cci found i can do nothing with my ubuntu phone....08:22
Walexcc: it is fairly useful to me -- it has few apps, but almost every app has an equivalent web site.08:31
ccHow to use the Ubuntu mobile phone system on the computer?08:31
Walexmy main issue with it is that on the Acquaris 4.5 the GPS does not work that well.08:31
Walexcc: When my phone is on WiFi I use 'ssh' into it.08:32
ccssh08:32
Walexcc: and/or use 'rsync'08:32
ccwhat's that?08:32
ccapp?08:32
Walexcc: it is remote login/copy08:32
Walexcc: it is a bit of a computer-geek thing08:32
cc:(08:33
Walexcc: I have Ubuntu on both computer and phone. it is essentially the same OS, compiled for intel CPU in one case, for ARM CPU in the other case.08:33
Walexcc: youn can use 'ssh' etc. from MS-Windows too.08:33
ccer08:34
Walexcc: the problem with the phone is that you cannot have display to a monitor08:34
Walexcc: I also use the phone with a Bluetooth keyboard, and except for the small display it works well.08:34
cccan i use computer (windows 7) connect my phone?and use ubuntu systerm on the computer?08:34
Walexcc: you can use the ubuntu system on the phone, the computer does not change.08:35
Walexcc: but you can use it remotely.08:35
Walexcc: but mostly in "console" mode.08:35
Walexcc: note that nowadays you can use Ubuntu directly as part of MS-Windows 10, as there has been a very funny agreement between Microsoft and Ubuntu.08:40
ccWalex: may i need to download app or something else to do ?08:46
ccfor " note that nowadays you can use Ubuntu directly as part of MS-Windows 10, as there has been a very funny agreement between Microsoft and Ubuntu."08:46
ccWalex: i'm new in ubuntu phone08:47
ccwhat I need to download applications to implement this feature?08:49
ccWalex: do you know what i mean? sorry for my poor english...09:02
Walexcc: sorry, was away from keyboard...09:24
ccnop09:24
Walexcc: Ubuntu is a UNIX/Window like operating system, like Android. You can run it on a phone (a small computer) or a laptop or a desktop.09:25
Walexcc: and even under MS-Windows now, link to follow09:25

Spacedogg_iiehi guys09:26
Spacedogg_iieI just woke up, my phone had GPS and bluetooth turned on (I always have it off.) logged in and it's in the cell settings screen09:27
Spacedogg_iieit's like someone else was logged into my phone?09:27
Spacedogg_iieyou guys heard anything strange like this?09:28
Spacedogg_iiesound is also in silent mode09:28
Spacedogg_iieWTF?09:28
Spacedogg_iieI have BQ phone, running touch in normal (not developer) mode09:29
WalexSpacedogg_iie: unlikely, but the phone could have crashed and restarted.09:39
WalexSpacedogg_iie: also, in my Aquaris, GPS can be turned on but does not really work.09:39
WalexSpacedogg_iie: or the service daemons could have crashed and restarted.09:40
WalexPower down and power up the phone to see if it remains like that.09:40
Spacedogg_iieyeah, just looks strange to see random settings changed like that, not seen it before09:41
Spacedogg_iieI reset my settings and restarted, looks normal09:42
Spacedogg_iieanyway, I thought I'd report it here incase there's a worm going about or something.09:42
ogra_Spacedogg_iie, and you are sure nobody touched it ? dont forget that the  panel options when you pull down from the top are accessible by default when the screen is locked09:42
ogra_(you can turn that off in the security settings)09:42
Spacedogg_iieyeah?09:42
Spacedogg_iiethat might be it09:43
Spacedogg_iieif it was rubbing on my balls in my pocket or something09:43
=== chihchun is now known as chihchun_afk
ogra_i have it often that when people pick up my phone to take a look they play with the panel indicators ... wheer alol these options are exposed09:43
Spacedogg_iiehow do I turn that off?09:43
ogra_in the settings under security->lock screen iirc09:44
Spacedogg_iieyeah, the left hand app menu used to be accessable from the lockscreen in prior versions09:44
ogra_it still is09:45
Spacedogg_iieI see, it's an option09:46
ogra_(there was a plan that you can allow selected apps to actually run without unlocking in a sepcial confined mode (i.e. a camera app that cant read any data but take pics and store them without having to unlock)09:46
Spacedogg_iielauncher and quick settings are options there09:46
ogra_right09:47
ogra_if you turn off both you can only unlock from the lockscreen09:47
Spacedogg_iiedone, Id say that was it09:47
Spacedogg_iiethanks ogra and walex09:47
ogra_well, if your phone turned on in the pocket, that might be a bug, keep an eye on that09:48
ogra_(report it in case you are sure it does)09:48

