linuxmintHello, is there a way to connect my linux laptop to the ubuntu-server machine, which needs a reinstall of ubuntu-server. I need a keyboard and monitor on the machine for the install.04:10

linuxmintHello, is it a good idea to install ubuntu-server on a virtual server?06:57
linuxmintIf I understand correctly, the virtual server is only as big as the hard drive...say 120GB?06:58
linuxmintThis seems to limit the amount of servers like ubuntu-server, to install on the drive.06:58
linuxmintAlso, if the drive is faulty, the virtual server and the guest ubuntu-server would need to be reinstalled?06:59
lordievaderGood morning.10:18

phillwhi folks, for anyone following 16.04 can you have a look at bug 1559507 and confirm, thanks.18:38

ChibaPetHey all. apt-add-respository for Oracle Java stuff worked on my brother-in-law's computer, but then Aptitude was unwilling to update, citing key problems. The repo add worked for apt-get. I've not encountered this particular skew before. Ideas?18:47
ChibaPetI know apt-get and aptitude keep different conceptions of caches, but I was (incorrectly) guessing they would share auth data.18:48

daxChibaPet: is your brother-in-law running 16.04?21:15
=== hallyn81 is now known as hallyn
daxChibaPet: if so, apt on 16.04 got more strict about signature checking and you should prod the repository maintainer to use sha256 (also, note that Oracle Java is not an officially supported package, and #ubuntu+1 knows about this issue more)21:18
ChibaPetdax: 16.04, yes - thank you (and I'd have been happy with openjdk, but he encountered an inexplicable error running Minecraft)22:26
ChibaPet(which I don't see, but, computers...)22:26
