jbichaplease mark Ubuntu GNOME amd64 and i386 as ready02:12
bzoltanpitti:  your change helped the xenial tests, would you please do the same trick for yakketi too?04:07
bzoltanpitti: https://requests.ci-train.ubuntu.com/static/britney/ticket-1604/landing-019-yakkety/excuses.html04:07
pittiinfinity: I sponsored the seed updates and promoted the libnss-winbind package last night; now needs a -meta update04:56
pitti.. and teach ./update to look at xenial-updates, not just -release04:56
pittibzoltan: bumped; but please fix this properly for the next round (removing the binaries on ppc64el counts as fix)04:59
bzoltanpitti: thanks, Ok, I will go after it04:59
infinitypitti: What metapackage?06:23
pittiinfinity: doesn't that need an ubuntu-meta upload for the ubuntu-server metapackage?06:23
infinitypitti: samba-server has no meta, it's just a task.06:24
pittiinfinity: oh, so much the better06:24
* pitti closes bug 1604630 then06:25
ubot5bug 1604630 in ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu Xenial) "[FFe] 16.04 SAMBA missing winbind packages during install" [Undecided,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/160463006:25
infinitydavmor2: Still no results for Server amd64/i386...06:41
flexiondotorginfinity, Do you have a rough ETA for 16.04.1 release?07:33
infinityflexiondotorg: mid-to-late EU afternoon, ish.07:39
infinityjgrimm: Hey, what's up with the lack of amd64/i386 server tests for 16.04.1?07:42
infinityrbasak: *poke*07:48
flexiondotorginfinity, ty08:02
davmor2infinity: server team normally take care of server but I certainly install it after if they don't08:02
infinitydavmor2: Yeah, jibel and I are sitting together right now and lamenting the lack of testing.  I'm hoping rbasak can fill in some blanks when he wakes up.08:03
infinityyofel: Pretty please, with sugar on top, gimme some kubuntu/i386 results?08:04
infinityzequence: Are we +1 on Studio?08:06
yofelinfinity: I'll do another call for help... worst case I'll try to get some testing done during lunch break in ~2h08:07
infinityyofel: To be clear, my bar is really, really low.  I just refuse to release something that hasn't been through a boot/install/reboot smoketest.08:08
infinityyofel: Any bugs beyond that, if you're happy enough with imperfection, I'm happy to release for you.08:08
yofelright, that's all I would be able to do anyway08:08
yofelthanks08:08
infinityogra_: Do you have a pi2 with you?08:09
ogra_infinity, upstairs, yep08:09
infinityogra_: I could use a (very) quick smoketest on the 16.04.1 pi2 image.08:10
ogra_is it urgent or does 2during the day" suffice ?08:10
infinityogra_: Urgent enough, ish.08:10
infinitywxl: Based on iso.qa results, I'm thinking we mark Lubuntu x86 ready, and not release ppc?08:14
ogra_ok, i'll get it downstairs ...08:14
infinityogra_: Ta.  Bonus points if you have serial for it.08:14
ogra_i have to check, not sure i brought it08:14
infinityPaolo might have the right bits.  But he's annoyingly not on IRC. :P08:15
infinityAnd I don't know what room he's hiding in.08:15
rbasakinfinity: ah08:25
rbasakinfinity: so server testing used to magically happen from the perspective of the rest of the team because we had a QA person.08:25
rbasakWe have a new QA person now, who probably doesn't know anything about ISO testing08:26
infinityrbasak: Yeahp.08:26
infinityrbasak: So, most of it is automated, but some of the automated tests are failing in ways that I don't believe are true, or you'd be innundated with bug reports.08:26
infinityrbasak: Namely, the bind and LAMP tests claim they can't connect to bind/apache/mysql after an install, which I'm pretty sure is BS.08:26
infinityrbasak: So, if you could do some quick manual testing to confirm said BS, that would be nice.08:27
infinityrbasak: Pretty please. :)08:27
infinityrbasak: And then educate your QA guy before 14.04.5.  But not sure today's the day, given the schedule.08:27
rbasakYeah he's US-based. So doesn't really work timezone-wise.08:28
rbasakinfinity: can you point me to the failures please? It's been a long time since I touched ISO testing :-/08:28
infinityjibel: ^08:28
rbasakcpaelzer: so I was going to do your NTP merge review today, and nacc's bacula stuff, before this afternoon. I'm off tomorrow and Monday.08:29
jibelrbasak, https://platform-qa-jenkins.ubuntu.com/view/server/ you need the vpn08:29
rbasakTHanks08:29
rbasakHmm. There's quite a bit of red in there :-(08:33
cpaelzerrbasak: ok, thank you08:34
rbasakcpaelzer: but, see above :-(08:34
