ricotzrtg, hey :)12:33
rtghmm ?12:33
ricotzrtg, there are a bunch of i915_bpo changes in 4.6.0-3.4 which needs to be reverted12:34
ricotzhttps://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/unstable/log/?qt=grep&q=UBUNTU%3A+SAUCE%3A+i915_bpo%3A12:34
rtgricotz, I've ripped out i915_bpo from unstable.12:34
ricotzotherwise this kernel won't work 12:34
ricotzrtg, not really12:35
ricotz"git grep i915_bpo" shows a lot of calls12:35
ricotzthe extern decls in include/drm/i915_drm_bpo.h are masking it12:36
rtgricotz, hang on a sec, I'm checking12:36
rtgricotz, indeed. guess I need to o a more thorough job12:38
rtgto do*12:38
ricotzremove the sauce ;)12:38
rtgyup. the laptop I booted on didn't have i915. 12:39
ricotzit even boots and runs here but is fundamentally borked12:39
rtgricotz, i915_bpo is really, really gone this time (I hope)14:00
ricotzrtg, heh14:07
ricotzrtg, better rebase-skip dm-raid4-5 too instead of applying and reverting it14:07
rtgricotz, I thought I'd leave it as a reminder. I need to consult smb about it14:08
ricotzrtg, I see, just saying there are bunch of similar applies/revert in the history which might not be worth the hassle 14:10
rtgricotz, IIRC dm-raid4-5 is pretty much isolated (unlike i915_bpo), but I'll check and make sure.14:11
smbrtg, thought that was already killed in last release... but maybe not. if my memory serves right there would be only very limited use for it. Intel fake raid is done my md(adm) which left only very limited chips that would be supported by dmraid with raid 4 or 514:12
ricotzrtg, ok14:13
rtgsmb, I think it still compiled in Xenial, but no longer does. 14:13
rtgI'll rip it out completely in Yakkety14:14
ricotzseems always good to reduce the diff to upstream ;) while carrying like 650 commits on top14:14
smbrtg, +1 from me 14:14
rtgricotz, once I get a working kernel I'll be compacting a lot of the history. there is a bunch of noise in the commit history that could go14:15
ricotzok14:17
ricotzrtg, I assume 4.6 is going to hit the archive soon then?14:18
rtgricotz, working on it. as soon as it passes some basic testing I'll get it promoted to Yakkety14:19
ricotztseliot, hi, graphics-drivers ppa contains a patched 364 for 4.6, maybe it applies against 361 too14:19
ricotzrtg, alright14:20
rtgricotz, oh, and I also have to make sure the DKMS drivers continue to at least compile14:20
rtgalways a PITA14:20
ricotzexactly ;)14:20
ricotznvidia-364 works fine here14:20
ricotzso 331, 340 and 361 needs a bit of work14:21
ricotzs/331/30414:22
jdstrandjsalisbury: ok, I'm finally back to helping with the bisect of bug #1547619. see comments 35 and 3614:28
ubot5bug 1547619 in linux (Ubuntu Xenial) "Intermittent screen blinking with 4k external mini display port with 4.4 kernels" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/154761914:28
jsalisburyjdstrand, ack, thanks14:28
tseliotricotz: I'll have a look at it, thanks!14:41

Odd_Blokehttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/Newsletter suggests that new SRU kernels will be landing today; I know there was some slippage recently, does this account for that?16:17
kamalOdd_Bloke, we ended up releasing Xenial on Friday (a few days early) -- I think the rest are on target to be released in the next day or two16:26
Odd_Blokekamal: Cool, thanks. :)16:27
