davmor2hey guys since the last kernel update my headset jack on my device isn't registering the insertion of a new device is there any debugging I can do for that?08:53
Odd_Blokedavmor2: I have, in the past, seen an issue on my Thinkpad T440p where having the jack plugged/unplugged _at boot_ affects whether plug detection works for the rest of that boot.  (Obviously this isn't particularly fine-grained debugging, but might be worth trying as a workaround. :)08:55
davmor2Odd_Bloke: thanks dude I'll give that try08:55
apwOdd_Bloke, that sounds "awsome" feature08:57
Odd_Blokehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/150882609:02
ubot5Launchpad bug 1508826 in alsa-driver (Ubuntu) "[20ANCTO1WW, Realtek ALC3232, Black Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all when headset plugged in" [Medium,Confirmed]09:02
Odd_BlokeLooks like I still have the workaround in place, so who knows if it's actually been fixed. :p09:02
davmor2Odd_Bloke: thanks for the hint that worked odd that it has only happened since the kernel upgrade on Friday though09:16
Odd_Blokedavmor2: Are you on a T440p?09:17
davmor2Odd_Bloke: nope xps1309:17
Odd_Blokedavmor2: Are you sure that it only just started occurring?  (I didn't notice it for a while because I almost always power-cycled with either plugged/unplugged (whichever didn't cause the problem))09:29
davmor2Odd_Bloke: sorry meeting, yeap only happened this morning and I'd rebooted with the headset in still no joy, rebooted with the headset disconnected and no it is working fine so no idea what was going on with it :)09:59
davmor2works now is all I care about :)09:59
Odd_Bloke:)09:59
davmor2Odd_Bloke: miming at meetings just isn't as efficient no idea why ;)10:00

gQuigshow do I find out what's going to be in the next Ubuntu kernel, these days?19:15
gQuigshttp://kernel.ubuntu.com/sru/sru-report.html is blank, and the git web seems stale - http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/19:15
gQuigsI'm really just interested in the patches mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1568729  - but also want to know the right way to check in the future19:16
ubot5Launchpad bug 1568729 in linux (Ubuntu Xenial) "divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP in task_numa_migrate - handle_mm_fault" [High,In progress]19:16
kamalgQuigs, sru-report.html does appear to be broken (we'll look at that)20:10
kamalgQuigs, the git repos at kernel.ubuntu.com aren't stale (but they are hard to navigate).  start here:  http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/20:11
kamalgQuigs, that said, kernel.ubuntu.com is now just a mirror of e.g. https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/xenial/ these days20:11
gQuigsawesome, thanks20:13
gQuigsthe LP are much nicer to navigate (at least to me)20:13
gQuigsdoes http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ server any purpose these days then?20:14
kamalgQuigs, no, but we've only recently move the primary git repos over to LP, and we figure lots of things still reference the kernel.ubuntu.com URL's -- so we're not eager to kill it off too soon20:17
gQuigsgot it, that makes sense20:21
