happyaronseb128: network broken since last night... now on 4G connection...05:42
happyaronthe operator is sending someone to fix it05:42
seb128hey happyaron, ok, good luck with that!05:43
seb128happyaron, it means you couldn't work on the nm updates/get them ready? or are you doing that on your mobile internet?06:15
happyaronseb128: doing now, was expecting they get my internet fix in the morning, but appears to be something a bit complex to fix so I gave up to wait06:17
seb128k06:17
mptcharles, tiheum: I noticed that the (pastebinned) indicator-power code doesn’t use the “generic box” icons I suggested for unknown charging devices. It would be a lot easier to put lightning+level in a plain rectangle shape, most phones nowadays are pretty much rectangles anyway, and that would prevent the unknown icon from showing up in future for anything that wasn’t a battery or phone.07:01
willcookehey ho07:47
duflulet's go07:48
dufluWhich I think is the opening line to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWZu6NWJkHw07:48
dufluNope, it's "let go"07:49
willcooke:)07:56
happyaronfinally back online07:57
willcookehey happyaron, what happened?07:58
happyaronwillcooke: lost connectivity last night07:59
willcookeouch07:59
willcookehappyaron, good job you got that 3G modem ;))07:59
happyaronyep, :)08:00
seb128hey willcooke! pre-emptive hey to Laney who should be there in a few minutes ;-)08:00
willcookemorning seb12808:00
willcookeseb128, I'm trying to snap a Qt app.08:01
willcookethat I know very little about.08:01
willcookeWell, I know how to use it08:01
willcookebut not how to build it08:01
willcookeso job #1 - try and build it normally08:01
willcookeand find out what the deps are08:01
seb128willcooke, that's dedication from Aron, he damaged his dsl line to force test nm on 3g ;-)08:01
willcookeseb128, :D08:02
seb128willcooke, good luck with the snap!08:02
seb128you are building from source then, not from the deb?08:02
happyaronhaha08:02
willcookeseb128, yeah08:02
seb128Laney, happy friday!08:03
seb128(9:03, /me takes a guess Laney is turning IRC on ;-)08:03
LaneyI was thinking about trolling you and staying quiet08:04
willcookeBOOM!08:04
Laneyonly managed to do it for 2 minutes08:04
seb128lol08:04
seb128scnr ;-)08:04
seb128how are you?08:04
seb128how was the micro pub?08:05
happyaronlooks debian dropped the dependency for nm-openconnect deliberately  https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/network-manager-openconnect.git/commit/?id=68f776799a52ff74b5dfd27b85288061b24cfeb608:06
happyaronseb128: ^^08:06
seb128happyaron, yeah, it's fine for y, but SRU should have the minimal required changeset to fix the issue08:06
seb128so cleanup should stay out of it08:06
seb128or if you include some such changes they should at least be documented in the changelog08:06
seb128otherwise the SRU team has no way to know it's intentional08:07
LaneyI'm good, we went to a call vegetarian restaurant before going to the pub which was nice08:07
happyaronok08:07
Laneyhome made ice cream and pie for dessert :308:07
happyaronic08:07
Laneythe pub had a man playing really loud guitar and singing08:07
Laneywas better after he stopped08:07
seb128was he good at least?08:08
Laneythink it was the owner of the pub so that explains why he got the slot ;-)08:08
seb128we went out for dinner yesterday to an italian restaurant08:08
seb128was nice until they decided to push the music volume at 9pm08:08
seb128I had when places do that08:09
Laneybah08:09
seb128had->hate08:09
Laneytrying to make you leave?08:09
seb128I don't know why they do it08:09
seb128making a more evening/party atmosphere maybe08:09
seb128or maybe don't want people to stay over too long08:09
seb128but it's annoying08:09
Laneyyeah :(08:10
Laneyat least you know this place does this now for the future08:10
