[10:29] hi there, I'm running xubuntu 15.10 and cannot mount my usb DVD drive, any suggestions? === BalTun is now known as baltun === baltun is now known as BalTun [17:38] Hello [17:38] I am trying to boot my Thinkpad L420 from USB with Xubuntu 15.10 in it, but it will not boot up on this laptop. It boots up fine in my other Thinkpad. Any idea why? [17:38] I get to the screen with the options "Install, Test without installing, etc", I select one of them, it splashes once, then it gets stuck there! [17:38] Any help is appreciated. [17:45] vuk_: Are both machines the same model? [17:45] genii: No, other is different Thinkpad model [17:47] So annoying, I need to get done installing it by tonight. [17:47] !nomodeset | vuk_ Did you try this yet? [17:47] vuk_ Did you try this yet?: A common kernel (boot)parameter is nomodeset, which is needed for some graphic cards that otherwise boot into a black screen or show corrupted splash screen. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter [17:47] I'm back and forth from trying to eat my lunch, so please tolerate some lag between questions and replies :) [17:49] Checking into that, thanks. I am reading the guide on the thread, seems a bit outdated in terms of where and how. [17:50] How do I do this when booting from 15.10 Xubuntu live USB? [17:50] I pressed TAB on my keyboard, where exactly do I add that command? [17:51] I believe the F6 method works for all flavours, then the boot options appear at the bottom, where you append to those [17:52] Dont get anything when I prefer F6 while I am at the menu. [17:52] press* [17:53] vuk_: Ftm, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions [18:32] Managed to boot up and currently installing the fresh Xubuntu :) Thanks [18:32] I am having a problem with the battery applet. It will not show up, same as with Kubuntu 15.10. Any idea how to track this bug and fix it? I really need the battery applet to show up. [18:33] The Power Manager Plugin is disabled when I try to add it! [19:06] vuk_: Reg. the latter, that's because it's already added to the panel by default. Reg. the first, it'd appear UPower doesn't detect your laptop's battery for some reason - is ACPI enabled, for example? ( https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upower/+bugs ) [21:32] hello! i'm having trouble setting up an openvpn connection in xubuntu [21:33] it says that it connects fine but i cant even ping other computers [21:33] i think maybe something is wrong with the routes that are added after the connection is made [21:34] i can use the openvpn application with the same files (certificates, keys, config) and everything works fine, so no errors there [21:34] the problem only appears when using the built-in vpn connection tool [21:38] http://pastebin.com/WsW9EAiU here i've pasted what route -vn reports [21:38] for each case (no vpn, openvpn application, built-in) [21:38] can you give me a hint what to look for to fix this problem? [21:39] the most obvious difference is that when im using the built-in functionality there is an extra route added, which i do not fully understand [22:47] can anyone help me where to find Hardware profile [22:47] ? [22:49] xubuntu32d: what exactly are you looking for? [22:51] I want to make Tracker ISO QA [22:52] and I see "write URL" of Hardware profile [22:52] "URL to the hardware profile" [22:53] xubuntu32d: Here you go: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Hardware [22:54] thank you very much [23:01] SlidinHorn the commands not work? [23:02] xubuntu32d: "not work" doesn't tell us much. What didn't work, how did it respond, and what error message(s) did you receive? [23:03] I cant install tools with this commands [23:04] I see this "Unable to locate package" [23:07] xubuntu32d: which tool(s) - please be as specific as possible when requesting support so everyone can try to accurately diagnose the problem [23:08] hardinfo - Gets the information. gist - Sends the information to Gist. clipit - Reports back the link.
