Newkmaybe not the right place to ask: i made a bootable stick with unetbootin of lubuntu 16.04... now i gave it 1gig of extra space to save things... are updates to that system being saved additional or are those taking the place of the older ones? i hope the lather.. otherwise it would take unescesarry space and perhaps even boottime?01:38
tewardNewk: so you created the USB stick with persistence?01:39
Newkyes01:42
Newki think so01:42
Newkin unetbootin there was an option to add space for saving across sessions01:43
Newkor is this something else?01:43
tewardthat's persistence, yes.01:56
tewardNewk: as I understand persistence, and I may be wrong, any differences from the live filesystem are stored on the persistence you set up - that means things get saved there, updates, etc. at least AIUI01:57
tewardbut that may have changed01:57
Newki hope they changed that for updates... otherwise it would need to update itself upon boottime everytime02:09
Newkor at least move paths to the updates in persistence folder.. and the old packages just sit there and take space02:10
tewardit's been a while since I messed with persistence so eh02:11
Newkyou just use usb to install it on several machines and update from there? i guess thats the general idea... then we might need a way to update iso's to current packages02:12
tewardwell, most of my systems are virtualized, so... I just don't bother with persistence, VPN into my network and use remote desktop or such to reach into my Linux systems.  Usually from another Linux system.02:14
Newki guess once they have a working iso they are happy enough and only change it when something really is broken (like no working wifi or the likes)02:14
Newkah02:14
Newkhmm.. the updating of packages on the live-usb just failed.. not enough space02:16

NSABearyea18:11
NSABearwhat else would I do?18:11
tewardNSABear: there are no proprietary drivers for AMD in 16.0418:13
tewardAMD has killed it off and is now giving effort to the OpenSource ones18:13
tewardif that doesn't work for you, 14.04 is what you'll need to use18:14
tewardthis isn't Lubuntu-centric either18:14
NSABearoh no the Opensource are amazing18:14
NSABearLike jesus christ they are amazing18:14
NSABearI was just hoping to use the proprietary to get a bit more performance18:14
tewardNSABear: you can't because there are no more proprietary ones18:14
NSABearyes, I know18:14
NSABearYou said that. I was saying why I was going to use them18:15
