robinherohey guys, I've just found this under OTA-11 release notes: "Fusion provider for improved positioning in location service" Can somebody explain this for me? What does this mean? What are fusion providers? Thanks11:49
ogra_robinhero, perhaps tvoss could add a bit more info to the draft release notes11:50
tvossrobinhero, the fusion provider mangles together location information from network-based and satellite-based providers11:51
Acou_BassWireless display support (aethercast) - Meizu Pro 5 only currently11:53
Acou_Bassawww :P11:53
Acou_Bassthata is a beast of a feature though11:53
robinherotvoss, so in OTA-10.1 the location service only uses one of these methods, right? If yes, which one?11:53
tvossrobinhero, it uses both providers in ota 10.1, too11:53
tvossrobinhero, ota 11 features an adjusted fusioning engine, though11:54
tvossrobinhero, also: both network- and satellite-based providers have been used since the very first release :)11:55
robinherotvoss, OK, thanks for the explanation :)11:56
tvossrobinhero, the new feature is that we are adding some filtering on top of the incoming updates prior to sending them to clients11:56
jsmith2195Hi does anyone have a link to the .IMG files for meizu pro 5 code name turbo11:57
davmor2jsmith2195: if you have a Meizu pro5 that isn't an ubuntu one the likelihood is it is amazingly locked down and you won't be able to flash it if that was your plan.  Just as a heads up11:59
jsmith2195It's ok I have a model which is unlocked if you go to XDA anyone can unlock bootloader as meizu put all the code on github12:00
jsmith2195So does anyone have a link to the files I can't find them on Ubuntu website12:04
davmor2jsmith2195: should be on the device link in topic hang on12:05
davmor2jsmith2195: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices12:06
robinheroWhat's the ETA for OTA-11? Is this bug a blocker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/158736612:08
ubot5Launchpad bug 1587366 in Canonical System Image "On cooler devices, BT sometimes cannot be enabled" [Critical,New]12:08

jsmith2195Hi do you not have a link to the IMG files as the link you gave does not have files12:18
ogra_morphis, is there any way to convince my miracast adapters to actually use 1080p ?12:18
galautest12:19
ogra_jsmith2195, ubuntu doesnt use img files, in fact we explicitly do not touch the partitioning on the device (there are boot.img and recovery.img, but thats it) ... ubuntu-device-flash unpacks tarballs on the factory partitions which have to be the right size set by the factory when they prepared the ubuntu install12:22
ogra_jsmith2195, so if you ever want to flash a non ubuntu pro5 you will need whatever tool is used in the factory to do the initial partitioning ... if thats in place you can just ubse ubuntu-device-flash as described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices (like davmor2 said already)12:24
morphisogra_: yes but you have adjust the aethercast source12:32
morphisogra_: we're forcing 720p for now as that is what we get the best performance with12:32
morphisogra_: even MS claims they can only do 720p in a reasonable performance over miracast12:33
ogra_morphis, ah, thanks12:34

mardydobey: in QML files, do you prefer to have javscript lines terminated by ";", or do you prefer without it?12:56
crs_does ubuntu touch use the fancy laser focusing thing on the pro5's camera?13:21
ccexcute me13:21
cchow can i use wechat on ubuntu phone?13:22
ogra_cc, try "kiwi IRC" or "Chatter" from the store13:29
dobeymardy: what are you doing?13:35
mardydobey: scared? ;-)13:36
mardydobey: checking how hard it would be to make the U1 account plugin directly talk to OA -- it's coming along nicely :-)13:36
dobeymardy: a bit. i don't want us to get side tracked into dealing with other bugs, before getting the immediate concerns resolved13:37
mardydobey: that's ok, we can leave it for later13:39
mardydobey: you remember you asked me in an inline comment in the first revision of https://code.launchpad.net/~mardy/ubuntuone-credentials/signon-plugin-part2/+merge/293217 why I'm calling Keyring::storeSecret()13:45
mardydobey: I replied to that inline comment, saying that we cannot easily get rid of that13:48
mardydobey: but we could, if we rework the account plugin to directly speak to OA13:49
mardydobey: anyway, I'm doing that while I wait for your feedback on the other MPs, so it's not a waste of time13:50
dobeymardy: remember when i said in another MP that we've been using the account object created by online accounts and passed to the qml for quite some time now? we are, and if there are issues there, they are separate bugs/issues13:54
dobeymardy: yesterday was a national holiday here, so i was off.13:55
tnozyrox 13:55
mardydobey: that's fine14:01

