[00:11] Hey all, my 16.04 update stumbled, and I'm trying to repair. Is the default display manager these days lightdm or sddm? [00:12] EvanEdwards: SDDM. [00:15] krytarik: Thanks! I guessed right. === sheedy-away is now known as sheedy === sheedy is now known as sheedy-away === Mrokii_ is now known as Mrokii === Tazer is now known as Tazerbot [02:40] hi all [02:41] been looking on forums for a possible fix for kubuntu wiping widget settings on boot [02:41] cant seem to find anything that works for m,e [02:42] any help would be greatly appreciated [02:42] its more then likely something really simple [03:28] * Zren takes this opportunity to backup ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc [06:07] Hello. I have a problem with Kubuntu 16.04, installed on a laptop. I tried configuring my wlan but my wlan-key isn't accepted (the laptop doesn't connect to the wlan). In my routers' config-window, the laptop is visible as not connected). Any ideas? [06:12] Mrokii: but you can see the SSID? [06:13] Mrokii: what chipset/driver is it? "lspci -k" [07:27] hateball: I found the solution. KWallet had asked me for a password even though I had never set one and my user-password didn't work. This had happened the first time I installed KDE as well, kind of weird. But after resetting the password I could actually enter my wlan-pw successfully. [07:28] Mrokii: :) [07:33] Okay... while I'm in the process of configuring plasma... Is there an up-to-date instruction to synchronise KOrganizer with google calendar? I only found quite old info that doesn't seem to help. [07:34] *sigh* As usual, as soon as I asked the question I found the solution, despite having looked for it before. [07:37] Mrokii: :D [07:37] Mrokii: That's how therapy works [07:41] But I must say I'm quite impressed with all the configuration-possibilities in KDE and built-in functionality, compared to Ubuntu/Unity. Guess I'll be switching to it on my main computer as well in the near future. [07:59] Mrokii: Yea there's very few things you cannot tweak to your liking. Which is overwhelming for some [08:03] For some maybe, but I grew more and more frustrated with less and less configuring-options in Ubuntu. As I like to tweak a system as much as possible, Kubuntu seems to suit me far better than Ubuntu/Unity. [08:04] I like to be *able* to if needed [08:08] Exactly. === Mrokii_ is now known as Mrokii [08:32] Can somebody explain the difference between the "regular" Kubuntu edition and the "KDE Neon User Edition"? They' ve saying that cannonical will drop support on kubuntu. Is it really happening? [14:26] afaik they already dropped support [14:26] That is sooo sad. So much for open software... [14:26] and some of the core Kubuntu developers left to other projects like KDE neon [14:27] This is just my own expierience, as a k/ubuntu user since 8.04 [14:29] I was just looking at their page regarding 16.04 and they are still talking about basic stuff like browsing files, images and office files... Seems like kubuntu has been abandoned for good. [14:30] it isnt abandoned, but not in a good shape right now [14:30] Yep, i meant exactly that [14:35] Somebody here who knows how to turn off autobrightness?
