I know greyback started on it briefly. it'd be nice for staring other apps than from the launcher, and of course in general it's one of the two main problems I can see with Qt 5.6 still (other one being camera broken, which I've been unable to solve so far) [11:01] bug 1565763 in unity8 (Ubuntu) "Unity8 scopes squeezed on Qt 5.6" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1565763 [11:01] * greyback thought we had squashed that one [11:01] the vivid Qt 5.6 silo is functional at the moment, so it's easy to switch/test [11:01] oh, 5.6 [11:02] Mirv, oh, ok. didn't have it on my list. I can look at it, yes [11:02] mzanetti: I can take it on if you'd like. Landing qt5.6 sooner would make my dpr work easier [11:03] Mirv, about the other, with the stale lock files... I've installed that on my phone, but it's hard to tell if it fixes things or not... I haven't had a reliable way to reproduce the issue [11:03] mzanetti: ok, thanks [11:03] greyback, ok, sure [11:05] mzanetti: and ok... I guess it's too late for OTA-11 anyway now that final freeze is here === dandrader is now known as dandrader|afk === dandrader|afk is now known as dandrader [14:48] bregma: Saviq: Trying to run GTG (python+gtk app) in Unity 8 session I get the following error: SError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/home/mhall/.config/gtg/' [14:49] is that something I can fix without patching the GTG code? [14:49] using a libertine container for this, of course [14:49] ChrisTownsend, ↑ [14:51] mhall119: Could you give me the output of "ls -ls ~/.local/share/libertine-container/user-data/${container_id}" [14:51] mhall119: I'm not sure what your container_id is, but if you used the default, it would be xenial. [14:55] mhall119: wat are you using to test unity8, which package? Intel graphics? [14:55] ChrisTownsend: http://paste.ubuntu.com/16318761/ [14:56] davidcalle: unity8-desktop-session-mir, on xenial with stable-phone-overlay PPA (and Silo 53 currently) on intel graphics [14:56] mhall119: ty [14:56] mhall119: Hmm, that is problem. You are hitting https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libertine/+bug/1570961 [14:56] Ubuntu bug 1570961 in libertine (Ubuntu) "[lxc] Some directories in the user's mapped home has user 100000/100000 as the owner" [Medium,Triaged] [14:57] ChrisTownsend: sure enough, can I just chown them to mhall:mhall? [14:57] mhall119: Yep. [14:57] -R or no? [14:58] mhall119: Yeah, do the parent of that directory (the conainer_id one) and use -R. [14:59] ChrisTownsend: that worked [14:59] mhall119: I guess I need to prioritize that bug higher as this will affect pretty much everyone. [14:59] only GTG really needs multi-window, it's pretty useless without it :( [15:00] mhall119: Can't help you there:-( [15:00] also, still not seeing libertine app icons in the Launcher === dandrader is now known as dandrader|afk [15:52] mhall119: Re: icons in the Launcher, that just landed in the xenial overlay. [15:57] ChrisTownsend: thanks, will have to update and restart later === dandrader|afk is now known as dandrader [16:37] kgunn: Saviq: is there any way to take a screenshot of just one window in Unity8? alt+printscreen doesn't work [16:38] mhall119, not atm, no [16:38] ok, is that planned or should I file a bug for it? [16:39] mhall119, just added https://trello.com/c/EoUv4j6R/313-additional-screenshotting-options - do you know if there's a description somewhere of what shortcuts should do what? [16:42] Saviq: no, but I can probably find them [16:42] ChrisTownsend: GTG, which worked once, now doesn't work again with a different error: http://paste.ubuntu.com/16320540/ [16:42] mhall119, meh, probably easiest to just try them out :) [16:42] Saviq: all I ever used was normal printscreen and alt+printscreen [16:43] mhall119, ctrl makes it go to clipboard, shift lets you choose an area [16:44] mhall119: Umm, I have never seen that issue. Is /etc/sudoers owned by your user? [16:44] mhall119, hah, bug in u7 - if you release Alt quickly it will shoot the hud ;) [16:44] Saviq: ah, you know more then me then :) [16:44] Saviq: lots of bugs in unity7 if you do things too quickly [16:45] the worst is super+#, which will sometimes open the dash if you don't do it right [16:45] wonder if we can avoid them in u8 [16:46] well I haven't triggered that specific one in U8 yet [16:46] in fact, keyboard navigation in U8 seems all around much smoother, faster and more reliable [16:49] mhall119: Did you figure out the sudoers issue? [16:51] ChrisTownsend: not yet [16:51] /etc/sudoers is owned by root, so I'm guessing it's the libertine container wrapping it or something [16:53] mhall119: I really have no idea then. All you chown'd was ~/.local/share/libertine-container/user-data/xenial, right? [16:54] mhall119: Kind of sounds like the LXC's rootfs is chown'd to your user as well. [16:55] mhall119: You can also check ~/.cache/libertine-container/xenail/roots/ and work your way from there. UID 100000 on the host maps to UID 0 in the LXC. [17:00] ChrisTownsend: ah, yeah, when I chown'd earlier I set all of the rootfs to mhall:mhall [17:01] mhall119: Yeah, that's the problem then. You'll probably need to start over now. [17:01] mhall119: All you need to chown is the user-data directory. [17:02] greyback__, did you ever get this error when trying to run the latest qtmir+unity8 on a desktop? "android_dlopen called but not implemented!" [17:02] dandrader: Install silo 31. It's caused by libhybris in the overlay. [17:02] dandrader: not I, but I did hear of the mir team complaining of that [17:03] ok, thanks [17:03] dandrader: But the root of it is that U8 really shouldn't be touching Lights on the desktop. === dandrader is now known as dandrader|afk === dandrader|afk is now known as dandrader
