[01:03] Hello everyone. I'm having an issue manually adding a WPA2 Enterprise (with LEAP auth) wifi conection using the edit connections screen. [01:03] I put in all of the required information but the "Save" button is always greyed out [01:26] I looked at LaunchPad and couldn't find anything there === Anthony is now known as Guest37970 === anthony is now known as Guest39237 [07:18] hello [07:44] if i update to 16.04, will my data be preserved? [11:31] Hey all [12:09] there [12:09] MonkeyDust [12:09] lotuspsychje [12:09] bbl dinner [12:09] guten appetit === lotuspsychje_ is now known as lotuspsychje [12:28] MonkeyDust: merci :p [12:32] do things like:' No Hash entry in Release file' and 'The repository is insufficiently signed by key ' mean that my apt-get dist-upgrade won't process updates from those repos now on Xenial? [12:32] miegas ok [12:32] hi. how do I (re)set the display resolution via command line over ssh? [12:33] icey: explain what you did exactly? [12:33] apt-get update [12:33] lotuspsychje: [12:33] miegas type ssh -Y [user@ip] xrandr [12:33] icey: added external ppa's on xenial? [12:34] oh yeah lotuspsychje :) a couple are fun, juju-devel and juju-stable are in the list of warnings [12:34] miegas make that ssh -Y -t <-- -t for terminal [12:34] MonkeyDust: xrandr doesn't see the display in the ssh tty. [12:34] as well as Chrome and Steam [12:34] adding -d :0 doesn't help [12:34] icey: we dont support of external ppa's mate, please help bug out 16.04 clean [12:34] miegas you tried ssh -Y ? [12:35] icey: if you have troubles, first remove the external ppa's [12:35] lotuspsychje: I'm just wondering if apt will pull updates from repos that trigger that warning, including Canonical mnanaged repos like http://ppa.launchpad.net/juju/stable/ubuntu [12:35] MonkeyDust: problem: all I have to connect is an android tablet with connectbot. :-} [12:35] miegas does xrandr show output on your local machine? [12:36] ok [12:36] icey: maybe ask the juju guys that, but adding non-default ppa's can result into issues [12:36] alternatively, I'd be happy tongo for "nuke the display config" if I know the files to delete. [12:37] xorg.conf isn't it anymore, I guess. [12:38] miegas no, i don't even have a xorg.conf file [12:39] yeah, mine's just empty. [12:40] icey: there is a #juju channel if you like also [12:40] lotuspsychje: I'm in the #juju channel all day every day :) looks like a bug is at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1558331 regarding this [12:40] Launchpad bug 1558331 in apt (Ubuntu) "After upgrading to apt 1.2.7 in Xenial, PPAs and most other third-party repositories become unusable with "The repository is insufficiently signed by key (weak digest)"" [Undecided,Confirmed] [12:41] lemme have a look [12:42] !info apt xenial [12:42] apt (source: apt): commandline package manager. In component main, is important. Version 1.2.6 (xenial), package size 981 kB, installed size 3166 kB [12:43] icey: yours is also this version? [12:43] 1.2.7 actually [12:43] I updated this morning and now have 1.2.7 [12:43] hmm bot might need resync then [12:44] nvm [12:44] icey: you install xenial fresh or upgrade from..? [12:44] http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/15407375/ [12:44] lotuspsychje: it WAS a freesh xenial, but it's been updated nearly daily for 3 weeks? [12:45] fresh* [12:45] icey: great, maybe update your experience to this existing bug? [12:45] 'im affected too' [12:46] done lotuspsychje, I suspect that what's needed most is a note on PPAs (on LP) that use old signing algorithms about how to update them [12:46] icey: ok tnx for helping bug out xenial [12:46] making it better for everyone on final [12:46] lotuspsychje: it's fun doing all of my day to day work on a pre-release OS :) [12:47] yeah working like a charm on desktop here also [12:47] lotuspsychje: I've been fairly happy, Chrome crashes a lot though ;-) [12:47] finally, single click on an icon to minimize [12:47] icey: chromium to the rescue [12:48] yea lotuspsychje, I ran into something that really wanted chrome, don't remember what it was though [12:48] MonkeyDust: yeah it all lookin neat huh [12:49] MonkeyDust: did you try gnome-software already? [12:49] MonkeyDust: its in repos now [12:49] lotuspsychje yes, i was about to ask youi the same question [12:49] tested yesterday [12:50] tested months ago :p [12:50] and seems liek the installed packages is ready [12:57] ok, new question: where are the hardware display specific configs stored? [12:57] i just reattached the old one: it works. [12:58] back tomthe new one: nope [13:00] (and the old one runs at the resolution I want to go back to with the new one) [13:00] miegas who are you talking to and what about? [13:01] well, you :-) – and about my "remove wrong display resolution" problem. [13:02] miegas all i know is, you can't display the resolution over ssh [13:03] I want to force another resolution without graohical access. [13:03] turns out, if I connect my old monitor, it reverts to its resolution and everything is fine. [13:04] back to the new one: fubar again. [13:04] so I assume there's some kind of "per hardware" resolution setting somewhere [13:16] meh, solved via hardware swapping: booted to old monitor, hor-swapped to new one -> new monitor recognized while still running the old resolution. [13:16] Then it was a two-click fix. [13:18] miegas great [13:27] still annoying though ;-) [13:28] but thanks a lot! [16:28] i already /ignore the gopher dude [16:28] lol [16:29] my mother is sys admin [16:29] and i am a user hacking her [16:31] yeah, told him it's time for his own pc [16:31] :p [16:32] my mother this, my mother that [16:33] mama's boy on a leash [16:33] haha [16:34] like Sterling Archer - if that name rings a bell [16:35] not here [16:35] brb mom calls [16:36] I recall my parents being very upset when I was 10yrs old and bought a new bicycle with my hard earned money from caddying at the local golf club..."it' my money " [16:51] BluesKaj: already a young linux rebel :p [16:52] BluesKaj: Maybe they had a bicycle stashed away in the attic they were planning to give you for Christmas [16:54] hmm smart, could have [17:01] interesting: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Radeon-DRI3-3Way-Xenial [17:05] genii, nope, my Dad was too cheap , I had to work for mostly anything of consequence that i wanted. Some thing I learned early in childhood :-) [18:20] When is it going to be released? [18:21] viju: what exactly? [18:21] 16.04 will be released on Apr 21 [18:22] ah wait its #ubuntu+1 :) end of april :) [18:22] I was about to download ubuntu 14.04 and then realised 16.04 release is close [18:22] Thanks [18:23] viju, I'm running KDE/Plasma version, Kubuntu 16.04 Xenial, and it's running fine. [18:25] Kubuntu16 released before? [18:25] it's available for testing [18:26] Could you tell why 64 bit is pointing me to amd? [18:26] http://www.ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads [18:27] I have an intel [18:28] intel is included if you read the description closely here, http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ [18:30] EM64T= intel
