strixdioHey guys, I've been looking to replace google voice, specifically texting and voip, and I'm trying to be a bit more privacy-minded. I don't really see anything other than *maybe* skype that could be a replacement, specifically compatible with ubuntu-touch. Have I maybe missed something?01:27
strixdio(note: I'd rather not use skype due to M$)01:27

dobeycc: install the Doc Viewer app, and it should find it if you put it in your Documents or Downlaods folder I think. or install the File Manager app from the store, and you can browse to it and open it in Doc Viewer from there02:07
dobeystrixdio: i think you missed the part where you said "privacy minded" if you're considering skype :)02:07
strixdiodobey: oh no, I'm not considering it. I only mentioned it because it was the only "worthy" alternative as far as capability.02:14
dobeywell, i don't know what random services exist that would fulfill your needs there, or what your needs necessarily are, but as far as video/voice chat goes, any webrtc based platform should work with the browser on the phone; assuming said platform doesn't break the world with awful user-agent checking or just bad design that doesn't work on mobile devices02:16
ccdobey: it's ok now,thanks a lot02:36

faenilwhere is the setting to Allow USB debugging? (adb, basically)09:09
ogra_under "about this device"09:10
faenilogra_: not developer mode, the security permission09:12
faenil"Allow usb debugging from XX:XX:XX:XX"09:13
ogra_i dont think there is anything special09:13
ogra_do you want to revoke it ?09:13
faenilno, I want to *allow it*09:13
faeniland it seems whoever connected this device first revoked it09:13
ogra_it pops up when you connect the device09:13
faenilit doesn't at the moment09:14
ogra_make sure it is unlocked though09:14
faenilbut adb devices reports "unauthorized"09:14
ogra_ondra, ^^^ your bug then :)09:14
ogra_faenil, did you try running the adb server under sudo on the PC ?09:14
ogra_probably just a local permission issue09:15
ogra_(or missing udev rule)09:15
faenilthat's never been needed, but I'll try09:15
faenilnothing ogra_09:16
ogra_well, was worth a try09:17
faenilyeah :)09:17
faenilso, if one revokes the adb permission the first time then there's no way to change it back? :D09:18
faenilat least not from UI it seems09:18
ogra_seemingly ... ondra would know i guess ... i think he implemented that09:19
faenilupdating from r116 to r124 now, let's see if that makes a diff09:25

ondrafaenil reading11:02
ondraogra_ faenil no issue is on device side, if you can see device as unauthorised then your udev permission on host are fine11:02
ogra_yeah, obviously11:03
ogra_i think we should also have a UI to revoke permissions11:03
ondrafaenil what channel is this? I tested devel yesterday and that was broken in many ways there11:03
ondraogra_ yeah we should, but find somebody to implement it :)11:03
ogra_well, you got a big team of phone developers, i'm sure someone will be found :P11:04
ondraogra_ it's as simple as deleting one file, if we accept you can only revoke all11:04
ondraogra_ :P11:04
ondraogra_ and to be fair, probably about 2h job including QA if you know where to touch it11:05

faenilondra: rc-proposed r116, then I updated to r124 (and that implies a reboot) and the popup appeared...so I don't know12:24
faenilondra: M10 ^12:24
htr_anyone can help me to install ubuntu touch on my sony xperia m dual12:48
ondrafaenil there could be two reasons, either adbd crashed, but then you will see it as offline not as unauthorised, next component is adb indicator not responding to adbd talking to it over the socket13:26
ondrafaenil so if you can find any logs or crashes related to indicator I guess13:26
faenilondra: ok, I'll have a quick look13:28
faenilapplication-click-owncloud-sync_Owncloud-Sync_0.1.5.log13:29

dobeymardy: hey, since sqlite apparently can't show the data stored for the token, is there any easy way i can visualize what's actually there, without having to write a bunch of qt c++ code?13:38
ogra_hmpf ... seems the thumbnailer is screwed up in rc-proposed today13:39
ogra_(or the gallery ... i only get placeholder icons in the gallery)13:39
dobeyogra_: ooh. check the gallery-app log in .cache/upstart/ and see if it's complaining about apparmor denials13:40
ogra_i can see the images fine if i tap them btw13:41
ogra_funny ... no gallery logs in there13:42
mptjgdx, tvoss: I updated the Fingerprint ID design. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityAndPrivacySettings?action=diff&rev2=80&rev1=79>13:46
dobeyogra_: that's the same behavior we've had on nexus 5 and opo for a long time.13:48
ogra_well, it definitely worked last week13:50
ogra_and this is a retail device13:50
dobeyyeah i know it's a retail device.13:50

dobeyweird13:51
ogra_ls -l .cache/upstart/*gallery* returns "file not found" ... and a find seraching with -name does the same13:51
dobeyogra_: 2.9.1.1322 instead?13:51
dobeyweird13:52
dobeyi see there is a gallery app update13:52

