rbasakPower consumption seems to have gone up significantly with OTA-9.1 (on Aquaris 4.5). Now the battery only lasts a day or so on idle. Before it used to last 2-3 days.11:48
rbasakOn the plus side the higher consumption rate means the battery percentage readout is accurate again (I think).11:48
matv1Can anyone confirm that network credentials for WPA2 enterprise do not keep anymore?11:51
matv1Saved WPA personal connections do reconnect on leaving/rejoining a network automaticaly. But WPA Enterprise do not11:53
davmor2matv1: did you check the button to keep the creds?11:53
matv1I did indeed :)11:54
davmor2matv1: then it should work nothing has change since it was done11:54
davmor2give me 2 minutes though11:55
matv1I should say at least peap/MSCHAPv2 does this (I work in a school that does eduroam)11:55
matv1davmor2 sure np!11:55

matv1thanks for now!12:21
pete-woods1matv1: anything related to wpa_supplicant or network-manager is useful12:22
davmor2pete-woods1: thanks I can't reproduce it here at all but wasn't sure is there was a log other network-manager that would be worth looking at :)12:22
pete-woods1davmor2: yeah, the indicator isn't even involved when connecting to known networks12:23
pete-woods1so it's not always obvious where to go next12:23
davmor2pete-woods1: nice I wasn't sure if there might of been a creds log somewhere that said if it was pinged or not. but obviously not :) good to know for the future :)12:24
pete-woods1davmor2: for wifi at least, we have configured NM to store the credentials itself (in /etc/NetworkManager), and the certs are somewhere just on the filesystem12:25
pete-woods1so it doesn't need to ask the secret agent / indicator12:26
davmor2pete-woods1: ah cool so everything that nm needs will be owned by it that's nice12:26
pete-woods1for better or worse, yes12:26

matv1(i am on bloody windows atm so i cant easily adb shell into my device at this minute :( )12:39
matv1I configured it yesterday and authentication details havent changed. Is the authentication part also stored there? surely not?12:39

SgrAHi15:10
mardypstolowski: hi! Do you have a minute for a question about unity-scopes-shell?15:11
pstolowskimardy, hey, sure15:11
SgrAI'm using Ubuntu on my OnePlus One, installed using MultiROM manager. I can't install stuff because it can't lock the /var path15:11
mardypstolowski: I'm working on this: https://code.launchpad.net/~mardy/unity-scopes-shell/clientid-1554040/+merge/28865115:11
dobeySgrA: don't try to use apt15:12
dobeySgrA: what are you trying to install?15:12
mardypstolowski: but when I build it, the tests fail: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/247394491/buildlog_ubuntu-vivid-arm64.unity-scopes-shell_0.5.6+15.04.20160310-0ubuntu1_BUILDING.txt.gz15:12
SgrAwas trying python15:12
mardypstolowski: do you think they are failing because of my changes?15:12
SgrA... and might have tried gcc.15:12
dobeySgrA: if you want to install different CLI tools from debs, see https://askubuntu.com/questions/620740/recommended-way-to-install-regularcli-deb-packages-on-ubuntu-phone/623311#62331115:12
SgrAThanks15:13
pstolowskimardy, they fail only from time to time right?15:17
mardypstolowski: I don't know, it's the first build :-)15:17
mardypstolowski: it looks like an unrelated failure, indeed15:18
pstolowskimardy, ok. anyway, not your fault, these tests are a bit flaky / racy and occasionally fail15:19

bregmamhall119, do you know what the story for running Core Apps on the Ubuntu desktop (eg. 16.04) is going to be, since clicks aren't supported for the desktop and the Core apps are not supported for debs or snaps?15:34
popeybregma: dpm has been playing with that15:35
popeybregma: technically we have debs, and dpm has made a few snaps15:35
bregmatechnically I can not point anyone to a PPA with debs for Xenial15:35
popeytoday, yes.15:36
dpmbregma, you can15:36
popeywell, dpm has one :)15:36
dpmbregma, https://code.launchpad.net/~dpm/+archive/ubuntu/ppa15:36
dpmthat's still the preferred option to get them to run either under unity 7 or unity 815:36
bregmais this going to be the official story for convergence then?15:36
dpmwell, core apps are not part of the platform, they build on top15:37
pete-woods1jgdx: it's just trying to open (what I assumed would be) a link to the list of VPN connections (settings:///system/vpn)15:37
dpmconvergence is more about merging the platform codebases to me and the SDK gaining more convergence features15:37
pete-woods1in the same way as the wifi settings15:38
dpmand ultimately the 3rd party packaging moving to snaps15:38
jgdxpete-woods1, good15:38
pete-woods1jgdx: which does settings:///system/wifi15:38
jgdxpete-woods1, that's perfect15:38
dpmthe "preview" snaps are there, but only for for unity 715:38
dpmI'll try to build some for unity 8, but probably not until mid-next week15:38
ahayzenHi, has anyone had issues when switching to/from WiFi/Cellular data using apps such as Dekko/Telegram that they then infinitely spin and require a restart of the app to be able to reconnect ? And is there an existing bug report somewhere for this?16:06
Smurphynot here.16:08
=== JoseeAntonioR is now known as jose
gvpmhey16:09
ahayzensimple steps to reproduce for me, 1) ensure wifi is connect 2) start dekko 3) refresh the inbox (notice the bouncing/loading bar stops eventually) 4) disable wifi so you are on cellular 5) refresh the inbox (notice the bouncing/loading bar stays continuously)16:12
SmurphyThe only problem I have is when connected through bluetooth with my car system, and I leave the car without manually disabling the Bluetooth on the phone, I get all Text-fields filled with 11111111111......16:13

