[01:50] hello [04:43] hi all. i am facing the same issue http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2323320 running xubuntu 16.04 with a clean installation. My settings are too: Automatically check for updates: Daily, When there are security updates: Display immediately, When there are other updates: Display immediately. [09:38] okay, im really out of my depth [09:39] im using a macbook pro 7,1 and the wifi only works with the b43 reverse engineered driver [09:39] which gives me an average ping time of 250 ms [09:39] the proprietary driver worked until this morning [09:40] i have not had a kernel upgrade as far as i know, i set it on suspend last night and woke it up to find this issue [09:40] ??? [09:41] Did you try restarting network-manager? (sudo service network-manager restart) [09:41] yep [09:42] did nothing [09:42] Thought there was a current issue with suspending and NM, hm. [09:43] never affected me for some reason [09:43] unless thats the issue now i guess [09:43] What version of Xubuntu? [09:43] 16.04 [10:02] hello? [10:17] anyone here? [10:21] dont crosspost megaminxwin2 [10:21] and be patient [10:21] Hey guys when i try to install software from the software-center nothing happens. installing by command line works fine [10:21] Any idea why this is happening? [10:21] sorry, its just that its been 12 hours since i first asked [10:21] i feel ive been pretty patient [10:22] try askubuntu and ubuntu forums then [10:22] megaminxwin2, for one, its the weekend [10:22] megaminxwin2, secondly racing to get an answer wont speed the process [10:23] i have never once had a response from those places in the past, and ive posted a few times there [10:23] sorry im just [10:23] irritated [10:28] Do I need to set some privileges for installing software? ( although i am root) [10:40] and now the b43 drivers arent working === user__ is now known as akis [11:50] hi all. i am faceing the same issue under the same updater settings http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2323320. Any idea or help? [15:08] Hi everyone. Is there a 12.04.5 version of Xubuntu? Or is 12.04.4 the last one? [15:10] xubuntu 12.04 is EOL since last april [15:11] I know. But it's about the last Xubuntu that will run decently on my 1215 Eee PC. [15:11] to explicitly answer your question, being EOL means no more releases either :) [15:12] But 12.04 will still work ofcourse. But no security updates etc? [15:12] well, you will get the non-xubuntu-specific updates for 5 years [15:12] EOL = End Of Life [15:13] I'm installing a 'dead' OS :D [15:13] but no xubuntu-specific packages are being updated, nor bugs in them fixed [15:13] Well, thats good enough for me ;) [15:13] it's your computer, your choice and your own risk ;) [15:14] It won't run otherwise [15:14] It's the only option I got I'm afraid. Recent Xubuntu releases have become too heavy for that little machine. [15:15] or you can try another distro ;) [15:16] I was thinking of Lubuntu but I'm not sure taht would be any lighter than Xubuntu [15:16] it shares the same ubuntu core, so while it's lighter, not sure if it's light enough [15:16] I also tried plain Debian. But it's too heavy too [15:16] that said, there are things outside the ubuntu land [15:18] I know [15:19] Do you have any idea what is the cause of the 'heaviness' Is it the kernel or stuff that is installed along with it? [15:20] it's a combination of many things [15:20] Not something I could 'fix' by uninstalling/disabling some packages or something? [15:20] not really [15:21] I could make it a commandline only thing. [15:21] it would still be running the ubuntu core, and at that point, other options would totally be better for the usecase [15:26] bbl === dreamon_ is now known as dreamon [15:58] hello, is someone can help me with my wifi configuration (in french it is possible) [15:58] ?
