Taggnostrhello00:06
TaggnostrI just upgraded and restarted and my monitor configuration got messed up.  I fixed it and restarted it again and it was still messed up, and even now that I fixed it again, if I right click on the clock on the bottom-right of the screen, the menu appears at the top-left, and if I hover on it the popup appears on the bottom-left of the other monitor00:07
Taggnostrand with messed up I mean mirrored displayed with lower resolution instead of side-by-side with correct resolution00:07
Taggnostrhow can I fix this and make sure it remembers it for the next reboot?00:08
TaggnostrI've also been having some redrawing issues, especially when I minimize or maximize windows, not sure if it's related00:09
RichlandDavidI've succeeded in upgrading the OS to the version 16.04 with kubuntu Plasma. Fonts are so small I can't use it. Got a fix?00:55

hateballIs there like a planned features roadmap for 16.10 somewhere? I can only find the release roadmap05:23
hateballTried the latest nightly and it still has quite old packages05:24
hateballGetting a bit tired of these issues with dual monitors05:24
momoe**A wild momoe appears!!**05:52
momoeGood evening/morning everyone05:52
momoeSo KDE Connect has finally reached 1.0 version, this past week.05:53
momoeAnd I was wondering who to poke about getting the update going for Kubuntu's update manager.05:53
momoehttps://albertvaka.wordpress.com/2016/08/26/kde-connect-1-0-is-here/05:55
hateballmomoe: I would guess someone in #kubuntu-devel05:57
momoekk, thx hateball05:58
momoeSo another dunce question here, but does the search field in Kubuntu's Discover center ever work for anyone?06:26
momoeI never get any results when using it, since day 1.06:27
momoeExample searching for "blender" would return no results even though it's right there on the start page06:27
hateballmomoe: are you fully updated?06:30
hateballSeems to work here at least (first time I tried it now)06:31
momoeI should be fully updated06:31
momoeHere's an example http://imgur.com/a/obIvA06:32
hateballweird06:33
hateballI've no idea how it is supposed to work, sadly06:33
momoe"No I," said the fly. ^_^;06:34
momoeone ould assume it's supposed to list all relvent results when entering full or partial names. but nothing.06:34
momoehateball: how is your experience with that search field? Do you get any results?06:37
hateballmomoe: as I said, it works for me06:37
hateballI have only tried it this once06:37
hateballI am using kubuntu backports ppa06:37
hateballno idea if discover is backported also06:38
momoekk, thx just needed a reference. I'll eventually be going for a clean install in the near future. maybe on 16.04.106:39

zamazan4ikhello. Is there any way use to multi display configuration (laptop screen + external screen) with proprietary Nvidia driver on Kubuntu 16.04?09:37
zamazan4ikmy conf is intel graphics 4000 + Nvidia 635GT09:38
hateballzamazan4ik: Yes, but stock kubuntu and multimonitor is rather broken09:39
hateballzamazan4ik: So using the kubuntu backports ppa is probably what you want to do first09:39
hateballit's not flawless after that either, sadly09:39
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> works fine here09:41
acheronukkde/plasma multimonitor support is very much a work in progress for many cards09:41
acheronukplasma 5.8 now seems to be the main target for ironing out most kinks09:42
acheronuk\o/ live cd http://i.imgur.com/WeG5llR.png09:44
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> is that a daily?09:45
acheronukahoneybun: yes09:46
ahoneybunnice09:47
acheronukgot the building of them fixed and and restarted earlier09:47
acheronukI haven't tried the installer yet09:48
ahoneybunyou know how the slideshow will be like09:49
acheronukabsent!09:50
yossarianukcool - its behind neon though (its using 5.7.4) ... Is 15.10 aiming for plasma 5.8 ?09:50
ahoneybunwell of course it's behind Neon09:50
ahoneybunthey follow no schecule like us09:50
ahoneybun*unlike09:51
acheronukyossarianuk: besides we had Qt 5.6 and plasma 5.7.2 stuck in proposed for best part of a month, then immediately got the feature freeze when they finally go unstuck09:51
yossarianuksure. Which is why i'm sticking to kubuntu for work machines09:52
acheronukyossarianuk: I'm trying to keep the kubuntu CI chugging along at about parity with neon, but plasma 5.8 will be too late for yakkety09:55
yossarianukthat is a shame.... really it would be good if 16.04 LTS upgrading to plasma 5.8 LTS (but I know that will not happen..)09:57
yossarianuk*upgraded*09:57
acheronukyossarianuk: hoping for that via backports09:57
ahoneybunit goes against the release cycle09:58
acheronukas LTS plasma would be a great ppa backport for LTS xenial09:58
ahoneybunacheronuk: how much changes are allowed for a point release?09:58
acheronukjust not anywhere near the main repos09:59
yossarianukI know, in some ways its a shame you have to stick to ubuntu's cycle in many ways - at least 16.04+backports is serving me well at present...09:59
acheronukahoneybun: not sure, but not anywhere near that much I think09:59
ahoneybunmm09:59
ahoneybunacheronuk: hopefully soon snaps can clean some of this up10:00
acheronukthey will help, certainly if the can get the whole shared resourse thing sorted10:02
ahoneybunthe latest applications on 16.04 base10:07
ahoneybunI just care about kdenlive lol10:08

soee__maybe if it has to download updates and you have ultra slow connection20:07
FlyingFoXdownloading has already finished a long time ago20:11
acheronukmy slowest of slow laptops would probably do it in an hr or 2. depending on how many packages you have installed20:11
FlyingFoXits just the installing that takes so long20:11

Driminicusis there a way to update kdeconnect22:57
Driminicuswithout using kubuntu-staging?22:58
Driminicusthe version in kubuntu 16.04 with kubuntu-backports is relatively old22:58
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> It just got updated23:07
Driminicusoh, I just realized it's not even in kubuntu-backports/staging23:17
Driminicusshould I build the newer version from source? will that work?23:17
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> Not sure, 95% sure it will not since it might need new Qt version23:24
DriminicusI see23:25
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> My bad its in backport landing23:27
Driminicusah23:28
IrcsomeBot<ahoneybun> https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ubuntu/backports-landing/+packages?batch=75&memo=75&start=7523:28
