melodiewhat can I do with this information?00:19
melodieI mean, is there a specific place for bug reports for the Xenial edition right now?00:20
melodie(I installed the nvidia-304 packages, hopefully that will make the system more stable... )00:24
ChibaPetSo, some status. I have Xenial up on a Dell workstation. ZFS/LUKS root. X running with nVidia drivers. All going smoothly so far.04:27
ChibaPetIf there are recommendations for resources for a cranky ancient Unix person with some Debian experience to learn how to apply Unix experience to systemd I'd love to encounter them at some point.04:28
rwwhttps://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SysVinit_to_Systemd_Cheatsheet is fairly useful for "what maps to what"05:16
ChibaPetcool, ty05:17

VolkodavHi! I am having trouble burning an image to flash with unetbootin. I used it many times before but now it stalls at 253 of 453 files on extracting then comes out as complete and at boot it shows as OS missing12:51
enycvitimiti: is tha needed any more?  aren't the images already hybrid images  and just need 'usb image writer' or similar ??12:55
vitimitiw-what?12:56
vitimitiOh, you meant volkodav12:56
vitimitiIf he had waited I would have told him unetbootin is completely broken :D12:56
enycoops ;p12:57
vitimitiBtw, I had to retain upgrades for several days because they wanted to uninstall the Ubuntu SDK, I'm so glad the dependencies are now fixed12:58
enycanyway, are ubuntu iso images  now hybrid images  (mbr bootable in i386,  uefi+mbr bootable in i386+amd64)  ???12:58
enyclinuxmint  certainly has helpful hybrid disk images12:58
enycwas wondering about xenial12:59
vitimitiI believe they still use the i386 image separated12:59
enyc'separated' ??12:59
vitimitiNot hybrid, in a different image (English isn't my first language, sry)12:59

melodieI want to repeat my question of last night, (late evening)17:17
melodie<melodie> I get repeated freezes with "nouveau" installed, in my machine (a tower). here are the specs and a screenshot, and also a piece of log from syslog.17:17
melodie<melodie> http://meets.free.fr/files/Xenial-issues/17:17
melodie<melodie> what can I do with this information?17:17
melodieand17:17
melodie<melodie> I mean, is there a specific place for bug reports for the Xenial edition right now?17:17
melodie<melodie> (I installed the nvidia-304 packages, hopefully that will make the system more stable... )17:17
melodieI can now confirm, without xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/nouveau-firmware and with the nvidia drivers now it worked all day long without a hickup17:18
hggdhmelodie: just use ubuntu-bug. Xenial bugs go to LP as any others17:29
melodiehi hggdh thanks, and would you have a slight idea if it should go to the nouveau driver or to the nouveau firmware package, just by looking at the syslog tail file in my webspace? (the above link)17:32

SuperLagcan you upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04?23:05
SuperLagor only from LTS to another?23:05
jtayloryou can upgrade from .1023:06
k1lSuperLag:  either from 15.10 or 14.04.23:07
SuperLagexcellent23:14
tewardbut you do so at your own risk right now ;)23:22
SuperLagI know 16.04 is still beta. All disclaimers about using beta, understood. Just curious to know how it's been for you guys, and if you've noticed any odd behavior / extra limbs growing / showstoppers?23:22
k1lthe vlc playlist doesnt work for me :(23:23
SuperLagWas thinking about setting up the server version on a headless box.23:23
k1lthe gui stuff is more flaky, imho. so gui less should be running "fine for a alpha"23:24
SuperLagIs it still an alpha? or is it beta now?23:25
k1li thought they were not doing any betas23:26
SuperLagoh?23:28
SuperLagthat's news to me, but I'm out of touch, for sure23:29
jtayloralphas and betas are basically just better tested installers23:29
jtaylornot much more23:29
jtaylorthe rest is all rolling23:29
k1lah ok. they marked betas again on the 16.04 schedule. but for some 15.04 or such they skipped the betas, iirc23:30
jtayloronly some flavors make betas23:30