cpaelzerrbasak: I'm out Friday as well - and I can make myself useful today even without NTP, but over time this really gets important08:35
cpaelzerrbasak: especially as we really need to SRU som of it - which is btw something I need to talk about with you - probably Tuesday then08:36
jibelrbasak, installation works manually, it's likely a problem with the preseed08:37
rbasakjibel: OK, so the plan is to forget jenkins/utah and run through the test cases manually?08:44
jibelrbasak, yeah until nuclearbob wakes up. I think he knows the details.08:45
jibelrbasak, also matsubara worked on this problem08:45
ogra_infinity, http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ogra/+junk/dragonboard/files08:53
rbasakThis isn't so bad now that I have an SSD!09:26
rbasakI think bug 1585771 still exists.09:56
ubot5bug 1585771 in unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu Xenial) "Automatic security upgrades are always enabled" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/158577109:56
rbasakinfinity: did that happen when you turned proposed off, maybe, as it doesn't look like that fix has been released?09:59
rbasakinfinity: I think you should consider respinning for this.10:05
* rbasak goes afk - 20 minutes.10:05
infinityrbasak: I don't think I'm going to respin just for that, given I was going to release in an hour or three.10:23
infinityrbasak: Can blame people for not marking it v-done earlier (or, indeed, at all)10:24
rbasakinfinity: OK. I predict many complaints though.10:24
infinityrbasak: I don't see many complaints so far, just one bug.10:24
apwrbasak, it will not self heal when that SRU releases ?10:24
rbasakapw: I don't think so, because it depends on pkgsel on the ISO I think?10:25
infinityapw: No, it's an installer bug.10:25
rbasakrharper: ^10:25
infinityrbasak: Dunno what to say.  If it was really critical, it shouldn't have languished in proposed for a month before anyone cared to test it.10:27
infinityrbasak: And given our default in unattended-upgrades is to do security by default now, this seems fine.10:27
infinity(As in, that was a conscious decision)10:27
infinityEven if the installer prompt is arguably wrong.10:28
rbasakWorse, it's misleading.10:29
rbasakIf it didn't prompt at all, I wouldn't have an objection.10:29
infinitySure.10:29
infinityBut (a) not a regression from 16.04, (b) no one seems to have cared until release day.10:29
infinitySo, meh.  It'll be fixed in future d-i netboot, and in 16.04.2 ISOs.10:30
davmor2infinity: so that is most of i386 critical covered10:33
infinitydavmor2: Thanks.10:35
davmor2infinity: netboot ppc is that even a thing anymore?10:36
infinitydavmor2: It is, but don't worry about it.  The netboots are "released" regardless of testing.10:37
davmor2infinity: hahaha10:40
davmor2jibel: hmmm looks like no screenreader at all in the installer11:07
davmor2infinity: ^11:07
zequenceinfinity: sakrecoer is the new lead, and should be on top of that11:08
davmor2seems to work for keypresses and menus but not the installer bit11:08
davmor2oh and kicked in on the slide show too11:09
infinityCurious.11:10
infinityBut not sure what we can do about that today.11:10
infinityIf you can reproduce, file a bug and target for .211:10
infinityzequence: I marked it ready based on the testing.11:10
davmor2infinity: will do I blame cyphermox of course ;)11:11
zequenceinfinity: Alright. Thanks!11:11
infinityyofel: Kubuntu seems to have some positive tests now.  Good enough to call it "ready"?11:11
infinityrbasak: Modulo the bug I won't respin for, does server look ready enough?11:12
yofelinfinity: let me try to get a manual partitioning run done, then I would say it's fine.11:13
yofelwe didn't find any regressions so far11:13
infinityyofel: Kay.  I'll give you another 20m.11:13
yofelthanks11:13
tsimonq2infinity: wait, Lubuntu is marked as ready?11:23
tsimonq2huh?11:24
infinitytsimonq2: Should it not be?11:24
tsimonq2infinity: it's just weird because wxl isn't up at this hour and I don't have the permissions11:24
tsimonq2unless it was gilir, and that's very rare11:24
infinitytsimonq2: I did it, based on their testing.11:24
tsimonq2alright infinity, totally fine, I was just wondering :)11:25
flocculantinfinity: not sure I'll be about when you start finishing up - you'll see our images are marked ready, our release note will be at https://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-16-04-1-release11:31
flocculantdon't try reading that though as I've not even written anything yet :p11:31
infinityflocculant: :P11:33
infinityflocculant: You can update the link yourself at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes#Official_flavours11:33
