[05:22] tnx Bashing-om [05:22] Bashing-om: ill make black tshirts with the pink logo aswell [05:25] For some reason we must all wear an outer covering . Tee shirts and summer => Good Logo == cheap advertising ! [05:25] yep [05:26] Bashing-om: ill try to focus on windows to ubuntu + ssd convertings [05:26] also cheaper solution [05:29] more bang for the expenditure :) [05:30] :p [05:54] lotuspsychje: Looks like I am beyond good thinkability .. Gonna retire for this session befor I get into more trouble . [05:54] okay mate [05:54] have some nice ubuntu dreams [05:54] K .. take care of thing .. see ya later . [06:26] morning all! [06:36] hey ducasse [06:36] ducasse: http://imgur.com/a/1QnQr [06:36] yeah, i saw it in my backlog - nice :) [06:37] :p [06:37] which de are you planning to give customers, btw? unity? [06:38] yep [06:39] ducasse: the sidebar is handy for most beginners [06:39] it's probably the easiest for new users. [06:39] lubuntu and xubuntu panel are bit more expert i think [06:39] adding items and stuff [06:39] most dont understand it [06:40] kde might be close to windows, but i just can't stand it :p [06:40] not a fan either [06:40] i wanna try to keep as much vanilla ubuntu desktop [06:40] but with tweaked stettings to begin [06:40] settings [06:41] probably wise, especially when they need support from friends/irc/etc [06:41] well my customers wont have a clue what irc is aswell [06:42] :) [06:42] in my country ubuntu is not very well known [06:42] and i wanna change that [06:43] not here either, #ubuntu-no has had no traffic in the last week :( [06:43] one comment on tuesday, that's it. [06:43] ducasse: your from norway? [06:44] yep [06:44] cool!! [06:44] :) [06:44] was my best holiday ever [06:44] what a beautifull country [06:45] it is, but this summer can't have been good for tourists - lots of rain. [06:45] where in norway were you? [06:46] hmmm names..lol [06:46] we traveled with the car [06:46] all over places [06:46] had a nice king crab festival somwhere [06:46] and boat trip around the fjorden [06:47] do you remember which part of the country - south, west etc? [06:48] have no clue sorry, was so long ago [06:48] most people visit the south, the west or the capital. [06:49] nature is so nice there [06:49] with waterfalls [06:49] if you saw some of them you were probably in the west - lots of waterfalls and steep cliffs down to the fjords. [06:50] we had a rental house near the haven soemwhere [06:50] fisherman village i think [06:50] cool :) it's a good place to live :) [06:51] i remember walking the woods [06:51] and seeing cars perforated by the war [06:52] anyway breakfast time mate [06:52] okidoke, enjoy! [06:52] ducasse: and working day, so see you laterz mate === PaulW2U is now known as pcw [12:29] hiyas all [12:47] morning BluesKaj - how are you today? [12:48] Hi ducasse, fine here, and you ? [12:49] BluesKaj: good, thanks - how are things going with the rpi3? [12:50] quite well, I'm still working the vpn problems, but I've put that aside for now. I'll work on it later [12:51] you're using it for kodi? have you tried hevc video yet? [12:54] is that an option in kodi? I didn't see it in the system setttings [12:55] no, it's a codec (h.265) intended to replace h.264. much better compression, so i suspect a lot of video streaming will switch to it. [12:56] the rpi2 isn't really powerful enough to handle it, and i've read somewhere that the rpi3 isn't either - i was just curious. [12:57] that will be great on my dsl connection [12:58] you get much higher bitrates, so better quality for the same bandwidth. [12:59] i encoded a couple of video files as a test, h.264 was ~700mb, h.265 was ~250mb [12:59] why not if the coding is done at the source, then it could work on my desktop pc [12:59] if you transcode, sure. [13:00] it would be great if the transcoding was done at the source tho [13:01] what do you mean by source? [13:03] if you mean the originator of the video stream, they typically stream in h.264 now, which is easy to decode. if they switch to h.265 you get better bitrates, but it requires more of the device that decodes. [13:03] yeah the smaller size still needs to be decompressed/expanded at the target which my desktop can handle, but the rpi gpu probly can't unless one gives it some extra gpu memeory rtc [13:04] i think the issue was the cpu, actually. but it's worth a try. [13:04] even the rpi2 can do 720p h.256 with some patches, so... [13:05] I already give the gpu 256mb , but maybe 512 would work if I didn't have any other apps running [13:06] you can try. aiui, h.264 decoding is hardware accelerated while h.265 is not, and the cpu isn't fast enough to do it. [13:06] but 720p might work. [13:07] to me 729p is acceptable [13:07] 720 rather [13:07] me too. i can't see a difference on my tv anyway without sitting too close. [13:10] yeah 720p and 1080i are difficult to distinguish from each other [13:12] you can try downloading a sample file and test it, my guess is 720p would work with a recent kodi. [13:12] especially on smaller flat screens like my 42" Panasonic plasma [13:34] 'Morning pauljw_vm, what's up today/ [13:35] hey BluesKaj, not much going on here. How are you doing? [13:36] good here , just relaxing as usual :-) [13:36] :) [13:43] watching my lawn become ragged, but tomorrow is our evening to water so I'll wake my neighbour at 10AM when I startup the mower :-) [13:48] they have one of those RAM 1500 trucks with a low restriction loud muffler with which they wake the neighbours at 6AM every weekday, when they go to work [13:56] so starting my lawnmower at 10Am on a Sunday morning when they're trying to sleep in, should give them a small taste of their own medecine [14:01] potato in the muffler [14:03] heheh [14:03] I've thought of that of course , but that would be a last resort [14:04] hang a shrimp with a needle hidden in the curtain or like that, that smell is so good [14:05] like a good wine, it needs time .. [14:06] no, i am glad that your neighbour got a job, and sorry that you don't have to set the alarmclock [14:06] we have the birds @ 04:00 ... 1000+ parakeets [14:07] now that school is back in session, we're up at 6am anyway... [14:11] OerHeks, it doesn't bother me as much as other neighbours because I'm retired ..one is a nurse who works shifts ans is no longer friendly ro the "truck prople" === BluesKaj is now known as BluesKaj-pi [15:17] wb BluesKaj-pi :) [15:20] hey pauljw_vm, I was registering another nick for use on hexchat on the rpi [15:21] gonna switch now [15:21] i want to eat you [15:21] oh [15:22] :) [15:25] i was looking at the link you put up yesterday and that looks like a very nice kit, BluesKaj, which wireless keyboard did you get for it? [15:26] i have the K400 for my pi2 [15:30] Hello, why can't I join the channel #ubuntu-offtopic ? [15:31] OerHeks, that's a nice looking keyboard.