seb128right08:11
seb128the food was good but the staff not the nice08:11
seb128I'm not sure they are going to see us again...08:11
Laneyconsumer power!08:18
seb128:-)08:18
willcookeseb128, don't think you saw last night:  http://imgur.com/a/jACV708:22
seb128willcooke, I did, just read backlog before closing IRC so didn't comment, thanks for testing!08:22
willcookeseb128, yw!  Thanks for getting a fix arranged so quickly08:23
seb128yw08:23
seb128the menu alignment thing is a bit unfortunate08:23
seb128but it's still better than the missing icon08:23
willcookeyeah08:23
willcookeoh, btw, did we get anywhere with software-updater popping up?08:23
willcookes/we/you ;)08:24
seb128willcooke, I put a merge request up yesterday, waiting on review from mvo or somebody else feeling like commenting08:24
willcookenice one, thanks08:24
seb128willcooke, https://code.launchpad.net/~seb128/update-notifier/logs-no-ctime/+merge/29580608:24
seb128willcooke, I think I managed to get on top of my bugs/SRU queue so today I can really do snap&MIR work08:25
willcookeseb128, \m/ awesome08:26
seb128well saying that but I'm doing a round of SRU-from-proposed install atm08:26
seb128just to help verifying some08:26
seb128we have libreoffice/glib/gvfs there to test08:26
willcookeseb128, I started with a qt app because there is a cmake plugin for snapcraft which might make things easier, plus I'm using mhall119 's krita yaml to help me08:26
willcookeand there is a nice qt5 launcher script that puts all the hacks in one place08:27
seb128good08:27
seb128it's also useful to test several toolkits08:27
willcookeseb128, I've looked at the diff and the full update.c file and I think it's correct - is there any value in me adding a comment / review?08:32
seb128willcooke, yes, we still want mvo/somebody who maintains it to ack if possible, but if they have no cycle for that we might just go with what we have ;-)08:33
seb128still good to have some sanity check08:33
desrtyawn08:34
willcookehey desrt, early start today08:34
willcookewait, late finish perhaps08:34
desrtmore like failed all nighter :p08:34
willcookeheh08:34
desrttrying to relive the glory of the good old days.... not so easy past 3008:35
desrtpath munging is looking good tho08:35
willcookenice on!08:35
willcookee08:35
desrtgonna go take a *cough* "nap"08:35
willcookegood plan, catch you (much) later08:36
willcookeno more coffee08:36
desrtgood morning :D08:36
seb128desrt, good "night"? ;-)08:37
willcookeseb128, what does "review type" mean in LP?08:40
seb128willcooke, it's optional but it to hint what sort of review you did, typical use is to write "design"08:42
seb128or "packaging"08:42
seb128if you reviewed only the UI or the packaging changes08:42
willcookethx08:42
seb128yw!08:42
seb128happyaron, got your email, I'm looking to it, thanks ;-)09:34
seb128lunch first in fact09:49

Sweet5harkhttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapcraft <- does this look broken/incomplete for others? Im missing half the UI there ...12:01
Sweet5hark... just seeing some icons12:01
seb128Sweet5hark, wfm12:01
seb128do other launchpad pages work for you?12:02
Sweet5harkseb128: nope, same. just a few icons sprinkled over the screen ...12:03
seb128restart your browser?12:04
Sweet5harkseb128: heh, that helped. ;)12:06

seb128blame qengho or chrisccoulson, depending of your browser of choice!12:07
chrisccoulsonnot my fault ;)12:08
chrisccoulsonI haven't even used firefox for ages12:08
seb128hey chrisccoulson! how are you?12:08
chrisccoulsonseb128, yeah, not too bad thanks. And you?12:08
seb128I'm good thanks!12:08
seb128it's friday ;-)12:09
chrisccoulsonfry-day :)12:09
seb128lol12:09
seb128chrisccoulson, btw did you see my question about firefox/mimetype so weeks ago on #ubuntu-devel?12:09
ogra_yummy12:09
seb128just curious if you knew offhand12:09
