studio-user843computer just hung and rebooted about 3/4 through the install? not sure what happened there.02:52
austin_so i need a little help02:52
cfhowlett!ask | austin_02:52
ubottuaustin_: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience02:52
cfhowlettstudio-user843, if the install did not complete, assume your system is unstable and suspect.  reinstall02:53
austin_ok so just installed ubuntu studio with encryption an well... I started to do the update an for some reason it wants to save everything to the /boot  partician02:53
cfhowlettaustin_, I would guess that is what you specified in the partitioning stage.  did you manually partition??02:54
austin_i didn't manually partition  I simply followed the instructions  if this is too difficult i can always reinstall w/o the encryption02:56
cfhowlettaustin_, I have had greater success doing the encryption in post install.  I suggest you reinstall, let ubuntu automagically partition itself then encrypt.02:57
cfhowlettkeep an eye on the system to observe errors and whatnot in case it reboots again.  could be something else happening02:57
austin_cfhowlett,  I let it do its thing.. all i selected was encryption of my hard disk and my home folder02:58
austin_just weird that it wants to save my updates to the smallest partition02:58
cfhowlettaustin_, understood.  I am suggesting NOT encrypting during the initial installation.  do it afterwards02:59
cfhowlettyeah that is extremely abnormal.02:59
austin_well I guess i'll be back in i don't know maybe 30 minutes while i reinstall03:01
austin_thank you cfhowlett03:01
cfhowlettaustin_, hey03:01
austin_yes?03:01
cfhowlettfor grins and giggles: do an md5sum of your .iso and your USB03:01
cfhowlett!md5sum03:01
ubottuTo verify your Ubuntu ISO image (or other files for which an MD5 checksum is provided), see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM or http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO/Checking_the_md5sum_in_Windows03:01
cfhowlettlet's' ensure good media before we do anything else.  bad downloads DO happen --- and they cause unpredictable behavior03:02
austin_as soon as I read through an figure it out I'll be back with the results03:03
austin_ok I'll be honest I just downloaded this off another computer since I kind of formatted windows an I don't exactly have access to the iso now the usb I have in my possession03:07
cfhowlettaustin_, in future, *always* verify your .iso.  saves confusion, time, headaches.03:10
austin_cfhowlett, im back03:39
cfhowletthey!03:40
austin_clean install03:40
cfhowlettno issues so far, then?03:40
austin_well i haven't done any encryption03:40
austin_updates going smoothly03:45

parlabane_when i right click on items per se in a program and choose open folder i get audacious opening up how do i change that so that it actually opens the folder in file manager ?18:32
krytarikparlabane_: LP bug 1196339, a few hints here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/267514/open-containing-folder-in-firefox-does-not-use-my-default-file-manager , and it'd be 'Thunar-folder-handler.desktop' in Ubuntu Studio by default.19:00
