Naseer_Hi, I am getting error "Synaptics backend not found"10:12
Naseer_root@naseer-VirtualBox:/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d# xinput list ⎡ Virtual core pointer                          id=2    [master pointer  (3)] ⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer                id=4    [slave  pointer  (2)] ⎜   ↳ VirtualBox mouse integration              id=9    [slave  pointer  (2)] ⎜   ↳ VirtualBox USB Tablet                     id=10   [slave  pointer  (2)] ⎜   ↳ ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse           i10:13
Naseer_this  is xinput list10:13
lordievaderSynaptics on a virtual machine?10:14
Naseer_i have installed kubuntu in virtualbox10:15
Naseer_though i have seprate kubuntu installation too, and in that synaptics is working fine10:16
Naseer_i am using kubuntu 15.10 in virtualbox10:16
lordievaderAre we talking about the synaptics touchpad or the package manager here?10:16
Naseer_oh sorry, its synaptics touchpad10:17
lordievaderYeah, ok as I figured. Are you passing your touchpad through to the vm or something?10:18
Naseer_i have windows host, kubuntu guest, i have not any settings for passing touchpad.10:18
Naseer_touchpad hardware is fine. In my kubuntu host machine (14.10) its working fine. In kubuntu guest its not working10:19
lordievaderNaseer_: So why run the driver if you are not passing trhough the hardware?10:21
lordievaderthrough*10:21
Naseer_i am not able to scroll with 2 fingers on touchpad10:27
lordievaderI suppose your scroll action doesn't get translated to the emulated mouse.10:28
Naseer_any suggestions for fixing the problem10:29
lordievaderConnect a usb mouse and see if scrolling works in there.10:29
Naseer_for usb mouse, its working fine10:30
oquidavehello, am trying to connect to a remote box via sftp using filezilla. When i attempt to add my private key, it gives me a prompt; "The file '/home/oquidave/.ssh/id_rsa' is not in a format supported by FileZilla.Would you like to convert it into a supported format". When I say yes, it instead brings up the file system browser again and never adds the key. Anyone encountered this problem before?11:18
kusr_I have this strange problem that appeared recently. Logging in to plasma desktop would hang at different points while the progress bar is shown. Then the login manager sddm started failing. I switched to xfce and xdm which work fine. But sometimes when I launch KDE programs the Xorg process goes to 50% CPU and then spends most of its time in the "uninterruptible sleep" (D) state. What is going on?11:33
kusr_I tried creating a fresh user account, but that one also could not log in to plasma.11:34
kusr_If I stay away from anything KDE I don't have any problems.11:35
kusr_Some "light" KDE programs like Konsole and Konversation also don't seem to be causing problems, while Gwenview and Okular might.11:36
joelmoDoes kubuntu start the kdessession using the startscript or systemd. And where is kubuntu development happening, I am abit lost on launchpad11:48
lordievaderjoelmo: sddm takes care of starting Plasma. Sddm is started through systemd (in >15.10). For Kubuntu development questions ask around in #kubuntu-devel11:49
joelmothanks lordievader11:50

=== struk|desk|away is now known as struk|desk
ArranYes, sorry had to bring the dog out.14:31
ArranI received a DVD from a friend with some selfmade film clips of railroads.14:32
ArranK3b tells me, that it is an ***.iso file. How can I open (or mount) this DVD?14:32
=== struk|desk is now known as struk|desk|away
lordievaderArran: Iso files are virtual representations of cd's. You can simply mount them as if they are a regular block device.14:42
lordievaderhttp://www.tecmint.com/how-to-mount-and-unmount-an-iso-image-in-linux/14:42
BluesKajArran, if there is video on the disk in iso form , VLC will still play it natively14:54
ArranThanks a lot. I am now trying it and then coming back.14:56
ArranFirst Result:14:56
Arranarran@arran14:~$ sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop /tmp/kde-arran/k3bimage-3.iso /mnt/iso/14:56
Arranmount: block device /tmp/kde-arran/k3bimage-3.iso is write-protected, mounting read-only14:56
Arranmount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop1,14:56
Arran       missing codepage or helper program, or other error14:56
Arran       In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try14:56
BluesKajArran, install kubuntu-restricted-extras and libdvdcss by following the instructions here,  http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss.html, if the disk is DRM protected then the preceding suggestions should wqork for you.15:03
ArranBluesKaj: it does not so with my VLC. Would I need possibly an add.on?15:03
ArranBoth programs are installed. As the films are private, their are not DRM protected.15:05
BluesKajArran, check this out, https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=10770015:10

fariahi guys15:15
fariahow can i change the keyboard layout once for all15:15
faria_15:15
=== struk|desk|away is now known as struk|desk
ArranGo to System setting, choose under Hardware something called «Entering devises» or so.15:18
ArranThen you choose keyboard and choose the correct one.15:19
BluesKajfaria, system settings>inputDevices>Keyboard>Layouts tab> check configure layouts , then click on add and proceed from there15:20
ArranBluesKaj: The link led to another link, however I can not see there a valid information for Linux. Especially not downloadable file.15:23
fariaTnaks so much guys you made my day!15:25
BluesKajArran, can you copy the image from the dvd to your hard drive with K3b?15:26
ArranYes15:35
BluesKajArran, then the copy might play in vlc as an iso file15:36
ArranI think, as the problem is not too urgent, I am going to send to my friend an USB stick and ask him to copy and paste these files onto the stick and then send it by mail back to me.15:37
=== struk|desk2 is now known as struk|desk|away
BluesKajArran, it's not a difficult taks to copy the image in K3b15:39

BluesKajArran, then I suspect the video is not encoded properly15:45
ArranAs I said, I am cutting here, I can not think we will find a solution. I also tried to look up the add-ons for VLC but the choice is so chaotic, I would not know where to start.15:45
ArranBig thanks for your willingness to help me. Much appreciated. At least, we could help the guy with his keyboard question.15:46
ArranSee you soon somewhere.15:47
vertago1Did anybody record the packaging event yesterday? I planned to join the hangout, but I have been dealing with a work emergency all week.15:52

aethersishello, is there some google callendar integration in Kubuntu 16.04 or older?20:14
aethersisit would be awesome if there was some widget for it...20:14
BluesKajaethersis, there's nothing older then 16.0420:17
aethersisI'm using 16.04 and it's really awesome and beautiful20:17
aethersisI love its looks and they even added support for my soundcard based on C-Media CM8888 chip20:17
aethersisand surprisingly, it sounds better than on Windows for some strange reason... probably less DSP is involved. It's also got crazy buffer size, so I don't have this sound clipping issue while recording on Realtek chip20:18