chip_hello i have a parse erroe when i try to install dualboot installer apk someone know how to fix?18:41
dobeyyou're trying to install an apk in ubuntu?18:43
chip_dobey, no i try to install ubuntu touch from android apk18:54
dobeyoh, well we don't really support any dual booting sort of configs. what device are you trying to do this on?18:56
chip_i dont need dualboot juste install ubuntu touch but i dont know how to do18:57
chip_the zip flashable files dont work18:58
chip_my device is a wiko18:58
dobeyis there a port for that device?18:59
dobey!devices | chip_19:00
ubot5chip_: You can find the full list of devices, official images, community images, and works in progress at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices19:00
dobeyi don't see "wikio" there19:00
chip_i dont think so but must have a generique boot.img and system ??!19:01
dobeyno19:01
dobeyimages are device specific19:01
chip_for the chipset drivers or arm cpu?19:02
dobeyfor drivers, becasue phones are generally all proprietary drivers, and they all have different bootloader and partitioning configurations19:04
chip_i dont need the proprietary drivers juste de simple kernel for the bootloader i try to write saucy boot.img file to the boot partitions but when i start the phone restart continually19:07
dobeyi don't know where you got that, but like i said. you can't boot an arbitrary boot.img that was built for another device19:09
dobeyyou are going to have to port ubuntu to your device if you want to run ubuntu on it19:09
chip_what you call porting?19:14
popeymaking a kernel for that device19:14
dobeychip_: see "Porting" in the topic19:15
dobeyyou need to get the android tree for your device, add the ubuntu patches, and build the images19:15
chip_ok dont have a entire how to with no fastboot, because my phone have juste adb19:23
chip_?19:23
dobeyif you can't unlock the bootloader, and don't have the android tree with drivers, then you can't port to that device19:29
chip_if i have the recovery CWM is not possible too?19:31
dobeywell, do you have the android tree for your device, so you can build a kernel with the drivers?19:32
dobeyif you don't have the android tree, there's no need worrying about things like fastboot19:32
chip_you talk about android source three?19:43
dobeythe android tree specific to your device, yes19:43
JanCin theory, the company that sold you the phone should have offered you that  :)19:46
JanCwell, at least the kernel part19:46
moritz31someone with xperia experience here ?19:47
cyphermoxis there a way to just add a link to a web page in the Touch dashboard?20:37
cyphermox(I mean on the device's main screen)20:37
dobeydifferen devices have different "main" screens20:39
chip_dobey, i find the sources three ,i just need to apply a patch ?where is this patch ?  quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip is not generique for all arm phones?20:39
dobeychip_: quantal is extremely old and unsupported, and that's just the rootfs20:39
dobeychip_: i'm not sure what patches are needed exactly. it depends on what kernel your device has i guess20:40
chip_yes have too the boot img20:40
chip_3 files20:40
cyphermoxdobey: I would disagree. They're all using unity8 and whatever the app list thing is called, along with other scopes, but it's irrelevant.20:46
dobeycyphermox: well, the apps scope is not the home screen on all devices20:48
chip_dont have yakkety zip cwm flashable files to download?20:49
cyphermoxI don't really care so much which screen it's on, as long as it's somewhere.20:49
dobeycyphermox: why do you want a link to a web page there anyway?20:50
dobeychip_: no, you should use ubuntu-touch/vivid-preinstalled-armhf.tar.gz or whatever, the same as all the supported devices do20:51
cyphermoxI'm just relaying a question from a friend; and tbh the why is not so useful to answer how to do it, or "it's not possible" assuming there is no way to do it.20:51
chip_how to you install your file20:53
chip_do you20:53
dobeycyphermox: well, the why is useful if you want a useful answer. is the goal to make a webapp? trying to expose bookmarks from a browser as apps in the apps scope? what?20:55
cyphermoxdobey: the goal is to have a link to a webpage somewhere someone can reach without having to search through the system too much to reach it20:59
cyphermoxif it has to be a webapp, that's an answer; if there's another way, that's fine too21:00