seb128not looking for you to debug it don't worry :-)12:10
chrisccoulsonseb128, I don't know offhand, although I could probably figure it out if I spent some time looking at it12:10
seb128don't bother, it's probably just me being annoyed12:11
seb128ideally launchpad would fix their mimetype info12:11
seb128it's just weird that the open dialog has the right mimetype as a label12:12
seb128but uses the handler from the wrong one12:12
seb128which is the one sent by the server it seems12:12
seb128but it's nothing new12:12
seb128just annoying to not be able to open .xz from launchpad directly12:12
seb128need to save them and open from nautilus12:12
* Sweet5hark blames chrisccoulson anyway.12:14
Sweet5harkIts Friday after all!12:15
chrisccoulsonheh12:15
* willcooke debugging broken .pro files. yay12:20
willcookefood time12:20
seb128willcooke, enjoy12:23
mhall119willcooke: just don't take my example as a gold standard, I'm still learning as I go :)12:37
willcookemhall119, yours got me started, thank you very much12:43
willcookemhall119, but now I'm fighting ftbfs12:43
willcookeand hardcoded paths in pro files12:43
willcookeO_o12:44
mhall119fun12:44
mhall119I was at least lucky that my targets all had good build configs that "just work"12:45
willcookethis one is a mess12:46
willcookebut hey, it's all good learning12:46
=== mterry_ is now known as mterry
qenghoWow, got my first launchpad bug-report spam.13:07
seb128hey qengho, happy friday!13:07
seb128those are not that common which is good13:08
qenghoIf you guys need a packer and mover in Hyderabad, I can tell you who is too rude to choose. Just sayin'.13:08
willcooke:D:D13:15
seb128happyaron, still around?13:33
andyrockhey guys14:03
seb128hey andyrock! how are you?14:07
andyrockhey seb128 finally finished most of the university things till september14:07
seb128nice!14:07
andyrockthis month has been the worst of my life :D14:07
andyrockand you?14:07
seb128I'm doing well thanks!14:09
seb128having fun debugging snaps and fcitx14:09
ricotzhey desktopers!14:19
ricotzSweet5hark, so?14:19
seb128hey ricotz!14:21
ricotzseb128, hey14:23
charlesmpt, are the "generic box" icons already in the ubuntu icon set?14:29
happyaronseb128: back from swimming pool14:29
happyaronwhat's up?14:29
seb128happyaron, do you know how fcitx applications talk to the service? I'm trying to figure out why fcitx doesn't work in confined snaps14:35
seb128I copied .config/fcitx over14:35
seb128and there is no apparmor deny14:35
seb128it works in --devmode14:35
happyaronseb128: what do you mean by fcitx applications?14:35
seb128sorry gtk apps through the fcitx immodule14:35
seb128e.g gedit14:35
seb128with sunpinyn im configure14:36
seb128it works fine on my session and in --devmode snap14:36
seb128just not when confined14:36
seb128I'm trying to figure out what part needs to be open14:36
happyarongtk im modules + dbus14:36
seb128k, I guess it's dbus being the issue14:36
seb128just weird that I don't see that in apparmor denies14:36
seb128does it use a private bus?14:37
happyaronit uses a private dbus14:37
happyaronyep14:37
seb128the one defined in .config/fcitx/dbus?14:37
happyaronshould be one of them in that path14:37
happyaronI have 12 files after running for 8 days, but only one of them is active14:38
seb128k, I've only one14:38
happyaronand for communications among some components, it uses a protocol wrapped using sockets (but not dbus unfortunately)14:39
happyaronthat's used by stuff like fcitx-ui-qimpanel to communicate with the daemon14:40
seb128what is weird is that it works in devmode without .config/fcitx14:40
seb128so I guess it doesn't need that to find the private bus14:40
happyaronit will start a new one if the previous does not work14:40
seb128or doesn't need to private bus to display the gtk UI with the suggestions14:40
