[01:09] why is the icon text on my Desktop blurry? http://imgur.com/a/6EMFK [01:31] I was at my sisters and it was next to the front porch. I didn't feel like spending a Saturday night in the ER, so I chopped it's head off [01:32] Omnifrog: just desktop icons or other places, too? [01:32] just the icons [01:33] what distro? [01:33] ubuntu [01:33] well, xfce on a Kubuntu base install [01:36] It's weird only the icons are blurry. If it was a font setting you would think everything would be blurry [01:39] Are the icons fixed? Should be a index.theme file somewhere maybe [01:45] there are 20 or so index.theme files all in /usr/share/ [01:46] Which one are you using? [01:47] good question [01:48] Try a different theme, one that comes with the default build and see if it does the same thing [01:49] oh, it does the same thing. I've fiddled with settings several times. downloaded new themes. that seems to create new problems [01:52] the xfce settings panel is baffling at times [01:52] where the hell is the themes manager ? [01:53] hmm, is there a ~/.cache/sessions directory or a ~/.config/xcfe... [01:54] there is [01:54] from xcfe wiki... If the theme contains scalable icons (~/.icons//scalable) make sure you have librsvg installed [01:56] it is installed [01:59] Sounds like the more themes you and install and the more you try to configure, it's saving those sessions in ~/.cache/sessions. I have no idea why the icons have blurry text though. Other than maybe they're not scalable [02:00] they were blurry right from the start though. this is a new build [02:00] ah [02:00] I've had this problem with xfce before [02:00] one of the reasons I kept going back to KDE [02:01] but I just cant take KDE's shit anymore >.> [02:01] do you have a xsettings.xml anywhere under ~/.config/xcfe [02:03] - /home/bork/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xsettings.xml [02:03] You can try removing that file and the save sessions. Reboot and load a native theme [02:06] I'm looking through my notes. Something similar happened to me, not with the icons but something else weird. I finally removed the cache and that xsettings file and it seemed to work. Not sure why or if it's something you need to do. [02:06] ooh, A Clue! (yeah, I've been watching too much 'Blues Clues' with my grand daughter this week ) [02:07] from xsettings.xml .... [02:07] [02:08] most of the other lines contain "type="empty" [02:08] yeah, but whatever changes you make are just going to populate your ~./cache/sessions. Delete that crap and the xsetting file and you should have a clean slate [02:09] I wonder if the might be at fault [02:12] Possible. But that would show up in the index.theme file for whichever one you're using, no? [02:15] nope. it doesnt [02:17] .. [02:17] [02:17] so I guess I'm nor having a theme but only an icon theme [02:18] s/nor/not [02:19] yeah, and you have stuff mismatched and possibly missing. Delete the sessions and xml file [02:20] I will tackle this tomorrow I think. The wife and kid are now in bed and my next priority should probably be beer [02:20] They will regenerate after you reboot... Hopefully :) [02:20] ok [02:20] eh, just rename them to .bac [02:21] I am diggin the hell out of this new SSD though [02:22] yeah, but that xml file changes, it wont hurt to get rid of it. Test it out. Apply a new icon set and check the file [02:22] If there isn't one there, it will make it [02:25] honestly I don't see why they didnt integrate this crap into systemd [18:51] minasota: http://yz7lpwfhhzcdyc5y.onion/ to go with http://5nca3wxl33tzlzj5.onion/
