[00:12] Hi people [00:14] hello [00:43] Hi nu7shell . [00:45] Hi! [00:45] Hey, im having this trouble with my usb flashdrive [00:46] So happened that my laptop went off when i was given format to this usb. [00:46] Now it doesnt shows anymore when plugged. [00:46] Not even blink any led that have my usb. [00:47] I believed that its dead, but i ran dmesg | grep usb and this is what i get [00:47] https://dpaste.de/10Xj [00:47] So, i think that it might have any solution. [00:48] This is my only USB flashdrive, and i wont get another soo, so i really need it. [00:48] soon* [00:51] hello, trying to help someone online with installing xubuntu, they have it installed, they can view their slave drive(even repartitioned it in gparted), but they still can't copy files to it, says 'paste' is greyed out in menu...any ideas what could be causing this? [00:54] nu7shell, have you tried another usb port? [00:55] mrkramps, yep, nothing happened. [00:56] nu7shell, do you have another usb stick to check? [00:57] mrkramps, nop, this is the only one i have. [00:57] nu7shell, do you have another operating system to check the one you have? [01:00] nu7shell, your system fails to enumerate the usb device properly which might have different reasons - port, stick, power or kernel bug [01:02] mrkramps, i have tried it on a windows machine too, and it doesnt even recognize it. [01:02] mrkramps, it says unknown device. [01:03] in this case it is most likely a hardware issue [01:04] if other usb devices work on the same port consider your stick to be dead [01:05] Thats what i thought [01:05] Thanks anyways mrkramps [01:05] :) [01:05] you're welcome [04:19] I'm looking for a laptop that will run Linux [04:19] doesn't need to have major hardware, a decent i7 will do the trick [04:20] most laptops will run linux fine tortib [04:20] ok [04:20] never came across one that wouldn't [04:20] well I have a Mac Pro 3,1 [04:20] i want to install Xubuntu on that [04:20] will it work? [04:20] lets have a look on the web [04:21] says it will run Ubuntu 14.04 [04:21] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro3-1/Trusty [04:21] says that too so later version of any *buntu should be fine [04:21] hm nice [04:21] so I just download the xubuntu image and install? [04:22] have a read of the link I posted first to check [04:22] but it should be fairly straight forward [04:23] here's the wiki for that laptop https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro3-1 [04:23] well I'm using appleraid [04:23] and I don't think I can resize the volume [04:24] let me try really quick [04:24] the arch wiki is always a handy thing https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MacBook [04:25] yeah doesn't work with this stupid appleraid [04:25] can I just boot the CD from the boot selector and just install it to one of the SSDs I have? [04:27] I don't know about apple products at all [04:27] I guess I could TIAS [04:27] System Uptime: 11 hours, 49 minutes, 32 seconds - Textual Uptime: 11 hours, 49 minutes, 7 seconds [04:27] yep [04:27] can I install Enlightenment from Xubuntu?
