gmwill02bekks: Ok so I have a file with 3 columns, the first column contains the customer_id, pure integers, so what I wanna do is replace the whole column (customer_id) with integers, starting from 1 to n (auto increment)00:17
ilyekkakaisquinty, Thanks - that worked. I git cloned the pygtk_chart and installed it. Now the python script runs without error ;)00:17
bekksgmwill02: Thats how you try to solve an issue - whats the actual issue?00:17
squintyilyekkakai,  very cool and good to hear  :)00:17
lritterfyi00:18
gmwill02bekks: the issue is, well I can only retrieve 1 column (customer_id) and can't replace it. I'm using cat and cut by delimiter.00:18
lrittercame in here yesterday with a completely messed up installation stuck between 14.04 and 15.0400:18
bekksgmwill02: retrieving from what? What are you actually tring to do?00:19

Villageaxk4545, you still here?00:19
gmwill02bekks: retrieving from a file.00:19
VillageLoshki, you here?00:23
lritterbekks, well it wouldn't do a release upgrade from 14.04 to 15.04 because of held back packages, so i tried a manual edit of sources.list + dist-upgrade00:24
lritterbekks, and then things took a turn for the worse (of course)00:24
lritterbekks, so eventually i pinned the packages to trusty & trusty-updates with a wildcard and did a downgrade00:24
bekkslritter: Of course. Because upgrading from 14.04 to 15.04 isnt supported at all. You first have to upgrade to 14.10 before upgrading to 15.0400:24
lrittertook numerous calls to install -f, autoremove, dist-upgrade etc.00:24
bekkslritter: So actually you reverted back to a somehow sane 14.04 install.00:25
lritterbekks, which is a problem because 14.10 has reached end of life and the upgrade tool wants to skip and go directly from trusty to vivid00:25

lritterbekks, yeah. after it was somewhat 14.04 vanilla (which was quite a fight because that involved moving systemd back to upstart)00:26
bekkslritter: I'd have reinstalled that thing :P00:27
lritterbekks, it would only boot into recovery mode, and i had to launch lightdm manually, and for a while there wasn't even any network00:27
VillageLoshki, same, but maybe you can reed it and then knows whats wrong - http://pastebin.com/XXFFXJnh ..? This is from man bash00:27

lritterbekks, so anyway, after 14.04 was sort of clean again (at least apt-wise), i tried the upgrade to 15.04 with do-release-upgrade00:31
LoshkiVillage: "unset" is a special bash command -- not the same as 'not setting a value'. If none of the above variables are set, or unset, you should have history being saved in ~/.bash_history by default. Does that file exist and have commands in it?00:31

tMHplease tell me, how to fix 'w' to resolve hostnames?06:01

DaveWMI have an optimus laptop,  intel IGP and nvidia graphics...  I've already tried using nvidia prime and bumblebee,  but I was getting screen tearing when watching netflix in chrome.. even when supposedly the intel device was being used...  atm I've got everything working with  just intel and have not installed anything for nvidia... I'm curious how I might go about ensuring the nvidia card is off and not consuming power or generating heat06:44

DaveWMubuntu 15.1006:48
lotuspsychjeoobartez: ask in #snappy perhaps06:48
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: wich driver version?06:48
DaveWMlotuspsychje, I'm game for trying to get things working with prime,  but I currently have good video with just using the intel.. I haven't installed any nvidia drivers this time around because every time I messed with those I had the issues with screen tearing06:49
oobartezlotuspsychje: tried #snappy first but no answers yet06:49
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: you might wanna try some different driver mate, from additional drivers section06:49
Triffid_HunterDaveWM: if you don't have nvidia driver telling the chip to start, it should remain in a low power idle06:49
DaveWMso I really want to just disable the nvidia graphics on this particular installl,  I may create a duplicate and mess with getting everything working with the nvidia graphics included06:49
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: you need right nvidia driver + nvidia-prime first before disabling performance mode06:50
DaveWMlotuspsychje, I've tried quite a few over the past week messing with nvidia-prime and with bumblebee06:50
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: try a lower nvidia driver and reboot06:50
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: like nvidia340 or 346 perhaps06:51
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: when you get the right driver, disable performance mode from nvidia-settings to use your intel card06:51
lotuspsychjeor enable...is how you need it06:51
DaveWMlotuspsychje, seems I also have read online that prime keeps the nvidia card powered even when not in use,  which is another reason I kind of like the thought of just disabling it's use completely06:52
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: nvidia-prime is there to switch this....06:52
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: whats the point of not using your nvidia card, when its inside your pc?06:53
DaveWMlotuspsychje, I understand what it's for,  what i'm trying to say is that I've already had it configured with different driver versions and still had the same screen tearing problem when watching netflix,  which I do a lot of06:53
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: then you didnt found the right driver yet06:53
DaveWMI do plan on doing what you're saying and getting it working,  but on a different install of ubuntu... I just want one that works that I don't have to mess with right now06:54
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: optimus cards need nvidia-prime installed, and fiddling to the right driver06:54
Triffid_HunterDaveWM: screen tearing should be easy to fix, force vsync in nvidia settings for whatever app you're using06:54
lotuspsychjeDaveWM: go check your additional drivers, wich version your on right now06:54
hsiahelo06:54
Triffid_HunterDaveWM: it's disabled by default because gamers like to see their games running at 3 million FPS even though the screen is only refreshed at 60Hz...06:55
DaveWMthe odd thing is that it was having screen tearing even using intel graphics every time I setup anything with nvidia06:55
DaveWMmaybe something to do with xorg settings.. but I just can't be sure.. all I know is I got smooth video right now06:55
DaveWMI'm only interested in making sure nvidia graphics is not using any power or making heat on this particular instance of ubuntu06:55
Triffid_HunterDaveWM: it won't. the nvidia chip will remain in a micropower idle until told to do otherwise by a suitable driver06:57
DaveWMTriffid_Hunter, so if I haven't installed any nvidia drivers and my default output is the intel IGP atm... I don't have to mess with it?06:58
DaveWMI'm satisfied with that then.   I haven't noticed my fan kicking on as much as it does when nvidia is in use.. it's been pretty quiet... so maybe it's all good the way it is06:59

