bluesabrenight all, will be more useful tomorrow03:28
flocculantbluesabre: remember the hdmi/tv off issue - I get no signal if I turn tv off/on - works if I forget about xfsettingsd 09:24
bluesabreflocculant: what do you mean by that last bit, "works if I forget about xfsettingsd"?13:10
flocculanthey bluesabre :)13:10
bluesabreheya13:10
flocculantif I stop it, disable it from session startup - reboot without xfsettingsd - I can turn the tv on and off as much as I like and don't lose signal 13:11
flocculantseems to be like bug 130810513:12
bluesabreah13:12
ubottubug 1308105 in xfce4-settings "Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled" [Critical,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/130810513:12
bluesabreyes, probably that13:12
flocculantbut if I do the script - and the udev rule it doesn't work13:12
flocculantand - from that bug it seemed to be pre 4.12 13:12
bluesabrebasically disabling xfsettingsd allows xrandr to be in charge13:12
flocculantso I was a bit *shrug( 13:12
bluesabreyeah13:12
bluesabreits a pain :(13:12
flocculantindeed13:13
flocculanttbh if I could fix it simply I will - but turning the pc off isn't so much of a hardship :D13:13
flocculantcertainly not worried enough to keep xfsettingsd killed and put up with the fallout from that ;)13:14
flocculantis it worth me adding up to date info to the bug(s) ?13:14
bluesabreflocculant: doesn't hurt to add another comment to the bug13:35
bluesabreochosi: are contributions on the bug bounties pretty popular? it might be worthwhile to throw a bunch of money at that bug to get somebody to come in and fix it fully13:36
bluesabre*code contributions13:37
flocculantbluesabre: ack - got it working with a one liner from the xfce bug - better than getting up :p14:11
bluesabreflocculant: which one?14:12
flocculantwhile true; do xrandr -d :0 --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080; sleep 3; done14:12
flocculantin the bug it sleeps for 10, but 3 works here :)14:13
flocculanthttps://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107#c4814:13
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 11107 in Xfsettingsd "xfsettingsd resets TV mode to NULL on power cycle" [Critical,Reopened]14:13
flocculantd'oh ... should have not been lazy and typed comment 48 :p14:14
bluesabre:)14:15
flocculantbluesabre: I was scratching my head in this clean install on the parole menu issue till I remembered ppa ... lol14:18
flocculantnot sure how I managed to forget ppa's :D14:18
bluesabrewhich issue?14:22
* bluesabre struggles at connecting the dots this morning14:22
flocculantthe full full screen one :)14:22
bluesabreaha14:23
* flocculant always struggles supplying enough dots for people to connect with :)14:23
bluesabreI really need to push a new parole release soon14:23
bluesabremaybe today14:23
bluesabrelooking to fix these three today in catfish14:24
bluesabrehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/catfish-search/+bug/150891814:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1508918 in catfish (Ubuntu) "Deleting from search results" [Medium,Confirmed]14:24
bluesabrehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/catfish-search/+bug/146107214:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1461072 in Catfish "Can not drag and drop multiple files" [Undecided,New]14:24
bluesabrehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/catfish-search/+bug/152316414:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1523164 in Catfish "Double quadruple clicking folder results behaviour" [Undecided,New]14:24
bluesabreall kinda related14:24
flocculantyea - I certainly know about one of them :)14:25
flocculantbbl 14:27
flocculantbluesabre: have fun and a good day :)14:27
bluesabreseeya flocculant 14:27
flocculantoh - ack a2 and 14.04 - I'll work 14.04 in 14:28
ochosibluesabre: so far i think ther is about zero awareness for xfce bug bounties14:30
ochosibecause we dont expose them anywhere in the tracker or website14:30
bluesabreochosi: allllrighty then14:30
bluesabre:D14:30
ochosiso yeah, not sure throwing money would help14:30
flocculantstill here - helping studio ... 14:33
flocculantafternoon ochosi :)14:33
flocculantany excuse to not open the tin of gloss paint is a winner 14:34
bluesabre:D14:37
ochosiafternoon everyone14:37
ochosibluesabre: any opinion on whether to go with xfpm 1.4 or 1.5/6 with xenial from your side14:38
ochosipersonally i think it's more realistic that we'll do fixes for 1.5/614:38
ochosi1.4 is pretty much done14:38
bluesabreochosi: I can see that, but I also see that progress slowed to a halt there at the same time14:38
ochosismall fixes like the ones that landed in git master recently can partly be backported and included as distro patches14:38
ochosiyeah actually the bugs we intended to fix were done and the gtk3 port was finished and feature wise on par14:39
ochosii guess that was one of the reasons for no more progress14:39
