Version 4.4.0.2.1 (xenial), package size 2 kB, installed size 11 kB [07:59] its out [08:47] Good morning. [09:46] good evening [09:47] o/ [09:49] :) [11:17] confirmed xenial install fresh by usb stick and after update to kernel 4.4 succeeded [11:41] Hello. having issue with skype. selfcall I can here my own voice very very quiet and there is a crackle with it. Recording with audacity sound is perfect loud and total clear === lotuspsychje_ is now known as lotus|xenial4-4 [12:40] Hello. having issue with skype. selfcall I can hear my own voice very very quiet and there is a crackle with it. Recording with audacity sound is perfect loud and total clear [12:40] dreamon: skype from repos or website? [12:40] lotus|xenial4-4, from website [12:41] Version 4.3.0.37 [12:41] dreamon: try the one from partner repos perhaps, see if you got same issue [12:46] lotus|xenial4-4, But I think its a ubuntu/software issue .. cause if I end skype and take a look in pavucontrol I can see microfone soundlevel jumping. a few %. [12:46] but audacity makes a perfect sound.. very strange. [12:50] On a other PC its same but not so much.. and only pump up it I make some noises. Maybe a sounddriver issue [12:51] dreamon: yes but the problem is i think if you make a bug, would be better if using the skype from repos [12:51] no problem I will do so. [12:52] dreamon: maybe also try a pulseaudio restart [12:52] !sound | dreamon [12:52] dreamon: If you're having problems with sound, click the Volume applet, then Sound Preferences, and check your Volume, Hardware, Input, and Output settings. If that fails, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sound - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting - http://alsa.opensrc.org/DmixPlugin - For playing audio files, see !players and !mp3. [12:54] maybe the new laptop hardware is issue. Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.[AMD] FCH Azalia Controller [12:57] dreamon: yeah could be mate, try to check your dmesg and syslog [12:57] dreamon: or tail -f /var/log/syslog in realtime [13:14] lotuspsychje, the bad noises starts at that moment I push up Internal Mic Boost in Alsamixer. But microphone is so little loud, I have to boost it. [13:15] dreamon: tail -f /var/log/syslog while you play around with sound [13:15] it might give you usefull errors perhaps [13:16] no audio messages. only WLAN stuff [14:22] lotuspsychje, still here? I found a solution. [14:40] dreamon: oh yes, what did the trick? [14:43] I found out that the booster creates that crackle. so did booster to zero. zero.. but sound was very quiet. [14:44] !yay | dreamon [14:44] dreamon: Glad you made it! :-) [14:44] I pressed accidently q and only the left channel got a little higher of booster. and sound was great [14:44] If I do boath sides of mic up.. sound is gone again.. really strange === popey_ is now known as popey [16:18] kernelpanic: xenial not ready for production right [16:18] kernelpanic: things can still break in this stage [16:19] I understand. But if I install alpha2, it'll get apt-get upgraded to become stable over time, correct? [16:19] kernelpanic: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily/current/ [16:20] kernelpanic: its more recommended when official release to install fresh [16:20] kernelpanic: why take the risk of breakage or security risks on a server [16:21] kernelpanic: this stage is only for testing so [16:22] Got it! I'll play with it and see how much time I have for reinstalling in April *g* [16:22] kernelpanic: you can install, look around, test, help bugging out but not really to use as daily driver Os yet [16:22] Thanks lotuspsychje! [16:23] kernelpanic: the more usual way is server 14.04 and upgrade to 16.04 in april [16:26] kernelpanic: if you install alpha2 you can apt-get dist-upgrade continuously until release, and you will have an up-to-date 16.04 [16:29] hggdh: but thats doenst mean nothing can go wrong... [16:34] lotuspsychje: which is true for any strategy of getting 16.04 on a server once its released :) [16:35] kernelpanic: not very advisable for production [16:36] kernelpanic: maybe even wait on 14.04 a month and then upgrade to xenial [16:46] kernelpanic: the best approach is to install it on a test server and *test*. Then you will gain experience on the new packages/options [16:46] but, right now, do not run it on prod machines === peterrus- is now known as peterrus === Logan_ is now known as Logan [19:39] hi there. i'm wondering about snappy package support. do i have to install ubuntu core 16.04 to get that? [19:39] and is that a bad idea / too early ? [20:14] yes --> https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=689942 message #24 [20:14] Debian bug 689942 in initramfs-tools "initramfs-tools: mkinitramfs reports a problem about /dev/disk/by-uuid" [Important,Fixed] [20:15] Interesting [20:15] but the message does not say, you must run update-grub after that :) [20:15] otherwise it doesnt work [20:16] I think I recommended that the last time we were discussing this [20:16] ( running update-grub) [20:16] hm? dont remember... [20:16] but maybe.. . [20:18] vivid - you`re outdated LOL === Toledo|gone is now known as croberts === bittin-_ is now known as bittin [23:54] nobody can answer? about ubuntu core 16.04 query?
