mausschubser_ok, good night00:01
valorieBlueProtoman: ?00:04
valoriewhile some interaction in IRC is immediate, you get so much more if you hang around.....00:07
QuantosYeah, there's nothing like the satisfactory feeling of being ignored ;)00:08
BlueProtomanvalorie: Sorry, I'm also working on homework.  I can't babysit my chat log, so I check it every so often.00:08
valorieI gave a very thorough answer above00:09
valorieperhaps you missed it because there was another conversation going on at the same time00:09
valoriethat's how IRC works00:09
BlueProtomanvalorie: Might have.  Here, or in #kde-devel?00:09
valorieah, I see, I got them mixed up00:10
valoriethis is why it's bad to post in multiple places00:10
valorie#kde-devel is also not a support chan00:10
valorieQuantos: I've been there00:11
BlueProtomanvalorie: At any rate, if http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KDE+Service+Menu+PDF?content=37321 is KDE4 only, that's a problem.  I'd be happy to port it to KDE5...but how?00:11
valoriebut usually I'm on the other end00:11
valorieBlueProtoman: write to the developer via kde-apps, I suppose00:11
QuantosLOL ;)  I'm just teasing, I have no complaints over how IRC works00:11
valoriethat is a message board00:11
valorieQuantos: I do try to remember, because when I've got some horrible problem, it is terrible to wait even a few mins00:12
valoriemuch less hours00:12
BlueProtomanvalorie: Or, I could port it to KDE5 myself.  If there were good documentation for doing so, I'd be doing it right now.00:13
QuantosLOL, I think my most terrible wait was trying to figure out how to install KDEKonnect into Windows with KDEInstaller00:13
QuantosThe only useful cell phone utility out there, and it's not ported to windows00:13
valorieQuantos: were you able to connect with the devels?00:14
QuantosNo, I didn't think of that00:14
valorieI know one of them is in transit right now - Seattle > Spain > Ecuador00:14
QuantosI just assume that they'll get around to a port of it eventually00:15
valoriebut he's not alone00:15
valorieif they have help.....00:15
valoriealso, #kde-windows might help00:15
QuantosIt's okay though, I'm only running Win for a couple more weeks, then I can go back to my friendly reliable Linux00:15
valoriethey'll know about porting efforts and can help00:15
BlueProtomanvalorie: Do you happen to know anything about KDE services for Dolphin/Konqueror?00:16
valoriethe wonderful thing about kubuntu and KDE both is that the devels will talk to you, either on IRC or on mail lists00:16
QuantosI'm just putting myself through hell to learn a bit about Windows00:16
QuantosYeah, I've never really had an issue, even with that KDEKonnect thing it was only about a two hour wait for someone that knows00:17
valorieBlueProtoman: I know that dolphin has been ported00:19
valoriebut the work is not yet done00:19
valorieif you are willing to help port: http://developer.kde.org/~cfeck/portingstatus.html00:19

calcmandanmorning folks. i'm installing and enabling two factor auth on my kubuntu desktop. i'm following the directions whereby the guide is using ubuntu. to enable graphical two factor the guide states to edit /etc/pam.d/lightdm. I don't have that file in pam.d. What would be a kubuntu alternative?10:32
calcmandansddm?10:32
calcmandanby the way, it's google authenticator10:40
Smurphycalcmandan: Why 2 factor authentication ? To do what ?10:59
calcmandancurrently, it's a test to see if it works. downloaded the google authenticator PAM from the repos.11:00
shadyzwanna install Kubuntu on my laptop...is it gonna help my battery last11:01
SmurphyAh. ok.11:02
calcmandanthen generated the keys. if it works, i'm going to use it to log into my laptop. i take it around everywhere I go and, in the event it gets stolen, i have another layer of. the directions i'm at, this moment, enables the graphical window during login to enter the key from google authenticator on my android.11:02
SmurphyI don't use that, and enabling google for 2factor auth enables google to collect even more metadata about you.11:02
calcmandanusing this guide: https://www.maketecheasier.com/login-linux-desktop-google-authenticator/11:02
Smurphycalcmandan: Only way to really protect your laptop if it gets stolen, is to actually encrypt your drive and all content.11:03
=== balu is now known as Guest76065
calcmandani thought it was simply a time based algorithm.11:03
calcmandandrive is encrypted.11:03
SmurphyBut connecting to a third party for the 2nd factor.11:04
Smurphythat data can be used/stored to create links11:04
calcmandani don't think it connects to google. once you create the keys on the system, it generates a barcode that you scan with your phone to sync it.11:05
calcmandanthis way the keys provide a unique code every 30 seconds.11:05
calcmandananyway, i'm just testing to see if it works at the moment. i'll be wiresharking the box while i use it to see if there's any calls home.11:06
calcmandanyou're making me suspect there's more to the algorithm than meets the eye. i'll check to see who wrote the pam. hoping it's on github.11:07
calcmandannot algorithm. PAM11:09

kubHi all15:54
kubI've just downloaded ktechlab_0.3-6_i386.deb from sourceforge.net using Firefox 43.0.4 on Kubuntu 14.04 lts and am having trouble getting it installed.15:55
kubWhen I left click on its icon in Downloads a dialog box called "Package installer - ktechlab" pops up.15:55
kubNear the top of this dialog is a "Status" meesage in red which states "Error: Cannot satify dependencies".15:55
kubCan someone help point me in the direction of how to find out which dependencies are not bein satisfied ?15:55
kubHello, can anyone see this ?15:57
bdgrauekub: yes, can see it15:58
lordievaderkub: Is that package made for your version of Kubuntu?15:58
kubThank you for the reply.15:58
kubHmm, not sure. Would I have to compile Ktechlab from source for my version of Kubuntu ?15:59
lordievader!info ktechlab16:02
ubottuPackage ktechlab does not exist in wily16:02
lordievaderIs the package for Debian?16:02
kubI don't think that ktechlab is in any Ubuntu repo.16:03
kubIt is a .deb package that I downloaded16:03
lordievaderFrom where?16:03
BluesKajkub:  there's anewer vesion on github https://github.com/ktechlab/ktechlab16:03
kubSourceforge.net16:04
lordievaderkub: Could you give a link to it?16:04
BluesKajyou'll have to compile16:04
kubGithub says that official downloaqd site for this package is Sourceforge.16:04
kubThe package can be found at " http://sourceforge.net/projects/ktechlab/ "16:06
BluesKajhmm,16:06
BluesKajuBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ktechlab/16:06
kubWeird. I have a firefox tab on that page right now.16:07
BluesKajBecause of the following filter ||sourceforge.net^$document Found in: uBlock filters – Badware risks16:07
lordievaderHmpf, they don't state for what distro the package is made...16:07
lordievaderkub: What does 'sudo apt-get install -f' do?16:08
kubI was assuming that if it was a .deb package then it would run on an O.S. derived from Debian.16:08
kubI haven'tried sudo apt-get. Will try it now. Be back in a few mins.16:09
lordievaderIf the dependencies can be satisfied, yes.16:09
=== programreneur is now known as abdulhannanali
kubapt-get returns " E: Unable to locate package ktechlab "16:12
kubSo it can't be in repo.16:12
kubHence getting it from Sourceforge.16:13
BluesKajkub: check github above, you may need to compile it for your kubuntu version16:17
kubThanks, BluesKaj. I will do just that.16:21
kubThank you all. Bye.16:21
