bluesabreknome, ochosi: poke if either of you appear.... would you like to also drop albatross and bluebird from the shimmer-themes package at this time?00:06
flocculantbluesabre: mmm seems so - didn't get much further than installing it twice last night07:33
flocculantbluesabre: funnily vbox sees it with just a reboot, hardware I actually had to login/out/reboot to see something 07:51
Akxwi-daveflocculant, regarding the black screen at login on yesterday's iso..  I'm getting a normal background, BUT if i swap to guest account, then the screen goes black.. still happening if i login in as a user, and log back out..08:35
bluesabreflocculant, Akxwi-dave: So, based on that, I think there might be an issue with the greeter seeing the default wallpaper. It seems to have no issue with ones set by accounts service (where a user has logged in and accounts service has had a chance to save the config)11:14
flocculantbluesabre: sounds logical12:57
Akxwi-davebluesabre, flocculant : I agree... especially as just installed todays build and on initial boot before the first login to installed system, the background is black, after that initial login users background is shown. After relogin as guest it stays black (i am assuming as guest login doesn't save any configs etc)13:06
flocculantAkxwi-dave: k - just doing that here too13:07
Akxwi-dave:-)13:07
Akxwi-davehas it been logged as a bug yet?13:07
flocculantmust say I've not looked at images for a week or so, not sure when this happened13:08
flocculantI've not reported it yet - wanted to double check it was just us, then no idea what package to report against either - greeter I guess13:08
bluesabrelightdm-gtk-greeter13:15
bluesabre(please)13:15
Akxwi-daveI only noticed it yesterday..13:15
Akxwi-davewill do13:15
flocculantbluesabre: ok - just booting the installed vm now will report it from there13:15
flocculantapport fails against lightdm-gtk-greeter :(13:15
flocculantnmv - tab complete caught up at the wrong time ... 13:15
Akxwi-daveahh talking of apport, are you getting a blueman-apport crash?13:15
flocculantyea 13:15
flocculantAkxwi-dave: pretty sure it'll not just be us13:15
flocculantbluesabre Akxwi-dave bug 153320013:17
ubottubug 1533200 in lightdm-gtk-greeter (Ubuntu) "Black background at first login" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/153320013:17
flocculantbluesabre: I can leave that vm untouched now I reported it if you want anything else from it13:18
Akxwi-davecheers.. you beat me too it13:18
flocculantbbl13:25
GirishI downloaded the daily image of Xubuntu AMD64. When I'm trying to run it in Virtual Box I'm getting the error 'Booting Kernal failed. Invalid Argument'14:41
Akxwi-daveGirish, Do you have the virualization turned on in your bios?  if not it will only let you create 32bit VM's14:47
GirishAkxwi-dave: I've virtualised before this. So I guess yeah it's turned on.14:47
Akxwi-daveGirish, :-) well it cant be that problem then...14:49
GirishYeah.14:52
Akxwi-daveSorry can't help on that further at mo..I don't have access to a 64bit machine at this time... 14:52
flocculantGirish: run the vm in vbox - screenshot the error message - thanks17:21
ochosievening all19:04
duressGirish: if you do not mind me asking, did you checksum ? 19:28
Unit193bluesabre: So, see #xfce-dev?19:33
flocculantevening ochosi 20:06
ochosiUnit193: heya, you up for some packaging work?21:01
Unit193...This sounds like an awful trick question. >_>21:01
ochosi...Could be cause it is..? *_*21:01
ochosii'21:02
ochosill send you a link21:02
ochosithen you can decice21:02
ochosior decide even21:02
ochosihttps://github.com/shimmerproject/pidgin-elementary21:04
ochosisince you said you might be motivated to extract the elementary stuff from xubuntu-artwork, you might not want to have that there to begin with21:04
ochosiideally it21:05
ochosi'd be a new pkg imo21:05
ochosibut if we don't find the time, we can always push it in -artwork21:05
Unit193Heh, in some form or another I already did extract things into elementary-themes, or whatever it's called.21:06
ochosii see i see21:07