dobeycool18:00
dobeypmcgowan, Mirv: ^^18:00

pmcgowandobey, is that an app issue or qt?18:02
pmcgowanlet me read18:02
dobeypmcgowan: well, ahayzen mentioned dekko and telegram, so i presume it's qt18:04
ahayzendobey, i assume both dekko and telegram hold open connections? i wonder if that is related ?18:04
dobeyi have noticed some weirdness recently in pay-ui related to qtnetwork, too; but i haven't had time to really figure out what it is18:05
pmcgowanwonder if they are not reacting to a signal18:05
ahayzenmaybe they don't get notified/closed or something when the network type changes18:05
dobeyahayzen: could be; i'd think that'd be a bug in the qtnetwork backend perhaps18:06
ahayzenthat is my current thought18:06
dobeyunless of course they're not using qtnetwork18:06
dobey(i don't know if they are or not)18:06
dobeyDanChapman: ^^ is dekko using qtnetwork for it's connections to mail servers?18:09
* DanChapman reads scrollback18:33
V99hi!18:38
V99i have E5 with ubuntu touch and the mobile only charge when is power off, someone has the same problem in OTA 9.1? or my mobile is broken?18:39
[tj]V99: I haven't had this with my E518:40
V99ok, im imagine that is hardware problem18:40
DanChapmandobey yes dekko uses qtnetwork for it's connections.18:42
dobeyok18:43
ahayzen...does telegram use qtnetwork as well ?18:43
DanChapmanahayzen that sounds like a possible bug in dekko's network watcher which uses the connectivity api. The progress bar isn't tied to network activity as such but to user visible tasks (which include network tasks) that are going to affect the view. Does refreshing the inbox a second time cause the progress bouncer to stop? It should cancel any previous tasks.18:47
ahayzenDanChapman, let me try18:48
ahayzenDanChapman, tried pulling three times, still bouncing. And you can tell it isn't doing anything as it usually stutters as it bounces18:49
ahayzenDanChapman, even like going to the Sent Mail/Personal section, it still bounces18:58
DanChapmanahayzen, hmm odd! ok... just to be sure it isn't doing anything if you open the "About" page in email settings and long press the dekko icon to enable the developer settings. then go back to the navigation drawer you can enable the imap log viewer. Restart dekko and you should have an extra option in the header to open the log panel (you can swipe left/right between account). With it open try and reproduce the issue and see if the "Sync18:58
DanChapmanmailbox" tasks starts.18:58
ahayzenok..18:59
ahayzenDanChapman, so when on wifi after the refresh i waited for "+idling" ... then disabled WiFi ... then turned off WiFi to drop to Cellular do a refresh and all i got is "DONE"19:03
ahayzenDanChapman, any further refreshes don't add anything to the log19:04
DanChapmanOk now that helps. Do you see the little wifi icon in the header?19:05
ahayzennope19:05
ahayzenjust the search and imap log thing19:06
DanChapmanahayzen, thanks that narrows it down some more! So it looks like Dekko never noticed the connectivity changes & tried to terminate IDLE on the assumption nothing has changed and is now sat waiting for an OK response from the server (infinite progress bar). So it's an issue somewhere in the network watcher/connectivity-api.19:10
ahayzenDanChapman, ok! So you mean an issue in dekko's network watcher/connectivity .. or the platform ?19:11
DanChapmanahayzen, yeah dekko's network watcher or the platforms connectivity api. Although I still need to move Dekko to the new ubuntu connectivity api as i noticed the deprecation warnings couple of weeks ago.19:13
ahayzenDanChapman, ok, do you mind adding that info to the bug 1555751 ? and i guess we should add dekko/telegram to the bug maybe as well ?19:13
ubot5bug 1555751 in qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) "Some apps require a restart after switching to/from Wifi/Cellular to reconnect to the network" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/155575119:13
DanChapmanahayzen, yep will do :-)19:14
ahayzenthanks :-)19:14
ahayzenDanChapman, interestingly if you give it back the WiFi..it eventually sorts itself back out19:15

