dholbachmhall119, davidcalle: can we chat about the deployment as you two are around?09:24
davidcalledholbach: I'll be away in 5 minutes (for 1~2 h), but anytime when I'm back09:25
dholbachno worries - let's wait for Mike and figure something out together09:26
davidcalledholbach: how are things? :)09:27
dholbachstill down with the ubuflu and a skewed sleeping schedule09:28
dholbachhow about you?09:28
davidcalledholbach: no jetlag, no flu, but everyone else at home is sick :p09:29
dholbachso you're the nurse on the infirmary?09:29
davidcalledholbach: that's pretty much it, yeah :)09:30
dholbach:-)09:31
dholbachbug hugs!09:31
dholbacherr09:31
dholbachbig hugs!09:31
davidcalle:D09:33
davidcalleBug hugs, the worst kind of hugs09:33
dholbachdavidcalle: do you know what's needed to get the deployment to staging done? do we have an up-to-date db dump we can work with?12:05
davidcalledholbach: we have a recent one (december), already loaded in the staging db =)12:08
dholbachah, great12:09
davidcalledholbach, and I'll will run an upgrade this afternoon :)12:09
dholbachexcellent!12:09
* dholbach hugs davidcalle12:09
davidcalledholbach: especially to document any migration we need to do12:09
dholbachso we will have an idea of how well the upgrade/migration would work on the real site later today? :)12:09
dholbachyes12:09
davidcalledholbach: I'll start on it just after lunch, you should be able to watch the world burning live on developer.staging.ubuntu.com around 3pm :P12:11
* dholbach makes sure there's enough space on the couch and popcorn and drinks are ready12:11
dholbachdavidcalle: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/snappy/build-apps/debug/ :)12:15
davidcalledholbach: woah12:17
dholbachyeah, the big blocks are starting to land now - this is even on 16.04 standards now12:17
* davidcalle -> lunch12:22
dholbachdavidcalle: I hope https://github.com/facelessuser/pymdown-extensions/pull/12 gets landed soon - that'll beautify our docs a bit12:42
davidcalledholbach: on a related topic: http://feed43.com/8585111350810770.xml13:03
davidcalledholbach: oh, nice :)13:04
dholbachoooooh, nice one :)13:39
davidcalledholbach, mhall119 : starting on staging... (after a small snafu)13:59
dholbach*crossing fingers*13:59
davidcalleI actually need to do 2 deploys: an initial deployment of what we have in prod, then an upgrade. (snafu is that I messed up what was already there)14:02
dholbachok14:02
dholbachall the best with that14:02
dholbachlet me know if I can help in any way14:02
davidcalledholbach: you can light a candle...14:09
dholbachwill do14:10
davidcallemhall119: I'm having an issue when deploying what we have in prod on staging , when setting up the frontend ip:  raise(RuntimeError, "Desired IP {} not in floating ips list!".format(myip))15:05
davidcallemhall119: any idea?15:06
dholbachah... was that was the IS guy mentioned in his mail recently?15:07
dholbachsome IPs which were reassigned or some such15:07
dholbachnot sure what I'd do with the information, but maybe it was something related?15:07
* davidcalle looks for email15:08
dholbachmaybe mhall119 knows more about this15:10
davidcalleI'm trying to figure it out15:22
dholbachmhall119: around?15:39
mhall119dholbach: yes15:42
dholbachcool... do you have an idea about the floating IPs issue davidcalle was having earlier?15:43
mhall119davidcalle: when you say you were deploying what we have in prod, what do you mean?15:43
mhall119IIRC, the code was already the same version between staging and prod15:43
mhall119the floating IPs should depend on the environment variables telling mojo that you're deploying to staging15:46
mhall119we've never run into that particular error before15:46
davidcallemhall119: I know, but I tried to pull from the "production" branch, instead of the "staging" one. I hadn't noticed where our latest trunk actually was. I ended up with bzr complainging about these being different branches when deploying. I'm now rebuilding what was there.15:47
davidcallemhall119: dholbach , asking for help in #webops15:59
dholbachdavidcalle:  looks like pymdown-extensions upstream is unwilling to include it, so we can mix and match extensions we'd like to see - I'll propose something to lp:developer-ubuntu-com in a bit, but I guess we can also land that in separate deployment16:13
dholbachdavidcalle: coming to think of it, you should have had more boxes of chocolate for your birthday considering the pain you have to go through in terms of deployments :-(((16:43
davidcalledholbach: hehe, it's fine, actually a lot of waiting. The first deployment seems to work fine now, I'm waiting for it to finish (even if the staging site is now back online, it's still running). I'll try the upgrade tonight or tomorrow morning. I need to run as soon as this one exits.16:45
dholbachthanks a lot davidcalle for your great work on this16:46
dholbachlet's catch up tomorrow then16:46
davidcalledholbach: well, the "great work" part is for you in this case, can't wait to have the importer online :)16:46
davidcalledholbach: wfm16:46
dholbachI can't wait to have it fully working16:47
davidcalle:)16:48
dholbachdavidcalle: it'd be good if we could still land https://code.launchpad.net/~dholbach/developer-ubuntu-com/drop-use-of-nl2br-markdown-extension/+merge/28430917:36
dholbachthe name of the MP is a bit misleading17:36
dholbachit contains 1) dropping the nl2br extension and 2) a fix for the cleanup of leftover imported articles17:37