bluesabregotcha14:39
ochosisince we decided not to implement too many new features in the port14:39
ochosiit's not a 1:1 entirely, but almost14:40
ochosiwe should've just released 1.6 at some point14:40
bluesabresince the interface is done, maybe we can get some patches to make the devices tab look a bit better in numix14:40
ochosiit's really stable, i've been using it for ages14:40
ochosia-ha, what does it look like? (looks okay in greybird)14:40
bluesabrehttps://i.imgur.com/arRMU17.png14:41
bluesabreusing the moka theme, so thats why icons are a bit off14:41
ochosiouch14:42
ochosigreybird: http://i.imgur.com/SXpGjkf.png14:42
ochosiand maybe more importantly adwaita: http://i.imgur.com/x1mUWM6.png14:43
ochosimoka doesn't have the needed device icons14:44
bluesabreseems like if we just draw borders, things might improve all around14:44
ochosithat's partof the issue14:44
ochosipotentially, but we could also use different widgets14:44
ochosiit's possible to add the frame class to the notebook that holds the detailed info14:45
ochosihttp://i.imgur.com/mG2hXYG.png14:46
ochositheoretically could also add the sidebar class14:48
bluesabrethat seems to help14:48
ochosiit works but i'm not sure i like that version: http://i.imgur.com/Z9f8D3N.png14:48
ochosiwith adwaita it doesn't make a diff14:49
ochosiso i guess adding the frame class to the gtknotebook would be ok14:49
bluesabreyeah, no sidebar class :D14:50
bluesabrewell, that makes it a table in numix it seems14:51
bluesabrehttps://i.imgur.com/dL6ikT6.png14:51
bluesabreaha14:52
bluesabreochosi: put it in a GtkScrolledWindow14:53
bluesabrethere could potentially be lots of properties anyway14:53
ochosino you added the frame to the wrong widget14:53
ochosiyou have to add it to the gtknotebook14:53
ochosinot the treeview14:53
flocculantI knew that ... :p14:54
ochosiby default the inspector gives you the treeview14:54
bluesabreah14:54
ochosibut you have to go up one level in the hierarchy14:54
bluesabrecould be good to have the scrolled window anyway14:54
bluesabrebut testing14:54
bluesabreochosi: better14:55
ochosithought so14:56
bluesabredunno why the frame around the viewport on the left fails though14:56
ochositheme setting14:56
ochosiadwaita draws one14:56
bluesabrehttps://i.imgur.com/QyfPk51.png14:57
bluesabrefun14:57
bluesabretheme baseed on adwaita does not follow adwaitas properties :D14:57
ochosithis should do it: http://dpaste.com/0W48Y9P14:58
ochosiat least for the right side14:58
bluesabreyup, that's good for that patch14:59
ochosiif you want to work on the left side, i guess we have to be more inventive ;)14:59
* bluesabre might patch numix later15:00
ochosiyeah15:01
ochosisounds like a plan15:01
ochosialright, so i'll quickly test my patch and then push that15:01
bluesabresweet, thanks15:01
ochosino worries15:02
bluesabregoing to probably work on some patches for the indicator plugin soon... I want to make sure svg icons scale correctly (some currently just zoom in on a tiny part of the icon), a configurable max size like the notification plugin would be nice, and the ability to hide specific applications indicators15:03
ochosiyou can look in the history of the plugin15:03
ochosithat functionality used to be there15:03
bluesabreah15:03
bluesabrewhy was it dropped?15:03
ochosicause the indicator api was changed15:04
ochosias always ;)15:04
bluesabre:D15:04
ochosiit used to be scalable15:04
ochosithen it *always* supplied 22px icons15:04
ochosicause ya know, convenient for unity's panel15:05
bluesabreack15:05
ochosiso andrzejr_ (or someone else?) changed the plugin15:05
ochosiand now with hidpi support they had to make it flexible againn15:05
bluesabre:D15:05
ochosia cat and mouse game15:05
ochosinaturally we're the mouse (xfce)15:05
ochosiok, xfpm patch pushed15:06
bluesabre:D15:06
bluesabrethanks ochosi 15:06
ochosito be frank, we should use more modern widgets there15:07
ochosibut yeah, 1:1 port...15:07
bluesabreis it dual gtk2/gtk3, or gtk3-only at this point?15:08
ochosigtk3-only15:08
bluesabremight as well upgrade then15:08
ochosisure, but ya know, it's work!15:08
ochosiand we haven't even released a stable gtk3 version15:09
bluesabrewhat gtk3 version is xfce 4.12 targeting?15:09
bluesabre4.14*15:09
ochosiit used to be 3.6 :D15:09
ochosi(actually that was when 4.12 was planned as a port)15:09
ochosinow it's 3.16 iirc15:09
bluesabreoh good15:09
ochosino15:10
ochosi3.1415:10
bluesabre3.16/3.18 are similar enough to be theme compatible15:10
bluesabreawww15:10
ochosiyeah, even 3.14 to 3.16 was fairly ok15:10
ochosi3.20 will be *bad*15:10
ochosi(or good, depending on how you look at it15:10
ochosi)15:10
bluesabrebaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad15:10
bluesabrefor existing themes15:10
bluesabregood time for a port though, since EVERYTHING changes15:11
ochosiyeah15:11
ochosinot sure what that means for xfce15:11
bluesabre4.12 gets some LTS patches and 4.14 targets 3.20+15:12
