nikshello everyone, i'm having a problem when trying to launch the gnome terminal, it doesn't react when i try to directly launch gnome-terminal, i get this error when i try to launch it via xterm : https://pastee.org/35jkp, and finally it launches just well if i "sudo gnome-terminal" via xterm,11:13
niksalready show post about "locale-gen" and "localectl set-locale LANG="en_US.UTF-8"" but running those commands didn't help,11:14
darkxstniks do you get any crash reports?11:15
darkxstparticularly gnome-terminal-server11:16
nikswhere should i search for them, the only error log i could see is the  https://pastee.org/35jkp when i try to launch via xterm11:17

darkxst"/var/crash"11:18
darkxstif not file a bug `ubuntu-bug gnome-terminal` hopefully that will grab the relevant logs11:21
niksi have one from _usr_sbin_gdm, but i'm not sure it's related as i have only one crash on sbin_gdm but tried to open terminal a lot of time11:22
darkxstno wont be related11:22
darkxstfile a bug, then link it here11:22
nikshttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/156827211:30
ubot5`Launchpad bug 1568272 in gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) "Gnome-terminal won't start" [Undecided,New]11:30

darkxsthmm that didnt get any logs, can you attach the output of journalctl" to the bug11:34
niksNo journal files were found. -- No entries --11:37
niksNo journal files were found. -- No entries --11:38
niksi can acces to gnome-terminal with ctrl+alt+F1, but not the windowed mode11:40
darkxstthats not gnome-terminal11:41
darkxstniks, attach /var/log/syslog then11:41
nikssyslog give interesting info : Apr  9 13:42:14 niks-ThinkPad org.gnome.Terminal[1244]: Non UTF-8 locale (ANSI_X3.4-1968) is not supported!11:43
niksbut when i cat /etc/default/locale I get : LANG=en_US.UTF-811:44
niksi add "LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8    LANG=en_US.UTF-8" to /etc/environement and now everything is working fine, (don't understand why it was going with an other encoding tho ...)11:58
darkxstare you using gdm?12:02
darkxstthey should all be set for you12:02
niksi'm using gdm,12:07
darkxstI don't know what is causing it then, its not a widespread problem, so perhaps some configuration issue somewhere12:08
