mda123Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has noticed Linux Mint graphics present in Xubuntu. It's relatively disconcerting.00:05
mda123http://i.4cdn.org/g/1461628880548.png (I uploaded it to /g/ - might be frowned upon here, sorry if so)00:05
knomemda123, which icon theme are you using?00:06
mda123A blue variant of Numix. Is that what could be causing this?00:07
mda123I didn't realise the icon theme could change such graphics, my bad.00:07
knomeindeed.00:07
pmatulisis there a way to configure app autostarting other than using the GUI applets? like a simple text file?00:19

xubuntu94wHello all! Trying to install 16.04. USB-drive in and booted. Black screen with mouse cursor. And in the upper corner a text "A start job is running for ubuntu installer".14:29
xubuntu94wAny ideas? :)14:29
pmatulisxubuntu94w: i got the same. i went for the 'try without installing' option and then hit the 'install' icon you get on the Desktop14:33
xubuntu94wI didnt got that "try without installing option" at all :/14:35
xubuntu94w*get14:35
jarnosTeaboy, maybe you want to try different locker then.14:52
jarnosTeaboy, kill light-locker, disable automatic startup of Screen locker in "Session and Startup" dialog, install e.g. i3lock, use xfce4-settings-editor to edit key /general/LockCommand of xfce4-session to have string "i3lock". Does it work for you?14:58
_maddyhi!15:00
xubuntu94wResolved the "A start job is running for ubuntu installer" situation by formatting first the hard drive and then trying to install Xubuntu.15:22
xubuntu94wThere was Windows installed before formatting15:22

nairwolfWhat do you use as default font on Xubuntu ?19:53
mrkrampsnairwolf, depends on your version19:53
nairwolfI'm using 16.0419:54
nairwolfI would like to know what people prefers19:55
mrkrampshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noto_fonts19:55
nairwolfI know it's something subjective but I would like some good advices19:55
nairwolfthanks ;)19:55
nairwolfmrkramps: Are you using noto serif or noto sans ?19:56
mrkrampsnairwolf, i am not using 16.04 yet, but default should be noto sans19:56
nairwolfoh, yes, I konw that the default is noto sans, but I'm looking to know what people prefers and what they use19:57
mrkrampsah ok … well, personally i just use the default font from the xubuntu default settings19:57
mrkrampswhich had been droid sans until it was replaced by noto now19:58
nairwolfoh, ok ;)19:58
nairwolfWhich version do you use ?19:58
mrkrampswhereas noto is based on droid fonts19:58
mrkramps14.0419:58
nairwolfok, I've changed recently, and I'm trying to configure my system19:58
mrkrampsbefore droid sans i was using dejavu sans iirc19:59
mrkrampsnairwolf, you could also have a look at roboto fonts … all three are or had been default fonts for android20:01
nairwolfok, thanks20:02
nairwolfI'm finding the render weird, so that's why I'm trying to configure my system...20:03
nairwolfI don't know why but the graphical appareance was better on 14.0420:03
mrkrampsnairwolf, maybe test different hinting options20:03
nairwolfoh, yes, I hadn't the default pixelissation order (I'm not sure for the perfect term in english)20:05
mrkrampsah, sub-pixel order20:05
nairwolfthat's right !20:05
mrkrampsthat's pretty vital20:06
nairwolfindeed ;) And do you know what is supposed to do the parameter "style of toolbar" in Appareance ?20:07
mrkrampsnairwolf, how toolbars in applications are shown20:08
mrkrampsjust start mousepad and test it20:08
nairwolfI don't see any changes so it's weird...20:08
nairwolfmaybe I don't really know what to look20:09
moomanApologies if this is on a FAQ somewhere... But I just installed 16.04 (as a VM in VirtualBox which could be related), and opened up the 'Software' app for adding packages, and everything in the app is blank.20:10
moomanKnown issue?  Or something with me running in a VM?20:10
mrkrampsnairwolf, ok … mousepad not working20:10
nairwolfmrkramps: indeed ;)20:10
nairwolfmooman: let me verify20:11
mooman(Net access works fine, Settings -> 'Software updater' works fine...  Just not the 'Software' app)20:11
moomanthanks nairwolf20:11
moomanI see lots of empty boxes with [ ... ] in each20:12

nairwolfBut I had the first line with ... also20:12
nairwolfJust click on it, and you'll see them20:12
nairwolfmaybe it's a bug, yes20:12

nairwolfAs you can see my screenshot, it works20:13
nairwolfExecutioner: What is that ?20:13

moomantab?20:17
nairwolfUse the key tab to get my name20:17
nairwolfautocompletion20:18
ondondilIMHO this new software app sucks20:18
nairwolfondondil: Tells that to Canonical20:18
ondondilIt doesn't even display apps that have no gui20:18
moomanah, didn't know this irc client had autocomplete.  Thought you meant there was a tab to get my Software tool working ;)20:18

nairwolfmooman: no, for Software tool, I don't know. It's a weird bug. I had the same thing but only with the first line. After clicking on this line, I've seen icons20:21
moomangonne go dork with permissions and see if that has something to do with it20:22
flocculantondondil: yup - no gui apps there as noted on release note20:23
flocculantpersonally I don't use it nor the old ubuntu software center - nothing to stop you doing the same :)20:23
mooman_Okay, I think I resolved this.  Appears to have been permission related..20:24
mooman_I made myself a full admin (it was set to 'Custom' before) and now I get software packages.20:25

nairwolfoh, numix is great as a theme for the window manager ;)20:33
nairwolfOn 14.04 it was possible to create a shortcuts in the window manager to move the window on the left (You know, it divides your screen in two and the window occupies the left side). Do you know if it's still possible ? I don't find the correct action21:01
mrkrampsnairwolf, Tile window to the DIRECTION21:07
nairwolfcan you tell me the action before this and after that ? French translations are sometimes weird....21:09
mrkrampsnairwolf, Move window to workspace 1221:09
mrkrampsand Show Desktop21:09

nairwolfthat's weird, I don't find it... I'm seeing show desktop and move window to workspace 12 but they aren't close...21:12
nairwolfok, I've found it !21:12
mrkrampsnairwolf, and between these tow there are all the functions to place windows21:12
nairwolfthe order is different on my system21:15
mrkrampsok21:15
slick_how does Kubuntu's channel have more users than us? I know for a fact XFCE has to have more users21:45
slick_Prolly because Konversation autojoins #kubuntu actually21:45
nairwolfoh, that's something called cheating ;)21:46
cmb_Struggling to get password-less login between machines on my local network working (via ssh; newly installed 16.04 on both machines). Followed my normal routine: ssh-keygen -t dsa (no passphrase); ssh-copy-id to the relevant machine. But no still getting prompted for a password by the remote machine after the newly generated key has been installed. See: http://paste.ubuntu.com/16071736/22:21
cmb_Ahhh, sorted my ssh/passwordless login problem. Just use RSA keys rather than DSA ones.22:25
