[02:27] Hello has anyone tried install android studio 2.0 on xenial? It keeps core dumping during post installation configuration. (I've tried from ppa and download from google.) Known problem? [12:11] Hiyas all [12:41] hi BluesKaj [12:43] Hi cli [12:43] err Hi clivejo [13:03] Hello has anyone tried install android studio 2.0 on xenial and had problems? [13:13] jaldhar: what is the problem? [13:25] those packages available from https://launchpad.net/~paolorotolo/+archive/ubuntu/android-studio are just wrappers [13:26] downloads the zip from google and installs it along with few icons etc [13:39] strange version numbering going on there [13:40] clivejo: I have tried to install it from ppa and googles tarbal and I get a SIGBUS whenever I try to run it. I've used the openjdk 8 and oracles jdk 8 and get the same error so I think it is something in studio itself. [13:41] well then its a problem with studio [13:42] we only deal with Kubuntu problems here [13:44] clivejo: point taken but it was working on trusty and only failed on xenial which has not been released yet. So I thought I would ask here in case it was a problem that needed attention before the release. [13:44] Im installing it myself on my install for curiousity [13:45] clivejo: I expect it would be a popular thing to install for many users. [13:58] clivejo: any success? [14:28] suddenly after an upgrade to which I should have paid attention I have to login in the VT/TTY and startx to get a desktop ..login screen is MIA [14:43] BluesKaj: I get that too. I was going to try and figure that out after solving my current problem. [18:57] clivejo: ping. Did you have any success with android studio? [18:58] yeah I installed it and it seems to work [18:59] clivejo: dammit. It's just me then. Oh well I will invetigate further. Thanks for your help. [19:00] but I fixed the packaging to download 2.0 [19:00] and it installed that [19:07] clivejo: The deb I tried previously did download 2.0 - the same version that you get from googles download page. Did you use the oracle java jdk 8 packages or openjdk from ubuntu? [19:09] openjdk version "1.8.0_02-Ubuntu" [19:10] hmm think I have tried both but mostly I've been using oracle. Let me deinstall everything and try with openjdk [19:33] jaldhar: any luck? [19:47] clivejo: no. I'm afraid not. So now I'm going to try and go back to android studion 1.5.1 and jdk7 which was working for me on trusty. [19:48] I dont know, seems to work (well it opens the main IDE window) on my system [20:27] brrrrrr its cold! [20:38] no it is not :) [21:11] o/ soee [21:13] \o clivejo [21:13] how are you? [21:31] clivejo: just finished installling gitlab on second VPS, im pretty happy :) [21:32] whats gitlab? [21:33] git webapp [21:33] do you know github.com ? [21:34] so gitlab is opensource alternative :) [21:34] I do [21:34] I see [21:37] i do hate though my slow upload ... [21:41] I love kde-connect [21:42] would be amazing if I could control apps from my desktop [21:42] :) [21:49] soee make kde-connect do that :P [21:49] ;D [21:49] push the app UI to my desktop in a nice wee window [21:51] wb jaldhar [22:40] : http://linux.softpedia.com/blog/chakra-gnu-linux-gets-kde-plasma-5-6-2-frameworks-5-21-0-and-libreoffice-5-1-2-502779.shtml [22:42] I want 5.6 [22:51] I think we all do, but we are pretty much stuck until the Xenial release. [22:51] Doesn't that come out in only a couple more weeks though? [22:56] yeah, but I want it now [22:56] * clivejo stomps feet
