[06:24] hi all;D [06:28] it's monday, happiness is banned... [06:32] oh [06:32] im about to watch homeland [06:32] that makes me happy [09:02] <_shaun_> hi guys i have a massive image that ubuntu insists on printing to one page, how do i print this image to multiple pages? [09:13] _shaun_: This looks like it might do what you need https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/photoprint/ [09:13] Although not available for more recent releases [09:16] _shaun_: http://askubuntu.com/questions/18698/printing-a-poster-over-several-sheets-of-paper [09:18] _shaun_: you basically need a tool to do it for you, the default print dialog is basic and designed on the whole for general printing needs [09:20] aloha [09:33] <_shaun_> thanks guys id like to find something native to ubuntu but ill look at the tools use describe [09:36] irssi has 2 windows open for a chan. if i /wc it closes both. any ideas? [09:39] Perhaps /wc is aliases to /leave? [09:45] morning all [10:09] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfPdYYsEfAE crying my ribs hurt so much [10:11] morning boys and girls. [10:15] I love my morning scan of the video scope on the ubuntu phone :) [10:16] * brobostigon wants to get his hands on the pebble compatibility. [10:19] i think i've watched less than 2-3 youtube videos on mobile devices as the speed is so sucky even on wifi. [10:25] seriously? what kind of mobile devices? [10:26] symbian, iphones, android devices... [10:26] strange! only time i've had issues was the other morning when the island wide tubes issue was going on [10:47] nearly 11am and still dark enough to need a light on... [10:48] and you'll still see cars without lights on [10:51] tarmac/sky coloured cars [10:53] hmm, time to update myself on the dreaded MS Office costs o0 [10:54] kidney for the software and your sanity for the usage... :-) [10:56] daftykins: it's about £7 a month for home version, i'm guessing you're wanting business? [10:56] not for me, but yeah pricing it up for someone [10:56] i still don't think the subscription model makes sense for most [10:57] daftykins: just cancelled mine. [10:59] for example £150 home and business 2016; vs. £7/user/month [10:59] plus i bet that's inclusive of tax [11:00] or you can get a code/download off amazon UK for £44.52 including tax [11:01] daftykins: ? office 2016? [11:01] 365 personal for 1 user for 1 year, that is [11:01] http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Office-365-Personal-Subscription/dp/B00GLOMNNQ/ [11:01] so yeah, that'd give both 2013 and 2016 download access [11:02] yes just seen it [11:02] mine is the 5 user one, so all my family can use it [11:02] yep [11:02] this is for someone who i ordered this surface pro 4 for, who doesn't have a family yet :> [11:03] there is only one computer in our house at the moment too lol [11:03] O_O [11:04] until we get our extension and I get an office back :) [11:05] drat, the sun coming through the window is showing me just how dusty my screens are :( [11:07] time to ban the cat from the room i think [11:08] the battle begins... :-) [11:34] * awilkins has an Office365 sub for business reasons, his employer pays for it [11:36] awilkins: nice [11:37] Yeah, the downside is people expect you to use it to make Word documents and write Excel macros, bah. [11:38] ugh [11:38] tell me about it, although we're on an older version at work :) [11:38] Nastiest VBA project I ever worked on was a modelling tool made of Visio, VB6 DLLs, and VBA. [11:39] The main developer had the lovely habit of putting "On Error Resume Next" at the top of every routine [11:40] Which meant that it just silently swallowed all errors and careened onward not giving a whit [11:40] * awilkins ripped out all that and put in proper stack-tracing error handling [11:40] I'm just getting my head around progress abl at the moment :D [11:40] Doesn't help that some of the stock VBA classes need errors to work with them [11:40] Like VBA.Collection [11:41] Which has no .Exists() method [11:41] You just call .Item(thing) and catch the error that it throws when it doesn't have .Item(thing) [11:58] JamesTait: a song to help you write letters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrIqSlt9PXg === alan_g is now known as alan_g|lunch [14:06] is it just me, or does candyhero.com not work? [14:07] you [14:08] omg!! they do jazzies [14:08] https://candyhero.com/fazer-marianne-chocolate-filled-mints ;____; [14:08] nuuuuuuuuu Out of stoooockkkk https://candyhero.com/fazer-wiener-nougat-210g [14:09] yeah choco jazzles are always out of stock! [14:10] is it a uk based site? where is all the sweets coming from? [14:10] are* [14:11] ahh they have shops in Leeds, Bradford and york..hmm never heard of them before === alan_g|lunch is now known as alan_g === apt-get-moo_ is now known as apt-get-moo [14:28] Myrtti: candygram for mongo, candygram for mongo....works here :) [14:29] mongo like candy [14:30] mongo only pawn in game of life [14:39] Mongo is web scale [14:40] But not as fast as /dev/null, him told [14:41] those statements are made all the more apt by the existence of a friends dog, named Mongo [14:52] I don't know what webscale is supposed to mean :'( [14:53] i think it involves spiders [14:53] SuperMatt: it means that it can do something. on a machine. [14:53] I've got a web scale raspberry pi [14:53] It will stay up if you get slashdotted [14:53] it's a model B (first gen) [14:54] Or whatever the hip version of slashdot is nowadays [14:54] pwaring: surely that would be "slashdot proof" [14:55] web scale as a term says nothing about slashdot [14:55] it's like leveraging. just a marketing term that managers think they understand but actually means nothing [14:56] and synergies [14:56] "product X leverages it's synergies to guarantee web scale" [14:56] Damn, yours too? [14:57] * awilkins gets on to marketing to write some new copy [14:57] marketing is effectively buzzword bingo [14:57] I thought we had a USP! [14:57] omg, I want a USP! [14:58] our KPIs are good this month I hear [14:59] careful now, my bollockometer just went to 10 [15:00] zmoylan-pi: ours goes up to 11 [15:00] it's 1 faster [15:00] diddledan_: I hope you put in 110% to meet your KPIs [15:01] ofc [15:01] I always put in 110% [15:01] I feel anything less than 110% isn't worth trying [15:01] except on feb 29 when you put in an extra 10% [15:01] This reminds of the laughs we used to have reading out loud and 'translating' memos from University manglement [15:02] manglement :-p [15:02] Well they certainly don't manage [15:03] :D === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [17:04] hmm, I appear to be unable to get to wordpress.tv [17:09] ok here, sir [17:11] aha, there we go [17:43] diddledan_: I see you misplet KIPS earlier but don't worry we knew what you meant ;) === Lcawte is now known as Lcawte|Away [18:07] KIPS? [18:07] KPIs as in plural of KPI. === alan_g is now known as alan_g|EOD === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [18:54] diddledan_: you can't fool me, you misspelt Kips as in naps you are up to 110% kips I can thoroughly believe ;) [19:22] Evening guys [19:22] o/ [21:09] hmm... what happened to optical disc support in linux? [21:09] i haven't used it in years... now i try and it's all over the place [21:09] disc doesn't auto mount when you put it in [21:10] then i mounted it manually only to find the mount point completely empty [21:10] then when i tried to unmount it it said it wasn't mounted [21:10] then it refused to mount it again because it's already mounted [21:10] so i tried to dd the disc to an iso and mount that [21:10] but now it think every disc i put in is the exact same size [21:25] works fine afaict [21:26] ubuntu mounts optical discs under /media [21:27] /media// I believe
