phillwtsimonq2: so, you can confirm that https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-software-center/+bug/1467517 is solved for the test via alternate install?01:03
ubot93Launchpad bug 1467517 in lubuntu-software-center (Ubuntu) "LSC can only lists installed applications when lubuntu installed via alternate image - Work around released." [Low,Won't fix]01:03
tsimonq2yes, that's what I meant by commenting there01:23
dkesselmorning! so, are you people planning to switch to lxqt as a default at the start of the next cycle? or only maybe later, once the image looks/feels ok?06:12
phillwdkessel: lxqt will run as a community spin, only when the head of lubuntu dev is happy, will he propose the the Tech Board of Ubuntu that we switch from GTK to QT. There is a hell of a lot work going on behind the scenes to have Qt stuff passed and gotten into the various repos that it needs to be in. Some functionality is still being worked upon, so at moment best guess is 16.10 will have a Qt version available.11:23

phillwtsimonq2: "A fix for this bug has already been requested for Lubuntu default settings" go get your teeth into it :D11:34
tsimonq2phillw: wait wait wait wait...read your paste...what exactly am I doing? :P11:53
phillwtsimonq2: confirm that the bug has been squished, or is still there. Kylin say it is fixed.11:54
tsimonq2phillw: I commented on the bug yesterday with TWO screenshots...11:54
phillwtsimonq2: I saw, I am subscribed to the bug!!! Every bug I put on the release notes, I subscribe to so that when making the next set of notes I have a reference point of what to chase up. In this case, you do need to chat with bug-team on the devel area, as it is going to be a royal PITA if it is still there for 16.04 LTS.11:57
tsimonq2alright11:58
tsimonq207:00:19 AM < tsimonq2> Greetings, regarding bug 1530323, I don't know what to do next, and it's affecting Lubuntu, could somebody please take a look at12:00
ubot93bug 1530323 in network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) "The input box for editing a Wired connection static IP address doesn't appear correctly" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/153032312:00
tsimonq2                        this bug report and my comments and judge whether it's fixed yet or not? I can't really tell...12:00
tsimonq207:00:20 AM < ubottu> bug 1530323 in network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) "The input box for editing a Wired connection static IP address doesn't appear12:00
tsimonq2                      correctly" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/153032312:01
tsimonq2phillw: that ^12:01
phillwtsimonq2: quite possibly, this is where bugs should reference similar bugs... there is only so much the bug bot can do to mark duplications12:02
tsimonq2yeah12:03
phillwregardless of that... it is a hot bug, and deserves some attention...12:03
tsimonq2yes I know, nobody has picked it up yet :)12:04
wxlwhat about xscreensaver?17:03
tsimonq2wxl: grumpy maintianers, warning message will be present soon17:26
tsimonq2a really ugly one17:26
wxltsimonq2: hm?17:27
tsimonq212:03:34 PM < wxl> what about xscreensaver?17:28
tsimonq2that ^17:28
wxltsimonq2: elaboration may help me to understand. as it stands, i'm not really worried about grumpy maintainers or a warning emssage, however ugly it may be.17:29
tsimonq2k, looking up the bug :)17:29
tewardI doubt it's going away here in Xenial at this point in the cycle, no?17:30
tsimonq2https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=81970317:30
ubot93Debian bug 819703 in xscreensaver "xscreensaver: please disable "This version of XScreenSaver is very old! Please upgrade!" message" [Important,Open]17:30
tsimonq2no, but halfway through, I hear17:30
tsimonq2*shrug*17:30
teward"in the cycle" as in Xenial ;)17:31
wxlwow, that sounds totally ignorable17:31
tewardwe're still in Xenial cycle17:31
tsimonq2wxl: but it's not, it gets dramatic17:31
tsimonq2people get pissed off17:31
wxlthat's their problem XD17:31
tsimonq2but it affects downstream17:31
tsimonq2sooooooo17:32
tsimonq2unless we package it in Ubuntu, we are screwed17:32
wxlhow are we screwed?17:32
tsimonq2because don't we use xscreensaver?17:32
tewardwe're not17:32
tsimonq2and if we don't package it...17:32
tewardtsimonq2: even if it's removed in Debian, I don't think we autosync removals?17:32
tewardunless something is horribly horribly wrong with the autosyncer17:33
tsimonq2no, but it goes unmaintained17:33
tsimonq2unless somebody notices it17:33
tewardcan we push your worries into the next devel cycle, perhaps?  At this point in the Xenial cycle it's not helpful to worry about this17:33
tewardthere's things that need more attention17:33
wxli assume there's no maintainers in ubuntu?17:34
tsimonq2I understand, but it's a potential security risk if xscreensaver stops being maintained17:34
tsimonq2uhh I don't think so...17:34
wxlthen you'll need to find some people17:34
wxlotherwise, there's little that can be done17:34
wxlgood luck :)17:34
tsimonq2hey, that's MY job? XD17:34
tewardbut, lets move that to the next devel cycle17:34
tsimonq2^17:34
tsimonq2probably a good idea17:34
wxlit's not your job17:34
tewardand focus on getting Xenial completed17:34
tsimonq2yeah17:34
wxlbut if you care, find the right people to help with it17:35
teward^17:35
teward(that's what happened with the nginx package in server.  and lookit now, it's in main AND maintained regularly throughout development cycles)17:35
tsimonq2but keep it in mind, it might bite the whole Ubuntu community if nobody gives a shite until it's too late...17:35
wxlit won't really bite anyone17:35
wxlnibble at worst17:35
tewardtsimonq2: you and I need to have a talk about 'unnecessary worrying'17:35
wxldramatic developers are nothing new17:35
teward^17:35
wxli'm not about to enable their ridiculousness17:36
tsimonq2 \o/ alright then17:36
tsimonq2let's drop it17:36

tsimonq2agreed?17:37

tsimonq2yeah I confirmed all of them17:37
tsimonq2made sure they were still presnet17:38
tsimonq2*present17:38
tsimonq2well, as much as I could...17:38
tsimonq2I couldn't confirm stuff like the encryption bugs17:38
wxlis it me or is pcre the most unsecure piece of software ever?17:38
tsimonq2(box for it, nothing huge)17:38

* tsimonq2 kicks ubot93 17:39
tsimonq2anyways17:39
tewardwxl: actually had another question, do you have a link to the Rpi images?  I think there's something breaking in MATE, and I want to make sure the RPi images for Lubuntu don't suffer the same fate17:39
wxlteward: ubuntu-pi-maker.org ?17:40
wxlis that the right url?17:40
tsimonq2wxl: I'll try to confirm the ones I didn't yesterday when i get home from school, then I can slap it on a wiki page somewhere17:40

phillwwxl: flexiondotorg has direct access to the server. That is his department :)17:46
tsimonq2wxl: tonight I will revise w.u.c/Lubuntu/LXQt and whip up a blog post answering common questions, are you okay with that?17:47
tsimonq2or do you not want me to do that?17:47
wxltsimonq2: sure17:47
tsimonq2alright, you need me to run it by you first or should I just release?17:47
phillwhe does sftp / scp to the landing area and it is immeadiately available in my iso mirror area :) ... one less task for me :D17:48

phillwwxl: did you get the letter for bank stuff yet?17:49
tsimonq2wxl: I'll run through installation tests for Lubuntu tonight, do you need anything else from me? Any extremely trivial bug to fix? Any specific configuration or anything to test?17:51
