[05:37] morning [05:52] morning everyone [05:58] hi Kilos, how goes? [05:59] good ty thatgraemeguy and you? [05:59] lekker thanks :) [06:31] ola all [06:47] guten morgen [07:31] hi pieter2627 inetpro [17:52] hoi superfly gremble inetpro Cryterion [17:52] ohi actually [17:57] Hey Kilos [17:57] How are you this evening [17:57] good ty and you? [17:58] I am well thank you [17:58] Had a delicious spurt of rain now [18:00] lucky [18:32] surp [18:44] hi ateKORE [18:45] welcome to ubuntu-za [18:46] hi qwebirc69858 [18:46] yea, just lurking? [18:46] welcome to ubuntu-za [18:47] ateKORE if you need linux help just state your problem and someone will help you as soon as they get a chance [18:48] if you are an expert hang around and you can help someone else [18:49] no probs, just lurking to learn from other people's probs. my arch is running just fine :) [18:49] lol [18:49] actually linux is getting so good, that not many need help anymore [18:51] Another arch user [18:51] :P [18:51] Hey ateKORE [18:56] hey gremble xD, which DE? [18:56] Openbox and i3 [18:57] I'm actually running antegros at the moment [18:57] Pretty much arch with numix [18:59] i'm on gnome3. how's i3 compared to bspwm, coz i was using bspwm before. [19:00] I've tried using bspwm but I am not clever enough to get it set up [19:00] i3 is fantastic [19:00] It is by far my favourite wm [19:03] nice. bspwm isnt that difficult to set up, though a bunch of the dot-files online come with scripts you have to tweak a little [19:34] night all. sleep tight [19:34] Night Kilos [19:34] ateKORE: Perhaps I will give it a whirl when I get a HDD in install arch on it [19:36] yea, tried installing gentoo in vm, failed. gonna try again, it's so technical xD. compiling the kernel, deciding what the kernel needs and doesnt need. [19:36] *vbox vm [19:37] I've compiled a couple of kernels, not that hard at least. The first time is somewhat of a mission [19:37] gentoo's portage sortof got me over the novelty [19:37] I wanted librea office. It took like a day and a half to compile [19:40] day and a half is pretty long. though as much as i hate to admit it, msoffice beats libre by a longshot. I used to have a win7 in vm to use office [19:42] Mon Feb 9 19:02:15 2015 >>> app-office/libreoffice-4.3.5.2 [19:42] merge time: 2 hours, 57 minutes and 51 seconds. [19:42] you need a new CPU :) [19:42] Haha that may also be true [19:43] also gentoo has binaries for things like libreoffice [19:44] libreoffice-bin firefox-bin etc. so compiling is not strictly necessary for the big stuff [19:44] I didn't know that gentoo did binaries [19:45] I would like to do FreeBSD but I don't know if it integrates as well with day-to-day use as gnu/linux does [19:45] msoffice being better than libreoffice, well I guess that depends on your frame of reference and what you are doing, I've certainly seen some instances where the opposite applies [19:46] libreoffice implements comments and track changes poorly. Or at least in a non-mscompatible way [19:46] Which is somewhat bothersome [19:52] im out, later
