Mirvany chance of http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#linux today? (bug #1609913) all other transitions are now waiting for that and we have halted publishing of Touch related packages to yakkety to not interrupt the transition06:38
ubot5bug 1609913 in Kernel Development Workflow "linux: 4.6.0-10.12 -proposed tracker" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/160991306:38
infinityMirv: I'm fixing differently.06:59
infinityMirv: Deleting 4.6 from -proposed and rebuilding 4.4 against the new binutils.07:00
infinityMirv: But that's taken some back and forth.  See my ranting in #-devel.07:00
infinityMirv: Anyhow, I'm pretty sure I have it licked this time, so once an arch or two passes my current test build, I'll call it good and upload a non-test build.07:01
infinityAnd pray a bit.07:01
infinityAnd then ~5h later, we should have a migration.07:01
Mirvthanks for the update infinity!07:05
* Mirv reads backlog rants07:06
infinityMirv: Long story short; no one expected the kernel to get caught in this transition (like, seriously, WTF), but the kernel team's been working on making 4.6 sane, and I've put in some non-work hours to fix your immediate issue with a hacked-up 4.4.07:06
infinityMirv: So, feel the love. :P07:06
Mirvindeed wtf. everyone will feel infinity's love once transition happens. the whole community comes and hugs you for weeks.07:07

hallynsforshee: what woudl be the best ppa to use to test a 4.6 kernel in yakkety?14:56
hallynshould i use mainline for that or is there an actual wip ppa?14:57
rtghallyn, ppa:canonical-kernel-team/ppa14:58
hallynthx14:58
hallyndrat, lxd fails to start there15:00
hallynbc lxcf sfailed, bc there is no fuse module?15:04
sforsheehallyn: I would just download the debs from the c-k-t ppa - https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages15:04
hallynwhich deb has the fuse module?15:05
sforsheelinux-image-extra15:05
sforsheeprobably anyway, either that or linux-image15:06

hallynsforshee: phew, that gives me fuse.  odd that it moved to -extra, this means lxcfs package will have to depend on that15:11
sforsheehallyn: it's been that way for a while now15:14
hallynhm?  i installed a yakkety vm, lxcfs came up fine.  added the ppa, upgraded, lxcfs did not come up.  which suggests fuse moved between the 4.4 pkgs in yakkety and 4.6 in ppa15:14
sforsheehallyn: oh, seems that fuse used to be built-in15:17
sforsheemight be a good idea to include it in linux-image then, we probably want lxcfs to work out of the box on the server install15:18
sforsheertg: ^15:18
hallynawesome - thanks15:24
hallynmeanwhile, i was mainly wanting to reproduce https://github.com/lxc/lxcfs/issues/125 , but it doesn't fail, so yay for that15:24
hallyn\o15:25
rtgCONFIG_FUSE_FS=m15:29
sforsheertg: in xenial it's =y15:29
rtgsforshee, but not in Yakkety15:29
sforsheertg: right, I'm saying we should probably include it in linux-image if it's going to be a module because lxd needs lxcfs, which in turn needs fuse15:30
rtgsforshee, ah, right15:31
rtgsforshee, done15:32
sforsheertg: thanks15:42
u554c46hello, i have skylake problems. i upgraded to kernel 4.7.1, and installed the intel drivers manually. however it seems to overheat. i am sure there are modules not activated or similar. i don't know how to fix it21:19
u554c46anyone here?21:27
