tootheI'm using Xubuntu. To resize the window, I have to move my mouse EXACTLY on the edge of a Window, which is hard. Is there a way to make that size larger?13:45
knometoothe, you might want to read http://xubuntu.org/news/window-resizing-in-xubuntu-and-xfce/13:48
knometoothe, (the answer to your question exactly is yes, if you change the window manager theme)13:48
toothe:)13:49
toothethank you.13:49
toothehm...I see where you resize the colors, not the size or anything of that sort?13:50
knomesettings -> window manager -> tab 'style'13:51
tootheA) I appreciate it. B) I don't see where the resize is.13:52
knomedifferent themes have different size window borders, so either more or less area to hit13:53
tootheohh....13:53
knomethe article i linked you to covers some alternatives to windows resizing, and i actually would recommend some of those methods instead of dragging the border13:53
knome(well, you can drag a top border too, if you need to do it mouse-only)13:54
toothethank you!13:54
MrTuliasHi. Where/when gets pulseaudio the nice level value? He gets value -11 when the max is 014:12
MrTuliasin the syslog I see this line machine rtkit-daemon[2862]: Successfully made thread 2861 of process 2861 (n/a) owned by '108' high priority at nice level -11.14:22
MrTuliasand then a lot of those: Successfully made thread 2880 of process 2861 (n/a) owned by '108' RT at priority 514:23
MelRayI installed 16.04 from USB. When it tries to boot it goes to boot rescue saying a file is missing. I chose to use LVM. When I re-insert the USB stick it will let it boot to the installation but gives a print to screen saying something has not yet been activated?17:41

xubuntu981Hi there. How can I configure a remote desktop access in xubuntu 14.04, (as a server, to be connected)18:22
knomedepends a lot on how you want to connect to the system18:23
tmsbrgknome, somewhat curious myself. What's good software for it? Like if I want to control my PC with my laptop when I'm somewhere else18:48
knomecontrol your pc in what way?18:48
tmsbrgknome, like I would if I was there, controlling input and seeing the screen output?18:49
tmsbrgso I could for example browse the internet with it18:49
knomei use x11vnc for that18:49
tmsbrgalright, thanks for the tip18:50
knomebut depending on the purpose, 'ssh host -X application_to_run' might work for you too18:50
knome(obviously need ssh server for the latter)18:50
knomex11vnc is the server software for the former, any vnc viewer should go18:51
tmsbrgknome, X forwarding doesn't always work well, does it? I never did it but I heard something like it being problematic18:51
tmsbrgwith SSH that is18:52
knomethat's why i said "depending on the purpose"18:52
knomefor some purposes vnc might not be the ideal solution either18:52
knometo begin with, transferring the desktop can take a lot of bandwidth18:53
knomedoing it with a secure connection like ssh means even more bandwidth...18:53
tmsbrgI can imagine18:54
tmsbrgI guess you could lower the resolution when connecting from remote18:54
knomeso usually it doesn't really make sense to connect to some other PC to be able to browse the web18:54
knomebecause in order to do that, you need a decent web connection anyway18:55
knomethat, and there are other tweaks you can add in, but it still is relatibely heavy18:55
knome*relatively18:55
tmsbrga friend of mine did it once to circumvent internet censorship, when he didn't have a proxy server or anything else18:55
knomeright, in that case you might want to look at serious/real proxy server stuff rather than vnc or other x forwarding18:56
tmsbrgwell it was just an example really, I was just curious18:57
knomesure; just proving that it really depends on the purpose you have18:57
tmsbrgtrue18:57
knomeand obviously you only want to expose as little of you system to the web as you can18:58
knome*your18:58
knomeor "have to" really...18:59
