[09:24] mhall119, davidcalle: can we chat about the deployment as you two are around? [09:25] dholbach: I'll be away in 5 minutes (for 1~2 h), but anytime when I'm back [09:26] no worries - let's wait for Mike and figure something out together [09:27] dholbach: how are things? :) [09:28] still down with the ubuflu and a skewed sleeping schedule [09:28] how about you? [09:29] dholbach: no jetlag, no flu, but everyone else at home is sick :p [09:29] so you're the nurse on the infirmary? [09:30] dholbach: that's pretty much it, yeah :) [09:31] :-) [09:31] bug hugs! [09:31] err [09:31] big hugs! [09:33] :D [09:33] Bug hugs, the worst kind of hugs [12:05] davidcalle: do you know what's needed to get the deployment to staging done? do we have an up-to-date db dump we can work with? [12:08] dholbach: we have a recent one (december), already loaded in the staging db =) [12:09] ah, great [12:09] dholbach, and I'll will run an upgrade this afternoon :) [12:09] excellent! [12:09] * dholbach hugs davidcalle [12:09] dholbach: especially to document any migration we need to do [12:09] so we will have an idea of how well the upgrade/migration would work on the real site later today? :) [12:09] yes [12:11] dholbach: I'll start on it just after lunch, you should be able to watch the world burning live on developer.staging.ubuntu.com around 3pm :P [12:11] * dholbach makes sure there's enough space on the couch and popcorn and drinks are ready [12:15] davidcalle: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/snappy/build-apps/debug/ :) [12:17] dholbach: woah [12:17] yeah, the big blocks are starting to land now - this is even on 16.04 standards now [12:22] * davidcalle -> lunch [12:42] davidcalle: I hope https://github.com/facelessuser/pymdown-extensions/pull/12 gets landed soon - that'll beautify our docs a bit [13:03] dholbach: on a related topic: http://feed43.com/8585111350810770.xml [13:04] dholbach: oh, nice :) [13:39] oooooh, nice one :) [13:59] dholbach, mhall119 : starting on staging... (after a small snafu) [13:59] *crossing fingers* [14:02] I actually need to do 2 deploys: an initial deployment of what we have in prod, then an upgrade. (snafu is that I messed up what was already there) [14:02] ok [14:02] all the best with that [14:02] let me know if I can help in any way [14:09] dholbach: you can light a candle... [14:10] will do [15:05] mhall119: I'm having an issue when deploying what we have in prod on staging , when setting up the frontend ip: raise(RuntimeError, "Desired IP {} not in floating ips list!".format(myip)) [15:06] mhall119: any idea? [15:07] ah... was that was the IS guy mentioned in his mail recently? [15:07] some IPs which were reassigned or some such [15:07] not sure what I'd do with the information, but maybe it was something related? [15:08] * davidcalle looks for email [15:10] maybe mhall119 knows more about this [15:22] I'm trying to figure it out [15:39] mhall119: around? [15:42] dholbach: yes [15:43] cool... do you have an idea about the floating IPs issue davidcalle was having earlier? [15:43] davidcalle: when you say you were deploying what we have in prod, what do you mean? [15:43] IIRC, the code was already the same version between staging and prod [15:46] the floating IPs should depend on the environment variables telling mojo that you're deploying to staging [15:46] we've never run into that particular error before [15:47] mhall119: I know, but I tried to pull from the "production" branch, instead of the "staging" one. I hadn't noticed where our latest trunk actually was. I ended up with bzr complainging about these being different branches when deploying. I'm now rebuilding what was there. [15:59] mhall119: dholbach , asking for help in #webops [16:13] davidcalle: looks like pymdown-extensions upstream is unwilling to include it, so we can mix and match extensions we'd like to see - I'll propose something to lp:developer-ubuntu-com in a bit, but I guess we can also land that in separate deployment [16:43] davidcalle: coming to think of it, you should have had more boxes of chocolate for your birthday considering the pain you have to go through in terms of deployments :-((( [16:45] dholbach: hehe, it's fine, actually a lot of waiting. The first deployment seems to work fine now, I'm waiting for it to finish (even if the staging site is now back online, it's still running). I'll try the upgrade tonight or tomorrow morning. I need to run as soon as this one exits. [16:46] thanks a lot davidcalle for your great work on this [16:46] let's catch up tomorrow then [16:46] dholbach: well, the "great work" part is for you in this case, can't wait to have the importer online :) [16:46] dholbach: wfm [16:47] I can't wait to have it fully working [16:48] :) [17:36] davidcalle: it'd be good if we could still land https://code.launchpad.net/~dholbach/developer-ubuntu-com/drop-use-of-nl2br-markdown-extension/+merge/284309 [17:36] the name of the MP is a bit misleading [17:37] it contains 1) dropping the nl2br extension and 2) a fix for the cleanup of leftover imported articles