dobeyogra_: thumbnails work on my nexus4 with latest rc-proposed (just updated an hour ago), and 1317 gallery app. weird13:53
ogra_nope, still black placeholder images13:54
dobeymardy: can you review https://code.launchpad.net/~dobey/ubuntuone-credentials/signon-plugin-part2/+merge/296716 please? let me know if i did anything obviously stupid (aside from removing the UI responses, i'm aware i might need to add that back)13:54
dobeyor at least, maybe partially13:55
mardydobey: OK. Did you already try it?13:55
* ogra_ reboots phone ... lets see 13:55
dobeymardy: yeah, i'm able to log in from system settings, and the token appears to be stored. i got a push notification this morning for the system update too, so that's good :)13:55
mardydobey: excellent!13:56
dobeymardy: i'm trying to test it more now on staging. i think there might be some rough spots still, but trying to work out what all they might be13:56

Eadrom381|X250http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_3-7995.php14:53
Eadrom381|X250we know if this is going to support 4G LTE speeds in the US?14:53
Eadrom381|X250w/ UT14:53
Eadrom381|X250when support for UT on that device launches14:53
dobeyEadrom381|X250: the version which has the US bands should work, yes14:56
dobeyEadrom381|X250: https://oneplus.net/3/specs suggests there are three different models. if you want US support, you need the North America model14:57
Eadrom381|X250dobey, niiiiiiiiiiice.  This could be the phone that's nice enough that I can ditch my iphone and forget apple exists.  I wish it had more storage or an SD card slot, but the rest of those specs are really, really nice14:58
dobeyEadrom381|X250: i've been using ubuntu pretty much exclusiviely for 2 years on a nexus 5, fwiw14:58
Eadrom381|X250dobey, I have it on a nexus 4 I bought to test out the platform and it's worked quite nicely there.  now I'm waiting for a flagship spec'ed phone that I can get UT on14:59
Eadrom381|X250and I can def make 64GB work for me :P15:00
dobeyEadrom381|X250: i'm sure you could plug in an SD card or anything else using the usb otg :)15:00
dobeyEadrom381|X250: well, the nexus 5 was a "flagship phone" 2 years ago when i got it :)15:00
Eadrom381|X250dobey, but where will I plug in my dock for #convergence? :P15:00
Eadrom381|X250but good point15:00
Eadrom381|X250I'll be waiting for one plus 3 UT development news with bated breath :)15:01
dobeyEadrom381|X250: i'm not sure the 3 supports MHL/SlimPort, so you'll have to use aethercast anyway. and just get a dock that's a hub and charges the phone at the same time, so you can plug in storage and whatever else too15:02
dobeyEadrom381|X250: the fact that the usb port is not usb 3 though, on the op3, is a bit disappointing15:02
dobeyalso, it's another bloody huge phone :(15:02
dobeyand not black15:02
Eadrom381|X250convergence means less to me.  I have an ultrabook I take with me most places so convergence is just a toy feature15:03
Eadrom381|X250I have an iphone 6S+ right now15:03
Eadrom381|X250do not mind me a 5" screen phone :D15:03
dobeywell, not like you can play steam games on it either, since it is still an ARM device, not a core i715:04
dobeyeh. nexus 5 is too big still15:06
Eadrom381|X250I game very little on my phone these days.15:09
Eadrom381|X250like almost not at all15:09
dobeyyeah, i don't game on my phone at all really15:11
dobeyjust trivial things to pass time when i'm waiting for my wings at bw315:11
Eadrom381|X250I use mine currently for mostly imgur, web browsing, email, online banking, social media, and telegram15:12
Eadrom381|X250oh and listening to music and podcasts15:13
Eadrom381|X250I'm excited to see what other fun things I can do once I have much lower level access to my phone15:13
dobeyi mostly use mine for untappd, and reading twitter15:16
dobeybut hopefully will be able to do a lot more soon15:18

rvrogra_: Do you know whether something has been done to enable serial devices in Ubuntu Touch?15:29
dobeyrvr: i don't think the kernel config has been changed. i guess there's probably a bug filed about usb serial adapters not working?15:33
rvrdobey: Do you know the related launchpad project?15:34
dobeyi guess bluetooth serial adapters should theoretically work, but there's currently no way to pair them15:34

dobeyi guess that might be a question for john-mcaleely15:36
john-mcaleelywhat's the question?15:37
rvrjohn-mcaleely: To plug Arduinos to Ubuntu Touch, USB serial devices support is required in the kernel15:38
john-mcaleelywell, for every device, the kernel is unique15:38
john-mcaleelythe configs on phablet.ubuntu.com are a guide, and used for the nexus'15:38
john-mcaleelythe OEM's mostly keep kernels on github15:38
john-mcaleelyso, what device are you seeing this on? any? all?15:39
john-mcaleelyrvr, ^15:39
rvrjohn-mcaleely: I tried on the tablet15:39
rvrjohn-mcaleely: But I'm sure it's the same in all devices15:39
john-mcaleelyrvr, here's the tablet kernel: https://code.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/avila/+git/kernel-3.1015:40
john-mcaleely(assuming you mean M10)15:40
