keithzgVirtualBox does a better job for easy usage of graphical environments, IMHO. We use KVM for running servers at work, but for any Windows or Linux GUI instances we tend to use Virtualbox.00:01
keithzgSpeaking of, ran afoul of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1547297 when testing the i386 image in Virtualbox just now, but otherwise it seems fine!00:01
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1547297 in gdm3 (Ubuntu) "No auto login in Ubuntu GNOME Xenial" [High,Confirmed]00:01
keithzg(It's possible that it's actually a coincidentally different bug, but I figured more likely that bug was just incorrectly reported as being more specific than it actually is)00:02
sgclarkkeithzg: can you add plasma5 tag to that bug report and make mention of it please00:03

yofel@ovidiuflorin / ovidiu-florin: no, we don't have a way to track extra stuff we package. There is https://merges.ubuntu.com/universe.html which tracks debian. And there might be a system that considers the watch files to check for new upstream releases that I'm not sure if it actually exists or where it would be10:45

yofelwxl: ubiquity-dm is busted and a bunch of live-session bugs20:00
wxlyofel: :( i take it i should mark the images as not ready then and assume you're not planning on release, or do you have some hope still? release team seems to think we're going to release today.20:01
yofelhm, I can do some upgrade testing...20:01
yofelwxl: well, If someone tells me how I can debug the thing I *might* have some hope. That I didn't have time to do debugging until an hour ago sure doesn't help with the beta release20:02
yofelI mean, ubiquity itself does work from the live session, so we *could* release something buggy....20:02
wxlyofel: the killer is bug 1561051?20:03

yofelthe live session fallback works, so it's not fatal, you just have no language selection20:03
wxlyofel: i'll check in with release team. meanwhile, i won't tell you what to do but if it were me, i'd release the beta with the workaround. i wouldn't be so inclined for final.20:03
acheron88clivejo: muon now seems to be giving some QApt errors and a segfault on reload of package cache once installing something20:05
acheron88wasn't the case a week or 2 ago when I compiled it, so something now amiss20:06
acheron88on recompile its the same20:06
wxlyofel: if you do decide to go ahead, just make sure to update https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/Beta2. otherwise mark not-ready. i'll be willing to do that for you if you need it.20:06
clivejoacheron88: you compiled 5.5.0?20:07
acheron88compiled what was in git, which has had version bumped to 5.5.020:08
acheron88to be honest, didn't expect it to work. just tried it out of curiosity when I showed discover the door.20:10

yofeldoes someone want to update the release notes? ^20:13
yofelI'm kind of busy20:13

acheron88clivejo: installs OK, but defaults while trying to reload package list20:16
keithzgacheron88: Yeah, I hadn't tried compiling it on Xenial until yesterday. I actually didn't get any segfault, but for me it wasn't even surfacing the ability to install packages so I didn't get that far.20:17

clivejoacheron88: any clues?21:18
acheron88clivejo: nope, as (1) still does not seem to want to recognise the muon dbg package as being installed21:21
mparilloBug list updated. When I get bore, I will update my perl script to remove duplicates.21:22
acheron88(2) I'm grap with backtraces anyway 21:22
clivejoQApt::Package::isInstalled (this=this@entry=0x116e130) at ../../src/package.cpp:80821:22
mparilloahoneybun: Do you see the social media graphis on the release notes?21:22
geniiKubuntu is releasing 26th and not 21st ?21:23
acheron88clivejo: really gotta go now. will try in a fresh xenial VM over the weekend. see if that works better21:24
yofelgenii: whatever is on the release schedule21:24
clivejodoubt it!21:24
clivejoseems to be a problem with qapt21:25
geniitelegram: Release day is the 21st and not the 26th as you indicated to a user in #kubuntu21:26
acheron88clivejo: seems likely. 21:27
clivejowhat is a releasechecker script?21:27
clivejo"Couldn't find the releasechecker script"21:27
telegram<athoneycutt>: I said 26 I mixed up the release notes 21:27
yofelthe thing that checks whether there's a new kubuntu version21:27
telegram<athoneycutt>: not for me, the images must be on the old page as attachments21:28
clivejoit seems to start tripping up and crashing after that21:28
acheron88libdiscovercommon: /usr/share/libdiscover/applicationsbackend/releasechecker21:28
acheron88libmuon: /usr/share/libmuon/applicationsbackend/releasechecker21:29
mparilloOK, I uploaded them again.21:29
telegram<athoneycutt>: thanks!21:31
mparilloHow do I highlight you when you are on telegram?21:32
yofelput an @ in front of the telegram name21:34
acheron88clivejo: trying one of those, despite version mismatch, gets rid of the releasechecker error 21:36
acheron88still crashes after the QApt messages though21:37
acheron88just doesn't seem like the git version of muon is happy with whatever packages/versions of QApt, or something else, is in xenial21:40
acheron88or is just busted in some way I didn't manage to trigger when I built a few weeks ago21:42
valoriethat was a huge split!22:03
clivejoindeed22:05

telegram<Clifford>: Its kinda working22:16
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: Kinda?22:16
telegram<Clifford>: But crashes after refreshing package list22:16
telegram<Clifford>: And after installing a package22:17
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: Are these reported bugs?22:17
telegram<Clifford>: Don't think so22:18
telegram<Clifford>: Muon was unmaintained but I heard Rick was going to take it on22:18
yofelsome of said crashes might've been fixed in discover in the meantime, I remember there being some this cycle. So it's probably worth looking there22:24
clivejoyofel: does this mean anything to you?  http://paste.ubuntu.com/15490856/22:25
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: From clivejo s backtrace I believe to be an apt api change22:25
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: That was not updated in muon22:25
yofelno, and there's no backtrace here. Please run 'bt full' once it crashes to get the trace22:26
yofelbut ovidiu is probably right22:26
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: I've heard of changes going in qapt22:28
telegram<ovidiuflorin>: Due to some changes in apt22:28
