You have any idea how many querys you would need per day? Because for free the Google Custom Search is limited to 100/Day === vrruiz_ is now known as rvr [10:53] flocculant: https://code.launchpad.net/~flocculant/ubuntu-manual-tests/1532348/+merge/283037 === chihchun is now known as chihchun_afk [13:02] slickymasterWork: ta [13:03] MatthewAllen: could be less than 1 or could be loads - can't think we'd want to use google for it though [13:03] flocculant, only reason I was looking at Google was it was from what I could work out one that it got pretty solid results, with little time spent configuring [13:04] Can I ask what the issue with using Google is? [13:08] some people don't like google [13:09] imo this needs to be done with the tracker, not externally - if it's not possible then it should stay wishlist - it is after all 5 years old :) [13:10] the custom search can be implemented into the website pretty much directly, you're never redirected to an external page [13:11] Can't do anything about people not liking google, but I could get it to implement pretty much seemlessly with the website [13:12] wait for balloons - but I'd be -1 using google [13:13] will do, only reason I was looking for that is rolling a custom search feature is probally a hell of a lot more work, for results that are not much better [13:14] ack, as I said, if it's that much work then perhaps it should remain wishlist :) [13:57] Good morning all [13:57] Back in the real and connected world [14:37] MatthewAllen2, it makes the most sense to use the drupal search module, and not something custom or google [14:48] and yes, even if google let's you do it better, I would still prefer the built-in module [14:48] reduces dependencies and google site searches can get wonky -- the custom search will never break [14:56] flocculant, I see some MP's to review and merge :) [15:56] balloons, Do you know if theres an issue with literally just enabling the search and indexing the site? Because from what I've found there's not a huge amount to configure on the built-in Drupal Module [16:06] MatthewAllen2, I don't. I'm working on opening up the admin access. We should start there [16:07] Because on my local instance, the search isn't even indexing the QATracker [16:09] MatthewAllen2, I see the same now. Search is on atm [16:33] balloons, any luck? [16:34] MatthewAllen2, there's nothing I can see to do. The search is already on, and as you've noted, it doesn't cover the tracker stuff [16:34] balloons, ah ok [16:34] there may be another module to enhance it, but the out of the box module seems useless eh? [16:34] unless you see otherwise locally? [16:34] from what I can gather pretty much [16:35] I've had no success [16:37] if you have a look here you can test the results the google one gives - https://cse.google.com.au/cse/publicurl?cx=000226479473830903505:tbhohytxyfg [16:37] If we go with that, I'll do some more digging into filtering - as I know you can rank certain things eg. Test Cases higher than other random stuff [16:50] I guess I'm open to opinion. I don't want search really at all, hah. So I would be for keeping things simple [16:50] hence the preference for a module [16:51] the answer to the old bug then might end up as a won't fix -- but I'm not the only voice! [16:51] mmk, all good by me :) [16:52] I was mainly looking at it because you linked it in the GCI task for "Enhance the new user experience" [17:41] balloons: MP? my 2 or tracker ones? [17:55] flocculant, yes [17:56] would have just pushed my 2 but don't like doing that unless it's really necessary [18:07] right === essembe is now known as sbeattie [18:42] MatthewAllen2, I have something for you to create for via the API [18:43] MatthewAllen2, http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-testcase/ubuntu-manual-tests/trunk/view/head:/tools/qa_tracker_update.pl -- migrate that to use the API and to be in python :-) === damascene is now known as uaa === uaa is now known as damascene