ochosianyhow, we still have so much porting to do that we'll likely bump the gtk3 target again15:12
bluesabreyup15:12
ochosibluesabre: so what's up today? any plans?15:21
bluesabreochosi: working on catfish bugs, and possibly parole bugs and a new release15:22
ochosicool15:22
bluesabreochosi: what do you have going on today?15:24
ochosii'm handing out commit rights to a numix contributor (hope)15:24
bluesabrenice15:28
ochosiother than that my daughter might wake up any minute ;)15:30
ochosimaybe test that greybird pull request15:46
bluesabre:)16:03
ochosiactually that pull request looks ok16:04
ochosi(not that i care too much about java apps...)16:04
bluesabre:D16:10
flocculantbluesabre: ooh ooh - I like to see "This should now be resolved with the following commit." :)17:47
bluesabreflocculant: :D17:50
bluesabretook a while to figure out just what was broken there17:50
flocculantbut in awesome bluesabre fashion you came through :)17:51
bluesabre:)17:51
flocculantI do actually read changelogs when I see things *we* might want to know about - so I will be watching for it :p17:51
bluesabreflocculant: if I can fix one or two more bugs today, I'll get a new release out today or early this week17:52
flocculantokey doke 17:52
flocculantbluesabre: re *your* ppa's - currently the qa contr doc stuff shows the 3 we had before - should I push a change when they land - ie once you've set them up they're not going to keep changing? 17:54
bluesabreflocculant: I'll probably just have that new format for catfish, menulibre, and mugshot... everything else we can have in the xubuntu ppas (and can make sure we have dailies for those in xubuntu daily ppa as well)17:56
flocculantok - that makes sense, just wanted to be sure what you were going to do17:56
flocculantso - 6 ppa's in total 17:56
flocculantsome I guess will end up with little going on 17:57
bluesabreyeah17:57
flocculantI'd rather have too much information tbh - try and get past the 'what about this then?' as much as possible17:58
bluesabremugshot: pretty basic, just changing to keep up with gtk/glib/cheese apis; menulibre: probably restructuring the backend (at some point) to be completely xdg compliant... and then fixing xfce's menu to actually be compliant; catfish: not much else to go before a stable release and then just bug fixes17:58
bluesabreparole: stable, bug fixes17:59
bluesabrexfce: porting to gtk3... at some point17:59
flocculant:p17:59
flocculantbluesabre: while I'm looking 17:59
bluesabrexfpanel-switch: supporting more plugins17:59
flocculantnvm 18:00
bluesabreflocculant: hmm?18:00
* bluesabre prods flocculant18:00
flocculantI Was going to ask something - then looked at versions again :D18:01
flocculantxfpm in daily/staging18:01
bluesabregotcha18:01
bluesabrethat should be working again18:01
bluesabrebreakage left and breakage right18:01
bluesabre:D18:01
flocculantstaging is newer - but daily appears to have been changed today with an older version - confusing me :p18:02
bluesabrehttps://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/ppa should be whats in git18:02
bluesabreoh, I see the confusing18:03
bluesabre*confusion18:03
bluesabreneed to bump the version number in that ppa18:03
bluesabrewill try to take care of that today18:03
flocculantbluesabre: re the tv signal thing - I bought one of these http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/novatechpockithdnpi17.html , took 20 minutes after it turning up at the door to have it working :)18:04
flocculantincluding sorting out nfs18:04
flocculantfixed to the wall currently :)18:04
bluesabrenice18:04
bluesabrethat one-liner would be good for that then18:05
flocculantyea 18:06
flocculantseems to work fine 18:06
Unit193andrzejr_: BTW, did you see Debian 808942 and Debian 811098?20:07
ubottuDebian bug 808942 in xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin "xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin: Does not respect GTK theme colors/icon set" [Minor,Open] http://bugs.debian.org/80894220:08
ubottuDebian bug 811098 in xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin "xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin: hogs some CPU if certain xfce4 styles are used" [Normal,Open] http://bugs.debian.org/81109820:08
knomebluesabre, ochosi: something for you to think about on the mailing list20:08
andrzejr_Unit193, 808942 is probably just the gtk2 vs gtk3 theming issue. Xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin uses gtk3 so it needs a theme that supports both gtk2 and 3.20:19
andrzejr_not a bug but not optimal. I assumed Xfce will move to gtk3 soonish and looks like that was wrong.20:20
Unit193Hah, well you know Xfce!  And yeah, xfce-look or some default themes don't do well with that type of crap.20:21
andrzejr_not sure about 811098, haven't seen that before. It could be that the gtk3 style in use itself is buggy or it uncovers an issue in the plugin.20:23