mariogripI don't think wifi draw that much21:45
mariogrip*it should not*21:45
dobeywell, switching between wifi and cell all the time does i guess; concrete block is not great for wifi it turns out21:46
n1cky_mariogrip: what does ubports stand for?21:46
n1cky_ubuntu ports?21:46
mariogripn1cky_: jup21:47
dobeyand then if i turn on vpn, it really kills the battery :P21:47
dobeymaybe i'll try vpn later though21:47
dobeymariogrip: i do wonder if maybe bt is a bit overactive in the android side, with no way for ubuntu to manage it, and that might cause some battery drain?21:48
mariogripdobey: yeah, that seems to be drawing alot on opo to so I guess that's ubuntu21:48
n1cky_mariogrip: you own nexus6?21:48
dobeyyeah, vpn is just networkmanager-openvpn or openvpn itself probably being a pain21:49
mariogripdobey: there should be noting in the hal that can trun it on, bluedroid is removed21:49
mariogripthat's also what I think can be the problem with bt21:49
mariogripn1cky_: yes21:49
n1cky_mariogrip: That's what I'll be working on for the rest of the day.21:50
n1cky_it's only 4pm here.21:50
dobeymariogrip: oh. can you fix that?21:50
mariogripn1cky_: Cool! I have managed to get ubuntu working on that, but without graphics "just adb/terminal"21:51
mariogripdobey: I guess I could take the hci part from bluedroid and use that21:51
mariogripsince it's broadcom i cannot use what I normally use hci_qcomm_init21:52
n1cky_mariogrip: if you could send me a tgz with your working directory, that would be much appreciated. Maybe I can get things working better.21:53
mariogripn1cky_: I can push it to our repos21:53
n1cky_pm me for email address21:53
dobeyhehe21:53
n1cky_mariogrip: even better21:53
dobey15GB tarball? no thanks :)21:53
n1cky_that's the power of the git submodule. :)21:54
dobeyugh, git submodules :)21:54
n1cky_mariogrip: if i can recommend something for ubports.com, http://gitit.net/21:55
n1cky_it looks like you switched from mediawiki to something else21:55
n1cky_but being able to manage wiki pages with markdown and vim and git makes wiki's much more likely to get maintained, imho21:55
mariogripn1cky_: this is git + nodejs based https://wiki2.ubports.com/21:56
mariogripthat's our new one21:56
mariogripwe will be moving to that one soon21:56
n1cky_did you write that or?21:56
mariogripI want to move away from php21:56
mariogripn1cky_: I made the template, it uses jingo21:56
mariogripwhen we remove mediawiki, then php is gone from our servers :P21:57
n1cky_:)21:57
n1cky_how do i clone the wiki?21:57
mariogripn1cky_: device config: https://github.com/ubports/android_device_moto_shamu21:58
n1cky_thanks!!!21:58
mariogripn1cky_: kernel: https://github.com/ubports/android_kernel_moto_shamu22:00
mariogripn1cky_: you can edit on the wiki or https://github.com/ubports/wiki.ubports.com22:01
n1cky_excellent. This is awesome22:01
mariogripdobey: I will do some cleanup on *.rc files on n5, remove all unused and "not working", that may boost the battery life22:03
dobeymariogrip: ok, sounds good22:03
dobeymariogrip: i did notice that the latest images boot very slowly too22:04
mariogripdobey: Yeah, I saw that22:04
dobeydoh; the qa trello board queue has a lot of stuff in it right now22:05
n1cky_mariogrip: the missing digital ocean banner at the bottom is distracting22:09
n1cky_:S22:09
mariogripn1cky_: seems like they have removed the link, it's on my todo list22:10
dobeymariogrip: do you have a problem on any of your devices where there are no thumbnails in gallery for the pictures on the device?22:10
mariogripdobey: Yeah, the opo22:11
dobeymariogrip: does the gallery app log have complaints about apparmor access to the files?22:11
mariogripdobey: I haven't checked that yet, but I haven't seen any22:12
n1cky_https://wiki2.ubports.com/wiki/Building-ubports-source step 322:13
dobeyyeah, they aren't actual denials in syslog; it's just the apparmor check in thumbnailer getting a result that says the profile can't access the jpg files22:13
n1cky_should be 'mkdir phablet && cd $_' right?22:13
mariogripn1cky_: yeah22:14
n1cky_mariogrip: when i tried to edit i got sent to cloudflare22:14
mariogripn1cky_: it worked for me, what did you use to login with?22:16
n1cky_github OAUTH22:17
n1cky_it went through after22:17
n1cky_but I think when the update got pushed, jingo rebuilt and the site didn't respond for a second22:17
n1cky_thus cloudflare kicked in22:17
n1cky_and then a second later when I refreshed the site was back up and all was well22:17
mariogripn1cky_: humm, seems that it got updated22:19
=== salem_ is now known as _salem
n1cky_mariogrip: cloning ubports/android doesn't populate things enough23:33
n1cky_are you supposed to call phablet-dev-bootstrap and then clone afterwards?23:34
mariogripno repo sync23:34
mariogripn1cky_: oh, i havent added that to the new wiki yet23:35
mariogripthat's why that is not released as the main wiki yet23:35
mariogripsorry my bad, added it now23:36
n1cky_Nice, thanks.23:38
