I write my software for my business, I run ubuntu, naturally. When I need to update it, I rename the current executable, scp in the new one, then have the program restart, it loads the new one. What I want to do is just apt-get upgrade, and it will just grab the new program I compiled, and added to my repo, and do that automatically with the scripting system [04:20] in place for that sort of thing.