flexiondotorginfinity, Are we nearly there yet Dad?11:33
flocculantinfinity: aah ok boss :F11:33
flocculant:D11:34
infinityflocculant: A few hours.11:34
infinityErr.11:34
infinityflexiondotorg: A few hours.11:34
flexiondotorgHaha!11:34
infinityI swear, one of you needs to change nicks.11:34
flocculantinfinity: tired?11:34
infinityI tend to tab complete on the first two chars.11:34
infinityDoesn't work well for you two.11:34
flocculantha ha11:35
flexiondotorgI've been thinking of changing nicks, but I have many PPAs :-(11:35
flocculantinfinity: are you expecting lts to lts early next week still?11:35
infinityflocculant: Yeah.11:37
flocculantwe need to warn upgraders about our nasty intel bug11:37
rbasakinfinity: yes, it looks good. I mostly covered amd64. I should look at i386 a little.11:37
infinityrbasak: i386 seems to have some tests, so I'm not sure it needs total coverage.11:37
rbasakI didn't do total coverage of amd64 either11:39
rbasakI assumed the optional tests were optional? I did a selection.11:39
infinityYeah.11:40
infinityThat's fine.11:40
yofelinfinity: kubuntu ready11:53
infinityyofel: Ta.11:58
tsimonq2infinity: is netboot going to be released as well?11:58
infinitytsimonq2: netboot isn't "released", it's just published when debian-installer is copied to updates.11:59
infinity(which has already happened)11:59
tsimonq2I see infinity12:00
infinityrbasak: Okay, I'm going to mark server x86* ready and start the publishing madness.12:00
rbasakinfinity: OK. I'm just doing the one "run-once" test for i386 that isn't optional that isn't done yet.12:06
rbasakinfinity: done. I think we're good.12:14
davmor2jibel, infinity: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1605240 reproduced reliably on kvm the shell itself talks but the window for installing doesn't. I'm going to double check it on hardware12:55
ubot5Launchpad bug 1605240 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Screen reader is only working on the frame an not the installer part" [Undecided,New]12:55
jibeldavmor2, thanks12:56
ogra_infinity, https://launchpad.net/~canonical-arm-dev/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=&field.status_filter=published&field.series_filter=xenial ...13:21
ogra_ boot-lk-dragonboard - 0.213:21
jgrimminfinity, rbasak: ack, and thanks for taking care of the testing.  will get new QA up to looking after actively.13:28
infinityjgrimm: Ta.  There's another point release in two weeks (14.04.5), so testing early and often would be good. :P13:35
=== infinity changed the topic of #ubuntu-release to: Released: Trusty 14.04.4, Xenial 16.04.1 | Archive: open | Yakkety Release Coordination | Please don't upload things during freezes where you shouldn't, or be prepared to apologise to the release team | We accept payment in cash, check or beer | melior malum quod cognoscis
davmor2infinity, jibel: Yay it's not as bad as it could be.  Screenreader is only screwy if you use the menu before the installer appears if you let the ubiquity session start and then enable the screen reader from the indicator it all works fine \o/  I'll update the bug15:02
infinitydavmor2: Kay, that's comforting.  And a curiously weird bug.15:03
apwi bet the installer starts before the session established completely so isn't included in reading15:04
bdmurrayinfinity: is somebody going to take of the metarelease changes?16:11
xnoxinfinity, shouldn't http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/16.04.1/ says "Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS" ?16:57
slangasekxnox: it's not part of the process to update those pages; cf. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/14.04.1/17:14
sakrecoerthanks infinity ! i was wondering who marked the ubuntustudio RC ready. :)17:15
xnoxslangasek, that's a bit confusing.17:15
xnoxanyway, if that's not meant to be it's not meant to be.17:16
slangasekxnox: if we want to see this changed, it would be good to have it somewhat automatable; I believe those index files are currently 100% manually maintained17:16
=== NCommander is now known as mcasadevall
=== mcasadevall is now known as NCommander
dokoinfinity, is python 2.7.12 part of 16.04.1?18:58
slangasekdoko: it is.19:00
dokocool, ta19:01
slangasek(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python2.7/+publishinghistory, vs. image build date of 2016-07-19 or so)19:04
infinitybdmurray: Feel free to change version in metarelease, but don't enable auto-upgrade yet, we'll decide on that early next week.19:07
bdmurrayinfinity: noted19:08
