pennTellerHi guys, can anybody shed some light on where to add an mx record?02:09
Keo-0w i keep having that error message whenever i try anything w/apt-get03:41
Keo-0wlinux-server depends on linux-headers-server (= 3.2.0.99.115); however: Version of linux-headers-server on system is 3.2.0.106.122.03:41
sarnoldKeo-0w: are you on an out-of-date mirror? the new version of linux-server is at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-meta/ and looks like it has been for a few days04:27

danialbehzadiHi. I am getting a dedicated server and I want to setup some appliances (about four) on it. Is it rational to manage it with Maas or not? Since classic visualization method are not optimal, what is the best plan for managing this?09:18
tomreyndanialbehzadi: if you are talking a single server, MaaS is not for you09:30
danialbehzaditomreyn: So, What is the best for single servers? LxD? Docker? etc.?09:32
tomreynjust setup some virutalization or container environment (possibly with a web interface) and add VMs on top.09:32
tomreyndepends on what you want to do. those 'appliances' are probably in some specific format?09:33
tomreyn...and can have some requirements09:34
danialbehzaditomreyn: No. I can make them myself in any format. Just looking for the best format…09:36
tomreynif you can afford virtualization, use that. the easiest way to manage a single server nowadays is maybe with kvm, libvirt, virt-manager09:38
tomreynif you don't care about security so much you could also go with docker / lxc / lxd09:41

compdochave you ever had sound working using vmware?15:16
van777compdoc: good question!  let me check.15:16
van777compdoc: another vm neither has sound . it must be the weird USB soundcard that doesn't work with vmware..15:22
compdocdont know enough about vmware tao say if it supports sound15:24
compdocto15:24
van777compdoc: thank you, it must be the hardware problem.. http://imgur.com/a/RcLFz15:25
OerHeksvan777, what happens when you switch to 'default host soundcard' ??15:56
OerHeksbesides the mpeg codecs you need to play15:57
van777OerHeks: default host soundcard doesn't play too.15:58
OerHeksthen i guess there is a codec missing to play?15:59
van777OerHeks: will this be ok? sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras15:59
van777do i really need them in ubuntu-server? hmm16:01
OerHeksvan777, that will pull a desktop environment too, all you need is alsa and add the user to the audio group tons of howto's > https://learn.yancyparedes.net/2013/02/playing-audio-files-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/ >>> http://askubuntu.com/questions/582750/play-music-from-vlc-on-ubuntu-server16:01
