vuk_Hello17:38
vuk_I am trying to boot my Thinkpad L420 from USB with Xubuntu 15.10 in it, but it will not boot up on this laptop. It boots up fine in my other Thinkpad. Any idea why?17:38
vuk_I get to the screen with the options "Install, Test without installing, etc", I select one of them, it splashes once, then it gets stuck there!17:38
vuk_Any help is appreciated.17:38
geniivuk_: Are both machines the same model?17:45
vuk_genii: No, other is different Thinkpad model17:45
vuk_So annoying, I need to get done installing it by tonight.17:47
genii!nomodeset | vuk_ Did you try this yet?17:47
ubottuvuk_ Did you try this yet?: A common kernel (boot)parameter is nomodeset, which is needed for some graphic cards that otherwise boot into a black screen or show corrupted splash screen. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter17:47
geniiI'm back and forth from trying to eat my lunch, so please tolerate some lag between questions and replies :)17:47
vuk_Checking into that, thanks. I am reading the guide on the thread, seems a bit outdated in terms of where and how.17:49
vuk_How do I do this when booting from 15.10 Xubuntu live USB?17:50
vuk_I pressed TAB on my keyboard, where exactly do I add that command?17:50
geniiI believe the F6 method works for all flavours, then the boot options appear at the bottom, where you append to those17:51
vuk_Dont get anything when I prefer F6 while I am at the  menu.17:52
vuk_press*17:52
krytarikvuk_: Ftm, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions17:53
vuk_Managed to boot up and currently installing the fresh Xubuntu :) Thanks18:32
vuk_I am having a problem with the battery applet. It will not show up, same as with Kubuntu 15.10. Any idea how to track this bug and fix it? I really need the battery applet to show up.18:32
vuk_The Power Manager Plugin is disabled when I try to add it!18:33
krytarikvuk_: Reg. the latter, that's because it's already added to the panel by default.  Reg. the first, it'd appear UPower doesn't detect your laptop's battery for some reason - is ACPI enabled, for example?  ( https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upower/+bugs )19:06
xubuntu50whello! i'm having trouble setting up an openvpn connection in xubuntu21:32
xubuntu50wit says that it connects fine but i cant even ping other computers21:33
xubuntu50wi think maybe something is wrong with the routes that are added after the connection is made21:33
xubuntu50wi can use the openvpn application with the same files (certificates, keys, config) and everything works fine, so no errors there21:34
xubuntu50wthe problem only appears when using the built-in vpn connection tool21:34
xubuntu50whttp://pastebin.com/WsW9EAiU here i've pasted what route -vn reports21:38
xubuntu50wfor each case (no vpn, openvpn application, built-in)21:38
xubuntu50wcan you give me a hint what to look for to fix this problem?21:38
xubuntu50wthe most obvious difference is that when im using the built-in functionality there is an extra route added, which i do not fully understand21:39
xubuntu32dcan anyone help me where to find Hardware profile22:47

SlidingHornxubuntu32d: "not work" doesn't tell us much.  What didn't work, how did it respond, and what error message(s) did you receive?23:02

SlidingHornbazhang: They're trying to walk through the steps here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Hardware  <~  It specifically wanted hardinfo instead of hwinfo...I just want to make sure their report is exactly as it's supposed to be for this particular purpose23:14