ochosiwell i presumed the hard part would be to get the new package accepted in ubuntu (or even debian), not the technical part of *actually* packaging it ;)21:07
Unit193Quite so.21:08
ochosiwould you be up for that?21:09
ochosithing is atm i can't really help much with the poking as i'm not that available during the day21:10
Unit193If it's meant for going in, can you tag a release (or are we testing first?)21:11
ochosiideally we'd be trying it21:12
ochosialso, the make stuff for the package would have to include svntopng, like xubuntu-artwork21:13
ochosinot even sure pidgin handles svg21:13
ochosii'd prefer with a package in staging21:15
ochosias soon as that works okay, i'd go for realz21:15
ochosii can generally tag a release anytime, i'd just probably add the 24px versions to prevent too much icon-scaling and fuzziness21:15
Unit193Welp, this sounds like "fun"...21:16
ochosi:>21:17
ochosiwell as i said, we can always stuff it in xubuntu-artwork21:17
Unit193Think it makes more sense to either move things now, or add that in.  Granted if you add it in that makes more for transitioning later, but it's an LTS so "break less" is generally to motto. :P21:27
ochosiyeah, i'd say that depends on your motivation21:29
Unit193Well this and the svg2png doesn't look fun. >:D21:29
Unit193ochosi: I poked bluesabre, but see #xfce-dev scrollback?21:29
ochosii guess the svg2png part is just copy-pasting21:30
ochosioh, i was totally unaware of that calculator...21:31
ochosior were you referring to the xfdashboard part?21:32
Unit193Yeah.21:33
ochosiright21:33
ochosiwell i don't have the feeling it's half as unmaintained as the rest of xfce >:D21:33
knomehuhu21:34
knomeochosi, you should hope ofourdan is not reading the logs for this channel21:34
knome:P21:34
ochosiright, that is precisely why i repeated it in #xfce-dev21:34
knome;)21:35
Unit193ochosi: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?maint=pkg-xfce-devel%40lists.alioth.debian.org that's a lot of freaking bugs.21:35
ochosiright, but there are even lightdm bugs, not sure why exactly21:40
Unit193pkg-xfce maintains it.21:41
ochosiright21:42
Unit193ochosi: Anywho, point being it's not making it into Debian any time soon, time to get it into Ubuntu?21:42
ochosisure21:46
ochosialright, two icons to go and then v0.1 would be ready21:52
ochosii guess some icons will need more tweaking, but that's for v0.221:52
ochosiUnit193: https://github.com/shimmerproject/pidgin-elementary/releases/tag/v0.122:02
ochosialso, bluesabre ˆ22:04
ochosibbabl22:14
bluesabreochosi: nice22:38
bluesabreevening all22:41
knomehello bluesabre 22:41
bluesabrehiya knome 22:42
knomehow's the wallpaper contest webapp coming up?22:42
bluesabreevery time I start on that, something comes up.  I just need to figure out launchpad/uo auth and I should be able to take submissions22:44
knome:)22:44
ochosiso just a quick update on that: pidgin does *not* support svg icon themes, so we definitely have to convert to png22:57
ochosii guess the best way is to do it in the packaging scripts22:57
ochosibluesabre: any comment from your side on getting this in xubuntu-artwork vs. creating a new separate package?22:58
Unit193xubuntu-icon-theme, libreoffice-style-elementary are elementary too.22:59
ochosianyway, i gotta leave you to yourselves with this, gotta get some sleep23:01
ochosinight y'all23:01
knomegood night ochosi 23:01
bluesabrenighty ochosi 23:02
bluesabreI don't have a strong opinion, other than lo-style-elementary will be part of the libreoffice source package at some point23:02
bluesabremaybe its time to rename some packages23:03
bluesabreso that there is elementary-xfce-icon-theme (or elementary-icon-theme-xfce), pidgin-elementary-theme, etc23:03
bluesabrepart of this would be making sure we don't step on elementary's packaging toes (if we're nice folks, which we are)23:04
bluesabrein the end, adding it to the xubuntu-artwork source package would be easiest and require the least red tape to cut through23:08
bluesabreUnit193: thoughts?23:12
bluesabregoing out for food now, bbabl23:12
Unit193I'm hungry.23:12
