[10:53] how did gnome-session be started? [10:54] what do you mean [10:55] I want to know how did mdm or gdm start a gnome-session ? [10:56] maybe x11 starts a gnome-session [10:56] how can i check that [10:56] im on standard ubuntu gnome 15.10 [10:58] what do you mean? [11:19] I think craysiii thinks sam_yan is asking for more information in order to help with craysiii's DPMS issue [11:19] but I think sam_yan is asking an unrelated question [11:19] ya tahts what i thought, and then realized that, so i stfu [11:20] all i want is for all the damn screens to turn off lol i can get either 2 off and 1 stays on (backlit) or 1 goes off and 2 stay on (backlit) [11:20] (yes i have 3 monitors) [11:25] AFAIU it's gnome-settings-daemon that tells the X server to put the monitors to sleep [11:25] so try to figure out if the bug is in g-s-d, or the X server, or the X video driver, or the kernel video driver [11:25] now, as to how -- very good question, I've no idea [11:30] hm [11:31] i feel like this is going to be a tough one to tackle [11:33] so, when i turn on idling and set to 1 minute, the two secondary monitors turn off, but when i run "gnome-screensaver-command --lock xset dpms force off" then the primary turns off and the secondary monitors stay on. nothing on the screens but backlight, and a mouse if i allow it to idle through settings [11:33] its either only the primary or the secondaries that are affected [11:53] gnome-screensaver-command? how come? [11:54] ubuntu-gnome doesn't use gnome-screensaver [15:37] any ideas why Caja won't appear in desktop search, although i can access it from an extension? === kipd_ is now known as kipd [18:58] Hello. Anyone has GNOME 3.19 on xenial? Somehow after an upgrade I was dealing with a D-Bus issue that returned back to the login screen everytime I tried to login. After another upgrade it boots directly into gnome-shell as user "GNOME DIsplay Manager". Any ideas on how to fix that? Thank you [19:45] mgedmin i was using some old posts to try to mess with it. I finally got it to work with sleep 1 && xset dpms force off, but it didnt lock the screen [22:25] eliasps, not seen that here [23:30] hey, whats the best way to boot to a terminal prompt vs gdm