happyaronI don't think there's a gtk ui14:41
seb128well there is a popover with the suggestions14:41
seb128unsure what is providing it14:41
seb128but it's there in --devmode14:41
happyaronk14:41
seb128happyaron, thanks for the replies14:41
happyaron;-)14:41
seb128happyaron, enjoy your friday evening and w.e!14:41
happyaronsame!14:42
seb128sorry to bother you with my questions on a friday night14:42
seb128thanks!14:42
happyaronhaha np14:42
mptcharles, sorry, I have no idea14:49
mptAsk tiheum or larapinto when they’re back14:49
ricotzSweet5hark, ping15:34
seb128ricotz, you might just ask your question15:39
ricotzseb128, he knows the question15:39
seb128well others don't and might be able to help you15:39
ricotzseb128, it's about libreoffice 5.215:46
seb128ah15:46
seb128that's not a priority atm15:46
seb128lts work + snap15:46
seb128I think that's not going to be uploaded before a while15:46
ricotzseb128, I talked to him yesterday and have prepared a testing package, but he asked me the hold it back in favour of his upload15:48
willcookeyes, please hold of a little while until we can get the snap tidied up15:48
willcookericotz, let's have a sync up on this next week, if you can spare 10 mins?15:49
ricotzthis is not a snap package15:49
ricotzsimply a plain package for the pre-release ppa15:49
ricotznot the archive or whatever15:49
willcookeindeed, but we would like to get people on board with the snap package as a better way of getting 5.215:50
ricotzso why is there no communication about it in my direction?15:51
willcookehence the sync up next week15:51
ricotzI asked him several times yesterday15:51
willcookehe's been super busy, sorry15:51
ricotzthis lack of communication is quite annoying then15:52
ricotzwould have been a single statement to his yesterdays response15:53
seb128it's easy to do when you have an established plan you are in charge of15:54
seb128less so when you have been asked to do things in a way and so requirements are not well defined yet/changing15:55
seb128don't be harsh with him, he's just in the middle of changes of plans and try to keep everybody happy15:55
ricotzseb128, I see15:59
willcookericotz, let's you me and Sweet5hark find a few mins next week to have a quick sync up on snaps etc16:01
ricotzwillcooke, any logs about current decisions or plans?16:02
willcookericotz, dont think so - we're still working out a plan.  So you can have input16:03
ricotzwillcooke, hmm, ok16:07
seb128willcooke, want some fun?16:23

willcookebut.... next week, I will make a start on that list16:25
willcookeand try to have it done by EOW16:25
seb128:-)16:27
seb128willcooke, shorter list, no recommends (we can start without those) + removed the ones that were in main and got demoted, http://paste.ubuntu.com/16735785/16:31
seb128that's 6016:31
seb128still quite some work16:31
seb128willcooke, imho we should put in an etherpad and dispatch a bit, also got in order16:32
seb128like start from leaf ones16:32
seb128brb, session restart without fctix, it's behaving weird16:36
Laneynight!17:04
seb128night Laney!17:05
seb128have a good w.e17:05
Sarvatthmm, volume up/down keys stopped repeating on my thinkpad after the latest unity/compiz updates17:40
seb128there is a fix to prevent those bouncing17:42
seb128so you can't DoS the system by sitting on the screenshot key17:42
seb128worth reporting a regression if that's impacting normal use17:42
seb128Trevinho, andyrock, willcooke, ^17:42
willcookeworks here, so might not be the same thing17:42
Sarvattwillcooke: restarted the session yet after updating? I only noticed after a reboot17:44
willcookeSarvatt, oh, could be.  Will try once this build is done17:44
Sarvattoh what the heck, forgot to disable proposed after verifying another SRU, no wonder. should I mention it on the existing bug or file a new one?17:48
