[05:07] hi;]7 [05:30] no night owls up? [06:08] morning [06:10] join #xps13 #reddit [07:07] mornign [10:33] morning boys and girls. === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte === Lcawte is now known as Lcawte|Away [13:19] hello;] [13:19] hey [13:20] homeland finale tonight;D === Lcawte|Away is now known as Lcawte [20:30] another rocket going-up at 01:29 - this one from spacex and they're going to attempt another landing, this time back at launch site rather than a barge : http://www.spacex.com/webcast/ [20:31] the video hasn't started yet tho [20:31] I wonder why they decided not to go with the barge this time; a barge sounds like a much better place to land stuff [20:32] penguin42: less moving target :-p [20:32] that's a guess tho [20:32] I don't know the answer [20:34] pity, their barges had nice names [20:35] * daftykins is playing with Server 2012 R2 and Hyper-V for a job at his old College [20:35] damn it's horrible :P [20:39] heh [20:40] they're running out of barges? :-P [20:41] yeah, torpedoing them doesn't help [20:41] pesky nasa zeros? :-) [20:42] yeah. that and weirdo decimal points. and weirdo conversions between feet and cm [20:42] when working for nasa, always remember to not carry the 1 [20:42] we should all switch to smoots... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoot [20:48] I like that teh googs does smoots [20:50] diddledan__: i think you just had a seizure mid-sentence there [20:50] lol [20:51] no no 'e's trying to be hip, down and cool with the kids :-) [20:53] i had him pegged for doing a voice artist try out for the chef on the muppets [20:54] der smooty booty dooty? [20:54] ho-hoo, careful with that talk around here ;) [20:55] minds in the gutter... [20:55] haha [20:55] i'll have you know i was expecting you to steal the last booty we plundered [20:56] der smooley doodey [20:56] ^ what my nephew is good at! [20:56] i was about to suggest my cat had a paw in that one [20:57] pooley. dats der smooley doodey! [20:57] don't you love that the web was invented to facilitate the end of the world research (nuclear bombs) [20:58] (that's what cern is all about, right?) :-p [20:58] makes me a tad con-cern'd [21:01] it's what the cats would have wanted... :-) [21:02] well when we nuke ourselves to oblivion, the radiation will help the cockroaches to attain sentience [21:02] i thought lawyers were sentient? [21:33] lol: https://twitter.com/meganamram/status/678688132640825344 [21:47] this is hilarious, to manage this Server 2012 R2 system i need a *second* one to put the management tools on [21:50] so when poop hits the fan you need 2 working systems to fix things... brilliant... :-) [21:54] daftykins: you can put the management tools on a normal windows [21:55] they advise against SCVMM being on the Hyper-V host [21:55] so yeah a client console could be on a normal OS, but then SCVMM they talk about being on a VM (which is lulzworthy) or on another host [21:55] daftykins: http://blogs.technet.com/b/canitpro/archive/2015/09/03/rsat-tools-for-windows-10.aspx looks like you need pro though [21:56] oh scvmm [21:56] dang [21:56] piddly little toy oses... :-) [21:56] wait, you put the management console in a machine that it's managing? [21:56] yeah XD [21:56] inception! [21:56] sounds like eggs and baskets eh? [21:57] if it's a small installation it *should* be an ok thing to do... [21:57] zmoylan-pi: and yep, i'd like to take them off windows server but would likely have an uphill battle from their own IT support department :( [21:57] daftykins: Drop them into having win server as a guest under KVM ? [21:58] * zmoylan-pi remembers running company mail server on windows 95 plus our office wiki. till it was all replaced with a small business server install that failed a few times per week... [21:58] such a terrible os [21:59] well the use-case is my old College, where groups of 12-16 students at a time (a class) would be setting up VMs to learn OS installs as part of a full Windows domain, and/or Linux and Windows desktop OSs [21:59] i know what was on this big chunky server with oodles of RAM when i taught there 5 years ago, but i'm not sure if it's changed [21:59] i would likely want to switch to running a free education license of vmware instead [22:02] server becomes a drone box, maximise the use of resources on it instead of some silly Windows Server product... then just one client program at the other end to manage it [22:02] that windows 95 server also held a bigfoot drive i found for all our office 'media'... such a faithful little server... :-) [22:03] haha, spain's "Popular Party" has won the election. That's a great name, like the "Tooting Popular Front" [22:03] and not the peoples popular party...? [22:03] XD [22:03] nor the popular people's party [23:30] oh, they've delayed the launch [23:30] https://j.mp/1UT9kB2 [23:30] they're waiting for lemon soaked napkins to be delivered?
