, could get an optical drive bay to put it in [18:43] or i'm sure i could make use with it in my special enclosure for my xbox otherwise ;) [18:44] im gonna do that with ssd+ubuntu transforms on existing laptops [18:44] mmm, good way to keep folks data then [18:44] plugout their existing mechanical hd and put in sata enclosure [18:44] i do find that's the most time consuming part of support tasks, just shunting peoples digital lives around before you can work :P [18:44] yeah [18:46] hmm that latest 352 nvidia driver seems to cause alot of issues [18:46] had several users to revert to older driver versions [18:46] that could be why i don't seem to be able to get anyone's optimus setup working when i suggest it :( [18:46] yeah [18:47] the guy i just helped got optimus aswell [18:47] it can be a right tricky devil :) [18:47] think it works best with optimus+340 or 346 [18:48] mmm, probably ok when the mobile chip is an 'older' one that's already in 346 [18:48] supported by 346, i mean [18:53] hey EriC^^ [18:54] hey lotuspsychje [18:54] EriC^^: what happened to the sattelite? [18:55] haven't replaced the part yet [18:55] im gonna watch klitschko vs fury in a bit :p [18:55] he lost [18:55] we have another satellite registration ( the local satellite distributor ) so it's ok [18:56] EriC^^: nice [19:09] bbl guys watching heavyweight boxing [19:09] bye [19:09] \o [19:09] hey daftykins and all [19:10] hey pauljw! hey EriC^^ :D sorry i fell asleep the other time i said hi :> [19:10] :) [19:10] i've been in and out too [19:11] might be time to do that whole food thing i'm so fond of! [19:13] :) [19:56] Hi everyone - I'm new to ubuntu / linux, but want to learn more about networking and security. Are there any 'projects' you could recommend, so that I could learn using a hands on approach? [19:56] i got a good background by setting myself the task of setting up a wordpress website from ubuntu server a while back [19:57] the free course LFS101x on edx.org is also a good primer on Linux aspects [19:57] perhaps creating two VMs that can file share via samba would also be a good one [19:57] ah - I was thinking about edx courses. That sounds like a good idea to me. [19:58] cheers for the tips :) === not_phunyguy is now known as phunyguy === lordievader is now known as Guest72345 [23:33] i do so enjoy those users with the periodic updates
