jaywinkhey all. any way to stop the screen from locking temporarily, from the console etc? need to fill 32gb of music and impossible since it keeps locking. also, the sd card is impossible to remove on the bq, for my clunky hands at least ::(08:07
jaywink... never mind, seems the sd card pops out if you press it in firmly :D08:09

popeyzzarr, you'd have to ask bq/meizu.10:29
zzarrokey10:30
zzarrpopey, just send the question to there support?10:31
popeyDuno10:31
popeythey're under no obligation to tell you of course10:31
popeyit's possibly commercially sensitive info10:32
popeyso what I'm really doing is palming you off on them because we don't have the data, and I kinda know they won't tell you :)10:32
zzarrpopey, I guess you're right10:32
zzarrpopey, they don't know my reason why and even if I explain that it's just something I wish to know personally they may not believe me10:34
popeyhaving a reason isn't sufficient for revealing commercially sensitive info usually10:35
popeyto randoms on the internet10:35
popeyyou'd get the same answer if you asked how many dell laptops were sold with ubuntu or how many lenovos etc10:35
zzarrpopey, nope you're completely right10:36
zzarrpopey, yea10:36
zzarrpopey, but do Canonical have any public figures?10:37
popeyof what?10:37
zzarrpopey, number of Ubuntu powered phones10:37
popeyThis is where we came in10:37
popey<popey> zzarr, you'd have to ask bq/meizu.10:37
popeynot our data.10:37
Stskeepsif things are done in the right privacy-aware way canonical won't even know10:38
Stskeepsie nothing phoning backe tc10:38
Stskeepswhich is good10:38
zzarrpopey, I know you wrote that, but I thought you meant exact data from bq/meizu10:38
popeyThere's data you can infer10:38
popeyfrom10:38
popeyI personally have no data.10:39
popeyhello Stskeeps10:39

Stskeepsa wig can do a lot10:40
Stskeeps:P10:40
popeyHair I have.10:40
Stskeepshehe10:40
popeyzzarr, the only data I know of is number of core app downloads / users10:40
popeywhich isn't super useful.10:40
zzarrpopey, it's something10:41
zzarrpopey, in any way, will you be able to know in the future? (I mean when Ubuntu powered phones goes on sale to the general public)10:42
popeyi expect sales data would be available only above my pay grade10:42
zzarrpopey, tell your boss you need a higher income ;)10:43
zzarrjust kidding10:43
popeyhaha10:44
popeyThing is right now, sales figures aren't important or interesting to us10:44
popeyIt's not a thing we're particularly bothered about.10:44
popeyI mean, we like that bq like Ubuntu so much that they're making more devices.10:44
zzarrit's more based on the fact that it a platform have enough users app makers (big ones) will make/port apps10:45
popeyAnd our relationship with partners is really good that there's more devices on the horizon10:45
popeyThat'll come later10:45
popeyright now, it's a developer phone.10:45
popeySure there's people who use it as a daily driver10:45
popeybut we're currently not chasing sales.10:45

robin-herolotuspsychje, do you use rc-proposed on Bq?12:29
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: no, the official image from bq 4.5 ubuntu touch12:29
robin-heroyes, OTA.9 is working well on my Bq too, but on Nexus4 I'm using the rc-proposed channel12:30
lotuspsychjethink im on devel-proposed on n712:31
andyworki am running "phablet-config writable-image" to enable read/write on my nexus 4. This returns "PING launchpad.net (91.189.89.223) 56(84) bytes of data.", whats going on here? The phone is not rebooting12:31
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: maybe we should file a bug12:36

