MysteryHello all00:42
mr_seansCould use a hand - been trying everything I can find on the web to make this happen - I'm on a HP Folio 13 Ultrabook, Ubuntu 15.10 Gnome - I want to make the system hibernate on lid close, wake on lid open - and nothing I do seems to make this behavior possible.  Anyone have any ideas/suggestions/run into anything like this?02:07
georgeowellwhat have you tried?02:18
mr_seansyeah, can't figure this out - Ubuntu 15.10 Gnome Edition - system is set to hibernate on lid close, but on lid close it suspends.  Tried everything I can find to fix this, it's making me crazy.  Anyone have any ideas?02:19
darkxstHi LaurentiuBirton04:35
LaurentiuBirtonHi, it's my first time here, so what should I do?04:36
darkxstare you logged into the VM?04:36
LaurentiuBirtonI started it, but it won't boot up04:37
darkxstdo you have a text based login you can use?04:38
darkxstdo you see04:38
LaurentiuBirtonWow it actually opened this and booted up04:38
LaurentiuBirtonIt seems to hapen arbitrarily04:38
darkxstok so login, then have a look in /var/log/04:40
darkxsthopefully there is an Xorg.0.log.old that has the last failed boot attempt in that04:41
darkxstif you upload that to pastebin.com or similar, I can take a quick look to see if its relevant04:43
LaurentiuBirtonthere is no such file there04:44
darkxsthmm, you can also use journalctl command, but that will only get the current boot04:46
LaurentiuBirtonwould it help with anything?04:47
darkxstno not if current boot worked04:48
LaurentiuBirtonshould I try a few more boots and report the test case as successful and the failed boot as a bug?04:49
darkxstyes but run this first : install -d -g systemd-journal /var/log/journal04:49
darkxstthat way journalctl will keep the old logs04:49
darkxstso we can get them back if it fails again04:50
LaurentiuBirtonokay04:50
LaurentiuBirtonthere is a the journal directory now in /var/log, should I start booting it up again?04:54
darkxstyes04:56
darkxstreboot a few times and see if it crashes04:56
LaurentiuBirtonI had 3 reboots, all successful05:02
darkxsttry a few more05:03
LaurentiuBirtonsure05:03
darkxstthough maybe it just failed to shutdown the first time, when you clicked restert?05:04
LaurentiuBirtondid it 7 times, all good. And no, I started the virtual machine again, and it wouldn't boot up05:07
darkxstLaurentiuBirton, ok, update you qa report with some more details05:08
LaurentiuBirtonalright05:09
darkxstnot sure there is much point filing a bug, since there is nothing to go on, but just write a short report about what you did etc and attach to the task05:09
LaurentiuBirtonyou want to see anything from that journal folder?05:11
darkxstno, that will only help if you reproduce a failed boot!05:12
LaurentiuBirtonI sent a link to the test case on the task page05:17
darkxstyes that is good, just submit the task05:21
darkxstTake a look at some of the other Ubuntu GNOME tasks, or I can create a tailored one for you if there is something particular you would like to work on05:22