WobboIn the bluetooth settings I often can't find the keyboard. If it does find the keyboard, the connection often fails (I did check the keyboard on a Mac, it works without any issues). If I click on the bluetooth icon (right top) the keyboard is there. If it connects and remains connected, nothing works. Sometimes the connections goes on and of repeatedly. And sometimes it works, but after a while a button gets stuck (for example "aaaaaaaaaaa08:57

skinuxIs this the best way to downgrade PHP? http://askubuntu.com/questions/116254/how-to-downgrade-from-php-5-4-to-5-314:09
skinuxI need to try downgrading from 714:09
bekksskinux: Which Ubuntu do you run?14:09
skinuxRegular Trusty AFAIK14:10
skinuxLTS14:10
skinuxIt's server only14:10
naccskinux: then how did you get php 7?14:10
skinuxHomestead VM14:10
arlekinhi there - i just freshly installed ubuntu 14.04 (cause 15.10 is apparently evil) and i wonder how can i generate proper .ssh folder ? i want to have my old key, and simple copypasting of the .ssh folder doesn't seem to work14:10
skinux14.04.114:11
rtyioit is not working14:11
naccskinux: not sure what this, but presuming it's actually a virtual machine, and you're running PHP7 in the VM, shouldn't you talk to homestead about it?14:11
miedziakHey guys, looking to buy USB headset with microphone. Can you recommend me what some of you use?14:12
skinuxThere is no homestead channel14:12
skinuxIt's really a Ubuntu issue, because the VM is a Ubuntu VM.14:12
=== Tawmu_ is now known as Tawmu
naccskinux: php7 isn't available in any version of Ubuntu Trusty14:12
skinuxNeither homestead nor vagrant are the OS14:12
naccskinux: so its not a "Ubuntu" VM at that point14:12
skinuxWell, uname -a says Ubuntu14:13
miedziakskinux, they mean official distribution and official package sources only Ubuntu.14:13
skinuxOkay, bottom line, is the link I posted the right way to downgrade PHP?14:13
naccskinux: that's probably how you downgrade the version from ubuntu; but you installed something not from ubuntu14:14
skinuxOkay, so, maybe I just need to install PHP 5.3/4 and set all aliases to use 5.3/4 instead of 714:14
naccskinux: so dunno what you did14:14
skinuxI didn't. Homestead is a pre-packaged VM.14:14
naccskinux: afaict, homestead is using vagrant to setup a VM to have the whole stack14:15
naccskinux: so are you asking how to downgrade the version of php in your homestead VM?14:15
naccskinux: as the VM shoudln't have had any effect in your host14:15
skinuxYes.14:15
skinuxHost is Windows14:15
naccskinux: then ask homestead. that is quite clearly 100% a homestead problem14:15

Months ago, I installed various additional fonts in my Ubuntu, and it made a conflict somewhere in the default Ubuntu font, because pages like Yahoo Mail or Twitter or most of the blogs, display a very hard-to-read font called HelveticaNeue, and for now I don't manage to remove it and get my browsers (Firefox and Chrome) displaying the correct default font...19:05

lucasrangitcortexman, you can go into recovery if you add the work "recovery" to the kernel command line23:41