Spacedogg_iieI think I put in pocket without mocking it09:51
Spacedogg_iielocking09:51
Spacedogg_iieI assume it being locked means not being able to change shit, a false assumption09:51
Spacedogg_iie(I mean locked but screen /touch enebled)09:52
=== chihchun_afk is now known as chihchun
ogra_Spacedogg_iie, well, if you dont lock the input by locking the display you can definitely punch in numbers while walking ... after 5 attempts or so the phone gets locked down for 5 min09:57
ogra_so i'd suggest to always turn it off :)09:57
Spacedogg_iieyeah, tnx09:58

dobeySpacedogg_iie, ogra_: well, if you don't use a pin/passcode, it's very easy for the phone to be unlocked while in a pocket or such, too.13:37
Spacedogg_iielimiting the root password on a dev mode device to a 4 character numeric is borderline retarded13:38
Spacedogg_iiesorry, but I had to say it.13:39
dobeythere is no root password13:39
Spacedogg_iiepin is root password13:40
dobeyand it's not limited to a 4 number pin. you can set a password13:40
dobeyno, pin is phablet user's login code13:40
Spacedogg_iieindependant of pin?13:40
dobeyinstead of pin13:40
Spacedogg_iieisn't phablet in the root group?13:41
dobeyno13:41
Spacedogg_iiemy bad13:41
dobeysudo13:41
Spacedogg_iiesorry for calling Mark Shuttleworth a borderline retard13:41
sergiusensjhodapp hey, I am a happy user of your components and wanted to know about the a/v sync issue in freiza :-)13:43
sergiusensaside from that, how is it going?13:43
jhodappsergiusens, glad you're a happy user and not an angry one ;)13:43
jhodappsergiusens, the a/v sync issue hasn't seen any love yet but should be getting a look soon, however my team isn't the one working on that13:45
sergiusensjhodapp oh really? you have lashed away from the chains of the media-hub?13:45
sergiusens:-)13:45
jhodappsergiusens, no I'm still media-focused but it's more of a device-specific thing, so one of the teams in China is going to take a look at it13:46
ogra_Spacedogg_iie, turn off devmode ... use ssh13:47
ogra_(that enforces key use, password is completely disabled)13:47
jhodappsergiusens, things are great, just visited NYC this weekend...first visit...great city13:48
jhodappsergiusens, how about you?13:49
sergiusensjhodapp doing good, just too much work travel, now conflicting with many things in my personal life13:50
sergiusensluckily it seems these are the last trips in a while13:50
jhodappsergiusens, been sprinting a lot?13:50
sergiusensI just moved to a house as well, in the outer parts of the city, so much more relaxing than being in the middle of it13:51
sergiusensjhodapp yeah, too many sprints here and there13:51
jhodappsergiusens, oh no longer in the middle of the action13:56
ogra_sergiusens, i added a hack to the bug that helps me on the M10.. but seems to not help everyone, you could try if it fixes your device too13:58
ogra_hmm, why has telegram a bold red line around the app header since yesterdays update ...14:00
sergiusensogra_ there's a telegram update? nice, does it support super groups?14:00
ogra_sergiusens, no, there was an os update that seemingly broke telegrams app header14:00
sergiusensogra_ I worked all day from the tablet yesterday. I would of today too but my BT mouse ran o of batteries14:01
dobeyogra_: rc-proposed? i think it's a change in uitk14:13