lotuspsychjerobin-hero: yeah but to see wich channel12:41
robin-herolotuspsychje, in terminal: system-image-cli --info12:45
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: ok im also on rc-proposed tnx12:46
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: but someone told me rc-proposed isnt the best channel for n712:47
robin-herodon't know, I don't have an N712:47
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: well i guess that would count for n4 also12:48
robin-heroI have been using rc-proposed on my Nexus4 for several month, without serious issues12:48
lotuspsychjerobin-hero: yeah me neither, but still they advised me stable channel if i can recall12:49
lotuspsychjeive tested alot already, devel, devel-proposed, rc-proposed...12:49
robin-heroI've edited my /etc/enviroment on my N4, and added "QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO=2" to it, then restarted my phone. But nothing happened. Any idea?12:51
ogra_why would that have any effect ?12:51
robin-heroas I know, yes, it enables the device pixel ratio (hidpi screens) support12:52
ogra_no, it forces it to 212:52
robin-herosee: https://trello.com/c/kqxJmlt5/2631-776-ubuntu-landing-008-qtmir-qtubuntu-saviq-gerboland12:52
ogra_well, /etc/environment is definitely the wrong place for such stuff12:53
ogra_you more likely want a snippet in /etc/profile.d or some such12:54
ogra_Saviq, ^^^ please dont add any more stuff to /etc/enviroment, anything except PATH needs to go from there12:55
ogra_(assuming you will want that var set once this lands)12:55
tathhurobin-hero, lotuspsychje https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluetooth-touch/+bug/1502524 maybe related? :รถ12:55
ubot5Launchpad bug 1502524 in bluetooth-touch (Ubuntu) "Bluetooth - Ubuntu Touch" [Undecided,Confirmed]12:55
lotuspsychjetathhu: think robin-hero's bug find is more up to date12:57
popeyandywork, not sure why, but phablet-config thinks you want to configure the wifi network when you make the image writable12:58
popeyandywork, it just pings launchpad to confirm the network is up12:58
robin-heroogra_, OK, so can I somehow change the resolution of my external screen on N!?12:58
robin-heroN412:58
ogra_robin-hero, no idea, i never used that code ... but hacking that file is the wrong way to set a var12:59
ogra_(it isd ok temporary for testing, but it should go into /etc/profile.d for an actual landing)12:59
ogra_(or be exported by an upstart job or whatever)13:00
=== alan_g is now known as alan_g|lunch
greyback_robin-hero: do you mean resolution (slimport is fixed to only output 1080p) or scaling of the UI on the external screen?13:04
andyworkpopey: hmm, only for testing i disabled the wifi on the phone and issued the same command again. Now phablet-config is not returning anything until the screen falls asleep, then i get "error: closed" in my terminal13:04
robin-herogreyback_, yeah, scaling, sorry13:05
greyback_ogra_: adding that env var to /etc/env only for testing, definitely not or deployment13:05
ogra_greyback_, awesome, thanks :)13:05
greyback_robin-hero: ok. Story there is that device pixel ratio and grid unit are similar concepts that we need to work together. I'm in the process of making grid units dynamic, i.e. can change them at runtime per-display.13:06
davmor2andywork: yes that is because it couldn't ping launchpad to close the app13:06
popeyright13:06
popeybut there's no real reason it should connect to the network when you make the device writable13:06
popeybug in phablet-config13:06
greyback_robin-hero: so all I can say is watch this space. And in mean time, all you can do to make external screen not look huge, is to set GRID_UNIT_PX to a smaller value - but then phone UI will look tiny13:06
popeyit assumes you're going to install packages after making it writable13:07
popeyso checks for network so apt works13:07
robin-herogreyback_, thanks for the cclarifications, will this be ready for OTA-10? can I make this GRID_UNIT_PX somehow dynamic? so It changes if I connect to an external screen, then it changes back if I disconnect from it.13:09
davmor2lotuspsychje and robin-hero: image 352 for mako and 351 for flo have wroking wifi on flo the hardware doesn't actually register if it is up or not that is a different bug but you can connect devices via bluetoothctl as a work around on flo once connected they work fine13:10
lotuspsychjedavmor2: other channels got working bluetooth?13:11
greyback_robin-hero: OTA10 would be the goal yes. only by hacking lots of code will you make grid unit dynamic right now13:11
robin-herogreyback_, Thanks13:12
davmor2lotuspsychje: no other device do not other channels libhybris landed across the board. Hopefully there will be a fix in Tuesdays image if the dev can fix it Monday13:12

DanChapmanyeah support for yahoo is not so great i'm afraid. The server has a very limited IMAP implementation. I think when we have support for offline searching we could probably prefer that over a server side search for yahoo accounts22:22
